Part 6
Part 6
/Her POV/
I covered my face as the harsh sunlight filtered through the windows. Even though the net was covering majority of the rays from peking inside, they still manage to enter. It happens every single time.
Letting out a sigh I turned around and picked the small duffle bag. I was going along with Edward to order pastries and sweets for groom's side of family.
Last night was really something because it was so crowded and loud and messy. Something I missed from a long time. Even though there were children running around with spaghetti sauces around their mouths it was the most fun I ever had.
Edward was missing the entire night as he was setting up tents in the backyard along with some guys. Usually that was something I wouldn't miss because I would get to oogle him do the hard work and also tease him but unfortunately my mother assigned me the kitchen duty. I had to help her serve all the people.
"Aria" A knock sounded on my door and I looked up only to see Edward. He was dressed posh yet so casual in his white shirt and brown chinos along with bright white sneakers. He looked like those catalogue models who are buff and always made the front cover. His hair was messy, the strands falling loosely on his forehead. Why was he so attractive in everything?
I stifled my whine when his eyes narrowed in my direction.
"H-Hey" I swallowed the lump formed in my throat. He shuffled inside my room and I noticed that you had nothing except for his phone in his hand.
"So how long are you planning to stay at the bakery?" He teased while staring at my duffle bag.
In my defence I packed an extra pair of shorts just in case I managed to fall and ruin the ones I'm wearing. A water bottle because of course it was going to be hot outside. And some snacks so that I can annoy him. Also my iPad because maybe I will be able to catch something unique and different.
I rolled my eyes, zipping the bag before he could peek inside and make fun of me even more.
"Everything inside this is essential" I weakly argued and then strapped it on my shoulders, securing it tightly.
He hummed, not really saying anything but his eyes were accessing my every motion.
"Isn't it too early to be leaving?" I questioned as my eyes automatically shifted towards the clock behind. It was only 6 in the morning and I was pretty sure that no bakery opens before 9:00 a.m. We would be simply wasting our time by queuing early.
"That's exactly what I said" He exclaimed.
"But it's Francesca's work so you know, I'm not taking a risk here." I laughed nodding along because I was aware of how picky she can be.
He took a sharp breath, "And besides that bakery is very well known and they sell out quickly so we should place our order early"
"That's a forward thinking" I bobbed my head
"You seem surprised. What? Are you having hard time believing in my words?"
I nodded my head, "Yeah I was definitely not expecting something like that coming from you"
"Hey" He made a sound of protest and pushed hair back, the action caused his muscles to flex and I licked my lips, averting my attention away.
"I am smart"
"Sometimes. Add the word at least"
He crossed his arms, like a petulant child on Christmas, "I am deeply offended right now"
"Good. That's what I was going for" I smiled and walked out of the room, feeling his eyes burning behind my back.
Eh we will get over it.
"And please please remember. The only reason I am trusting you is because you have powerful memory and can remember things." Francesca said as I was standing outside the gate waiting for the car. Edward was standing by my side as Armund was getting the car out of the garage.
"Should I be offended right now?" I asked, turning towards Edward who frantically nodded his head.
"No" Francesca flatly said.
"That's all she wants you for. Your powerful memory" Edward tsked while shaking his head and looking mournful.
Francesca glared at him, "Don't feel the fire, eh?"
"I did not even say anything!" Edward exclaimed, lifting his hands in a defensive manner.
"Yeah right" She rolled her eyes and turned towards me.
"Again thank you so much for doing this. I really don't know what I would have done" Francesca sighed, while pressing her hand firmly against mine.
"Cried" Edward snickered from beside me and this time Francesca hit him in the chest. He had that coming so I did not even bother to control my laughter.
"Really Lana del Rey?" He huffed, staring at me, his knuckles turning white at his grip on the steering wheel.
After Armund handed the keys to to his Range rover I thought of driving but then again sitting beside Edward and annoying him seemed like most enjoyable option. It had been 15 minutes since we passed the beach house and I was already bored.
I hummed, "Why not? She makes me feel things"
"She makes everyone feel things. But that is not something I would enjoy while driving a car" He gruffed and leaned forward to switch off the audio.
