-HER-

Throughout the class, I keep getting looks from people sitting around me. When the professor’s not looking, some girls from Holly’s group will turn to look at me and laugh. I see all of this happening from my peripheral vision.

I don’t look anywhere but on the blackboard. Lisa keeps mouthing curses at them and shooting them very mean glares but I don’t get involved. The trauma is too paralyzing. I sit still and try to concentrate on what the professor is teaching but I fail to ignore what’s happening around me.

When the class ends, I do not delay to grab all of my things and rush to the canteen outside. We have half an hour before another class so we decide to wait in the canteen. Holly’s group takes a seat not far from us.

I am aware of them and their eyes on me. It’s burning me from inside out. I take out a book before pretending to read it while Lisa busies herself with her phone, probably texting others.

“It’s time for phase one,” Lisa mutters beside me. It makes me look up from my book. Holly and her group seem to be deep in conversation among themselves. Their attention seems to be diverted from me for the moment.

“But how are you going to get it?” I whisper, looking at Holly’s ID hanging from her neck. Lisa has her eyes on the same thing as well. She is mindlessly chewing her lower lip, a habit of her when she is deep in her thoughts.

“Look, I think she is going to order something,” Lisa mutters. It makes me look back at Holly who has gotten up from her seat and is heading towards the cafeteria counter to get food.

“What are you going to do?” I ask Lisa and instantly, her eyes gleam with mischievousness. She has got an idea but before I could ask her what it is, she raises from her seat and stalks towards Holly. Holly is standing at the line to order. Lisa goes and stands just behind her.

I don’t know what she is going to do. Nor do I blink or look away even for a second. The place near the line starts to get crowded as students from the nearby class walkout. Lisa takes this moment to slightly fall over Holly.

Holly turns around instantly and curses Lisa, who apologizes before walking back to our table. She has a very big smile on her face when she takes the seat beside me.

“What did you do?” I ask her, eyeing the girls from Holly’s group. They are busy amongst themselves and I am glad about that. Lisa giggles lowly before she pulls out the ID card that belongs to Holly.

“Phase one accomplished,” She mutters cheerfully before hiding the ID back in her pocket. I look at Holly who is walking back to her table with a coffee. She has no clue that her ID has been stolen. Holly shoots us a glare before she settles back on her seat.

I couldn’t help but smile at Lisa who has a blinding grin decorating her lips. She pulls out her phone before texting others about the completion of phase one.

For the rest of the classes, I keep receiving mean looks from people but I act as if I am oblivious to them. Lisa’s stunt has somewhat lifted my mood but at the same time, I am anxious for the rest of the plan.

The easiest part is done and now, we have to implement the hardest part. It has to be done before Holly realizes that she has lost her ID. It will take her at least a day or two. We have to complete phase two of our plan before she finds out that her ID is missing.

After the class ends, we meet the others in the alley. Lisa shows them Holly’s ID. After discussing phase two of the plan, we hang out for some time before heading home.

The twins are home and I am somewhat feeling relived. Today wasn’t that bad but there’s no guarantee that we will succeed tomorrow. I am happy that I wasn’t asked many questions during dinner. The twins were talking for the most part.

I retire to bed early and toss in my sleep for the most part of the night. I wake up feeling tired again. I am feeling more anxious today. What we do today will determine a lot of things. If we mess up today then we will get ourselves into deep trouble.

If we succeed today then Holly will get what she deserves. I still feel wrong about this but I don’t want to let my friends down. I know that they have my best interests and that’s why they are doing something so risky for me.

We meet at the alley just like yesterday. We discuss everything thoroughly so that no mistake is made.

“Are you sure we wouldn’t be caught? What about the security cameras?” I ask Troy, who’s very confident about carrying out this phase.

“I am very sure. The security cameras in that block are not working. I have heard one of the staff complaining about it yesterday,” Troy assures.

“But what if they have been repaired overnight?” I ask but Troy simply shakes his head at me. He has this knowing smile on his face which says that he has everything figured out.

“Just trust me with this one, Cybele,” He smirks at me and others nod.

“But this is wrong. We are literally vandalizing the student council president’s office!” I croak and Troy laughs.

“Well, that’s what will get us the right reaction from the right person,” As Troy said, his face flashed in front of my eyes.

I have forgotten about him mostly and he had been missing from my thoughts lately but if we fail today then I am sure he will not only be the subject of my thoughts but the reason I’d be kicked out of this college.
