It was a brisk fall afternoon, and I was nervous. Tonight, I would find my mate. it was the night of the Harvest Moon, a moon so sacred to wolves, that we aren’t allowed to fight. If you kill someone or hinder the process in any way, there is a chance that you could be cursed by the Pale Lady herself. It was especially so that tonight, as she would grace us in red. It was said that those who were born without mates before this moon, would get mates that were powerful warriors.

Chapter 3

He held a disapproving, tightlipped gaze on me. 'Are you sure that this is what you want?' He said concerned. Mom was up now, and was sitting at her desk, looking at me with a sadness in her eyes. 'Dad, mom. That dream was so real I could feel the wet dirt under my feet. This is a message from the Pale Lady I know it.' I said sipping my coffee.

Chapter 4

I brushed my black frizzy hair, and looked at my outfit. It was ready for the hardest decision I ever had to make. I had 2 pairs of military black leather boots, one laced to the backpack on the bed, and the other on my feet, going up to my knees. I had on a long-sleeved black shirt with black jeans, which I felt complimented my amber-yellow eyes. I tied my hair into a braid that went to the lower middle of my back, and grabbed the little, dirty white unicorn plushy. I should be ashamed, but Daisy would come with me.

Chapter 5

I woke up to see stern red eyes staring at me. I jumped, screaming, clawing at the intruder, who dodged me easily, pinning me to my sleeping bag. 'Really?' The male said calmly, hiding whatever emotions he felt so well I couldn’t discern them. I thrashed, kicking my legs to no avail. My legs were in the sleeping bag… and my arms were pinned above my head with one clawed hand. 'It’s me sis.' He chuckled. I opened them, to see a small smirk on my brother’s face. Dad and my Uncle Conner both had stern eyes, arms crossed.

Chapter 7

The sun was up now, and it was about 10 in the morning. It was cold enough that the meat I had wasn’t going to go bad, and for that I was thankful, but I was lost, wondering why my phone wasn’t getting a signal today. It had been working great for the longest time, but now it started to act up. I grunted. I began to smell smoke from a campfire, and my curiosity got the better of me. It was a risk, how was I to know who was there, but I was hoping that it was someone who wouldn’t mind helping a fellow traveler.
