His voice, low and gruff broke my thoughts of obsession, "Use me."

It was like a bucket of cold water was thrown on my chest. I turned to him with a scoff full of disbelief. I wanted laugh and throw my hands in the air to show him that I understood what he said was a joke.

But the darkness in his eyes and the heaviness of his brow told me different. He was serious. He tilted his head, his eyes flickering to my lips for a moment before returning to my eyes.

"Use you?"

He shrugged, his eyes landing on my lips again, "I can keep him from bothering you."

"Like a bodyguard?" My stomach was twisting inside me, a ball of nerves making me feel light.

His shoulders shook as he chuckled, lifting his eyes to mine, "You know that's not what I mean."
