-HER-

I sighed as soon as I was back into my cubicle. The meeting was very intense. It left me hot and needy, which a meeting, in general, shouldn’t.

“What’s his name?” Bethany whispered at me as she pointed to one of those clients. They were in Mr. Toles’ office, having some discussion. We could see them from our cubicle due to the glass wall in his office.

“Valter Tolentino. He seems like a jerk,” I muttered as I pretended to look through the emails.

“He’s hot,” Bethany muttered with a sigh. I simply shook my head at her before I looked back at them. His horns looked huge from this far. My stomach dipped every time I looked at them.

His horns were making me feel hornier. I couldn’t ignore them.

I looked at Bethany, who was busy obsessing over the horn-less client before I looked back at them.

“Can I ask you something?” I whispered. The tone of my voice made her lean closer to me.

“What?” I gulped as I stared at his horns. They made him look sexier. I opened my mouth to tell her about them but nothing came out.

“Look at the other one,” I said pointing to the Vittori guy, “Can you see his…” I trailed off, trying to find words to describe it to her.

I was finding it hard to say the word ‘horns’ out loud. I was afraid that it would make her draw hefty conclusions about my mental health so I just raised my hands over my head to show her.

Her eyebrows came together as she gave me a ridiculed look.

“What?” She asked in bewilderment. I looked back to find them walking out of the office.

“Look at him. The other guy. Don’t you find anything odd about him?” I asked her in a whisper as they passed our cubicle. I received a mean look from the Valter guy while the one with horns didn’t look at me.

“They are tall… and buff. I have never seen anyone of such build,” Bethany said with a pleased tone and I sighed. I watched them walk out of the office. The guy with the horns stopped at the gate before looking over his shoulder.

His horns went past the walls as he walked out of the door. I was left staring. I couldn’t understand any of it. Was I hallucinating?

I’d be damned if I were hallucinating. I already had too much on my plate. I didn’t have enough place to incorporate a mental disorder into it.

“I’d appreciate it if you try coming to office on time at such important days,” Mr. Toles sudden voice behind me jump.

“Sorry for being late today, Mr. Toles. This won’t happen again,” I told him, composing myself. He nodded.

Mr. Toles was an easy-going middle-aged man. He was able to conduct the office smoothly without being too bossy. Almost everyone loved the guy.

“I’d like you to join me tonight for dinner with the new clients. Since you’d be helping them with the deal, it would be a great opportunity for you to know them better,” His words made me think about the Vittori guy.

He already got me hot and bothered in one meeting. I wondered what the dinner would do.

I contained myself from biting my lower lip as the lusty thoughts invaded my mind. This was getting too much for me. I needed to get home and touch myself as soon as possible. My core was begging for release.

“Sure,” I said as my heart thrashed in my chest. Mr. Toles walked away after nodding.

“How was your day, An?” Nana asked when I finally reached our apartment. It was in the fairly posh neighborhoods of the city. After working in real estate companies for years, I was finally able to afford this place.

Previously, Nana and I used to live in a rundown barn on the outskirts of the city. It was horrible. I don’t miss that place even though I spent the majority of my childhood there. It was tough. Nana worked hard to put food on the table while I worked hard to make sure that we don’t have to spend the rest of our lives miserable.

“It was great,” I answered as I took my shoes off and headed to the bedroom. I thought of taking a shower right away. I’d be able to get some time to myself then.

“Lunch is ready. Come and eat first,” She called for me from the kitchen and I sighed. I put my things away and went to the kitchen. She was frying some vegetables on the pan.

“Do you need some help?”

“Yeah, set the table,” She answered. I did as she said while she finished cooking lunch. She still preferred to cook. She simply loved to cook.

“Thank you, ma’am but I’d rather not have your clumsy ass anywhere near the stove,” Nana commented when I tried to take the spatula from her hand. I scowled at her.

“That was so rude,” She simply shook her head.

She was very young to be considered to be my grandmother. Only a few streaks of grey hair sprouted from her head while only a handful of wrinkles decorated her skin.

She was hardly over fifty. Sometimes, I doubted her to be younger than that. She hardly behaved like old people. She was still very young and energetic.

I guessed that it was due to the fact that she had my mother at quite a young age. She was just fifteen and my mother followed the same trend. She popped me out when she was hardly fifteen before running away with an old man. We never saw her and never wish to see her again.

Fortunately, I didn’t follow that path but I did pick up some traits from them that were continuing to mess with my life.

“Let me serve you,” I said as she put the pan on the table. The food smelled good and it made my stomach react for the hundredth time today but not for needy reasons.

“As you wish,” She took her seat before I served her the mouthwatering food. I suddenly noticed how the room was grimly silent. I looked at her to find her staring at me. She did not look pleased.

“Someone called while you were at work,” She spoke grimly. She didn’t need to say his name for me to understand who she was talking about.

Derek.