"Heyy!" I slapped his hand away but the action was already done. He turned off the radio.
"Maybe let's save that while we are driving back" He reasoned out as he took a turn in the right direction. From the looks of it seemed as if he knew everything about the town. When Armund asked him if he needed help turning on the GPS he denied. Maybe that's why. He was already familiar with the streets.
"And why is that?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Oh I don't know maybe because I will be sitting there and having earphones with me"
Oh. How dare he?
"Like I am going to drive when I have you" I snorted while pushing my legs against the dash board. He glanced at my legs but then quickly looked away.
"What am I? Your driver?"
"Oh wasn't that obvious when I handed you the keys to drive?"
He hummed, "I should have known. This was all your elaborative plan to employ me"
I coughed, holding my laughter. I always thought that it was going to be impossible to find someone who matches me and my weird sense of humour. Now that I found him how was I going to keep him?
The bakery was huge. It was definitely not like something I imagined. Not only it was nestled in between grocery stores but it also was the largest area in that lane. The open board was staring back at me. Edward was right after all. Going early did not hurt.
I patiently waited for him as he was parking the car. The two hours passed away very quickly without music or having to open the phone. He kept the conversation naturally flowing and surprisingly did not add any flirty remarks.
"Ready?" He asked coming behind me.
I gulped, suddenly feeling my hands sweaty and cold. My stomach was in knots and I could feel the cold surface hitting my leg even though it was normal just a while back.
"It's not even my wedding and I am stressing so much" I nervously laughed, rubbing my palm against the fabric of my skirt.
He hummed as we crossed the street. The warm smell of dough and sugar hit us as soon as we were standing in front of the door. His hand clasped on my wrist before we could enter inside.
I arched my eyebrow
"Do you always think about that? Your wedding?" He questioned, his lips pressed together.
I shrugged. It was not something obsessively think about but I always have random thoughts. Mostly things I would definitely avoid on my wedding. People I would never invite and the jealous faces I would get to see on my day. Sometimes I fantasize about dancing to my favourite song and just let everyone watch instead of joining on the dance floor. Ok I think about it a lot. But doesn't most of them do too? It is natural to be excited about one of the most important day in your life.
"Sometimes" I shrugged.
"What about you? Don't you ever have these thoughts?"
He burst out laughing as if I made a joke. It was not intentional but that was his sudden reaction to my question. Edward rubbed his eyes and apologetically shook his head, "Sorry but... I am sorry but I didn't mean to laugh"
"It's fine"
Edward gritted his teeth together, "No I'm sorry. It's just I never thought about those things and your question just made me laugh at how much I don't think about it"
"You never think? Never?" I emphasized the question again.
"Nah" He shook his head.
"Is there any reason why?" I curiously asked him. There was just something about him that I couldn't pinpoint. He drove me crazy with lust and want but at the same time he was the confusing piece of the puzzle. The short I was going to solve no matter what.
"Any reason?" He snorted and shook his head.
"Maybe because I have not found the right one. The one that would make me want to settle."
I felt my chest tighten at his tone, just thinking about some random lucky girl who would be his wife was making me feel jealous. Who was going to be his right girl m?
"And when you find her?" I asked in a small voice.
He grinned, the crinkles by his eyes deepening, "I will marry her"
We pushed open the door to the bakery and entered inside only to see even more rush. Since when where they queuing? I was scared that everything was going to be sold out soon so I immediately pushed my way towards the counter. Edward was hot on trail behind me.
"Hi" The older man greeted with a huge smile on his face
"Good morning signora. Is there any way we can assist you?" The same man questioned.
"Yes actually. I wanted to place an order of some varieties of pastries for tonight"
He fished out the book, "Okay. Which variety do you have in mind?"
I bent down and look that every cake again. Everything smelled so delicious and looked appetizing that it was really confusing to pick few of them. But finally I made a decision and listed out everything I needed.
"Thank you. But you have to wait for a while to pick this order." He apologetically smile while pushing the piece of paper back through the window which connected the kitchen.
"How long?" Edward questioned as he felt a nudge on his shoulder.
"4 hours sir"
"What are we supposed to do till then?"
