Six
Chapter Six.
One week after the heart shaking incident, Jennifer had become a shadow.Lying on her bed, in black jean shorts and pink bra pressing her phone, with crossed legs she obviously was not dressed to face the outside world. To emphasise that, the French door, which was the only source of light, was blocked by the multicoloured window blind, causing the room to be dimly lighted.
A bag of chips laid next to her laptop which had a movie playing and an empty bottle of Pepsi slept between her two pillows.
That has been her duty for the past one week. She locked herself in her room, woke up, took long showers, ate junk food, watched movies, checked social media, it was a cycle every blessed day. A murderous cycle. But she really didn't mind.
She had given Hannah instructions not to let anyone disturb her. She wanted away all form of reminders of her loss, she needed time to herself.
She did not want people trooping in in their lots to tell her sorry, or to take heart. In fact, it was very wrong for them to say it. They weren't the ones that lost him anyways.
'Just tell them I am renewing my energy or something.' She had told her .
Even Francis and Amanda weren't allowed in.
She took a piece of chip and chewed it very loud.
The fun of being alone.
No rules, no do's and dont's.
You are just alone.
She heard a knock on the door.
She rolled her eyes as a reflex response.
"Hannah?"
She hoped it was her, she was contemplating letting her in after one week of shutting everyone out.
"Yes ma'am." Hannah said from the other side.
She got out of her bed and put on her purple robe.
She walked lazily towards the door, unlocked it, and opened it slightly that Hannah had to squeeze her way through.
Jennifer closed the door and sat on the edge of her bed, swinging her leg to and fro like a five year old waiting to be served her favourite treat.
Jennifer looked up to Hannah's scrutinising face .
"What is it?"
Hannah shook her head left to right.
Jennifer sighed, knowing what Hannah wanted to know.
"I miss him okay? I just can't bear with the fact that he is gone." She said staring at her toes.
Hannah ran her hand through her ginger red hair which was down and dusted some imaginary dust from her uniform.
She walked to the bed and sat beside Jennifer. She slung her arm over her shoulder.
She sighed and then started to talk.
"Ma...Jenny. If I say I don't miss him, I will be lying. I know how you feel, though what I feel can't stand next to yours, but still, I can still feel what you feel. He is gone, yes. There is nothing we can do to it. No redo or re-act button in this life."
She put her hand under Jennifer's chin and raised her head so her eyes could meet
hers.
"Ma'am, you need to stop drowning yourself into this pain. It hurts to see you this way. Please come out of the shell you are hiding yourself. It is not going to be easy, but please, try. Okay?"
Jennifer nodded shortly and hugged her.
"Thank you." She whispered into Hannah's ear.
Hannah ran her hand through her back, before releasing her.
She stood up and faced Jennifer.
"The lawyer is around."
Jennifer scrunched her nose and fell flat on the bed.
"I will come downstairs very soon to see Mr Ugly face."
"Ma'am!"
Jennifer rose and looked at Hannah who had a hidden smile.
"What? Isn't it true? Tell me, if your parents decide to marry you off to him, what would you do?"
"Me? Marry that Ugly Face?"
She touched her chest with her hand, beating it softly.
"I will rather marry a pig. That man is ugly and dirty. I wonder if he takes mud bath every morning. His face is always dirty anytime he comes here. Does he even have a wife? His face looks dirtier this morning. So dirty."
She ranted, gesticulating ,causing Jennifer to give short laughs.
"Oh Hannah Banana, you are so silly." Jennifer said smiling.
Hannah smiled. Obviously delighted that she saw her boss smile.
She must have been surprised when she let her in.
Jennifer guessed she was not expecting her to look kept.
She was probably expecting, rough, unkempt hair, like that of someone who had wild sex . And her room was definitely not looking like a fight broke out between two girls fighting over a boy.
She gave Jennifer a quick nod.
"I'll take my leave now."
"Sure."
Hannah walked towards the door. As soon as her hand touched the door knob, she turned,
"Ma'am..."
Jennifer looked up from her phone.
"Yeah?"
She moved closer.
"I have something to tell you about Sir Francis and Amanda."
Jennifer cocked her head to the right.
"Ma'am...they..."
She was interrupted by the door.
Francis walked in, smiling.
Jennifer smiled at him, immediately regretting she shut him out.
"Finally babe!"
He threw his hand in the air as he approached her. Jennifer eyed his body that was strangely looking sexy and she felt more regret that she had missed a week of having to appreciate his manly beauty.
Hannah excused herself, closing the door behind her.
He hugged her and she drowned into it.
She had missed him.
She had missed everything about him.
His deep black hair, which she ran her hand through.
His eyes, which was always smiling at her, with two lines at their sides accompanying it.
His lips.
His hands.
She had missed everything.
They released each other, held each other's hand and stared into their eyes.
"I missed you." Francis said with his deep voice that stirred her down there. She had missed that too.
"I missed you too. " She whispered.
"Tell me, how have you been?"
She shrugged before responding.
"You know, sleeping a lot, eating junks, watching movies, you know."
He smiled.
"You are in the season. You will get over it."
"I wish."
"Oh come on, where is that, ' I can do it' spirit?"
"Hidden behind junk food?"
She replied bluntly.
He smiled again
"You, my Nini, need that treatment."
Jennifer frowned.
"Which... oh no. Oh no. Don't tickle me."
But it was too late, he was at it,making her laugh, throwing her head back.
"S...stop. Oh stop." She laughed, already lying on her bed.
He was on top of her, supported by an arm, looking into her eyes. He stopped tickling her and stared into them.
Her laughter ceased and she stared back.
He used his free hand to caress her cheeks.
"I have missed your smile."
She smiled at him and let him touch her.
He moved his hand to her neck and moved his thumb in circles.
"Promise me. That you will be fine"
She let out a deep breath which was stuck and nodded.
He smiled and gave her a quick kiss. Immediately he broke it off, Jennifer became greedy and continued it. She took his mouth hungrily, clutching at his cloth for him to turn her crazier with his touch and his lips.
He got her message and gave her what she wanted. He returned the eagerness of her mouth and explored it with his tongue, with her tongue fighting for dominance at a point. She felt him chuckle at her attempt and she got enraged an irritated at first, but as soon as he bit her lip in the heat of kiss, she forgot about that feeling and let out a low moan at his attempt and success at turning her on a bit more.
As she reached for the hem of his shirt to feel his skin, he held her hands and said,
"The lawyer is around Jennifer, we should not keep him waiting. So, you coming? " He said as he got off her.
"Yeah. I just pray I don't puke."
Francis chuckled and gave a wink before leaving.
She grinned sheepishly to herself and was about closing her eyes to imagine what could have been a very hot sex ,when she remembered the lawyer, so she ignored the tingling sensation that Francis had succeeded in making her have and wore her slippers, wondering what the lawyer was there to say.
'Mr Ugly Face.' she thought as she got off the bed.
