CHAPTER 3

CHAPTER 3

Emerson POV

I couldn't help but feel intrigued by Love Venice. She seemed different from the other women I've seen in my life. There's an air of mystery and depth around her that draws me in, making me want to know more about her.

I never thought that a woman would make me feel this way, but there's something about her that just captivates me. Who would have thought that Emerson Triumph will feel nervous just because of a woman? I didn’t know that I have the capability to be nervous but I am. I studied her when she ordered her Cappuccino.

I listened in on her conversation with Megan, and the way she spoke made me realize that she's not like the other girls who are after money and material things. There's something genuine and pure about her that I find very attractive. And when Megan mentioned a guy she slept with, I noticed a flicker of remorse or anger in her eyes that made me wonder about her past.

As she walked out of the coffee shop, I couldn't help but feel a sense of loss. I wanted to know more about her, to understand what makes her tick. But I knew that I had to be patient, that true love doesn't come easy and that I couldn't let my heart be swayed by just any woman.

I need to find that out.

“Jayson” I said, looking at Jayson.

“Yes Mr. Triumph”?

“Can you also run a background check to this Megan she's been talking”? I said to Jayson.

He looked a little shocked that I was eavesdropping on their conversation because I already know the name of the woman Love’s been talking with but he manage to compose himself easily.

“I will” he put down his coffee and stood up. “I'll just make a phone call, Sir” he said and I nodded. He turned his heel, fished out his phone, dialed a number and went outside the coffee shop.

When I look back at the corner where Love is, her friend Megan I think said her goodbye and kissed her cheek.

She closed her eyes and her jaw clenched when Megan left. I couldn't help but feel drawn to her. She looked pensive, and her beauty was striking. I found myself studying her features, the curve of her lips, the softness of her cheeks, and the delicate line of her jaw. She was like a goddess before me, and I couldn't help but be captivated. As much as I wanted to reach out and comfort her, I hesitated, unsure of how to approach her. She deserved respect, and I didn't want to make her uncomfortable in any way.

Love POV

I don't know how much more my heart can take, the pain is unbearable. I can't believe I'm going through this again. Just when I thought things were going well, life had to throw another curveball my way.

Suddenly, my phone rings, interrupting my thoughts. I answer without even checking the caller ID, too lost in my own misery to care.

"Hello," I say, staring up at the ceiling of the coffee shop.

"Hi b*tch! I was told by the air that Seb's been cheating on you," a voice on the other end of the line says. I recognize it immediately - it's my best friend Celine.

"That's too blunt, Celine. Don't you think?" I reply, trying to hold back tears.

Celine and her twin brother Tony have been my best friends since grade school. They're notorious for their bluntness, but that's what I love about them - they never sugarcoat anything.

"So? Is that a problem? I know you don't want to talk about it, but I don't care. Either you tell me or I'll go find that Sebastian and castrate him," Celine says, laughing.

Her humor might be inappropriate, but it's a welcome distraction from the pain.

"Whatever, devil," I say, a small smile creeping onto my face. "But yeah, I'll tell you tomorrow. Let's meet up."

"Fine, text me the time and place and I'll be there," Celine sings, the sound of her voice lifting my spirits.

They've been my saving grace through every heartbreak, and Celine never fails to amaze me.

One of the waiters approached me and put a chocolate cake that I like to order on my table.

“No, that's not mine. I didn't order anything.” I say putting back the plate on his tray.

“Is your name Love”? he asked me.

I tilted my head. “uhmm.. Yeah”

Putting back the cake on my table, “Then it’s definitely yours.” huh? “A customer approached the counter and bought that. He told us to give it to you, he also gave me a tip” he smiled and left.

Well? I look around me to see if someone's looking at me but there’s no one.

My eyes landed again on Mr. Gorgeous Adonis but he's busy texting I think.

As if he bought it for me? In my dreams, yes maybe. I thought to myself.

I’ve been in this coffee shop every morning for three year but it’s the first time I saw him.

When I look at my phone and saw the time, I collect my things and went home like nothing happened yesterday. When I opened my door, I saw the other devil.

“What are you doing here”? I asked. Oops! Wrong tone. Don't let him notice that you already know.

The devil pulled me to him and kissed my cheeks. Ewww! I want to kick and punch him but then I still don't have any plans for them. They made me this. They're evil; now let them see how I take my revenge. Let them see the devil inside me.
