I lost a child because of his abuse, and that was the last straw. I don't even know if I can have children anymore. I didn't wait for the test at the hospital. I just wanted to get out of the hospital and out of the marriage. I just left.

Chapter 2

Rachel: I got off the plane at JFK Airport and took a deep breath. Is this the smell of freedom? I really hope so. I needed to get rid of some of the clothes I was wearing. It was winter in Cape Town, so I wore a short winter dress, jacket, tights, and boots. At least I had sandals in my bag. How I remembered to pack sandals, I don't know, but I'm glad I did.

Massimo: Who was that girl, I wondered to myself. She is very beautiful, and the electricity that shot through me when we touched was something I had never experienced before. I must say, I meet a lot of beautiful women, and I can put any one of them in my bed, but they are definitely not her, and there is no spark, not like this.

I took a minute to look at him in his sweatpants and shirt. The shirt fit his body to perfection; you could see his solid body, and I bet underneath was a six-pack.
