I think Sabael likes Tessa and that's why he reacted the way he did, she's changing his mind on what a great love can be. its good that came out now and not later on when it might be more painful for both of them... So theory time: I think Cessi’s dragon died, which was so traumatic she got a stutter from it. Ashen supposedly died and came back from the dead...maybe he came back with her dragon’s soul? So they feel an instant connection to each other... 🤔🤔 Also explains why Kairen is so protective of Cessi, because she lost her dragon 😢
