"Saphira, wait," Jed called from behind her. She turned around and faced him as he got out of the car and ran over to her. "Is everything okay?" she asked, confused. "Yes... well, no. Look, there is something about you that makes me want to protect you. I know we have only just met, but you are special. I don't know why or how, but my instinct is telling me to protect you," he spoke.

Saphira looked at the woman she bumped into and offered a quick, apologetic smile. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bump into you.” The woman’s expression remained gentle. “It’s okay. Are you new here?” she asked softly. “Yes,” Saphira admitted. “Hopefully, it won’t be long until I’m matched.”
