CHAPTER FOUR

“Is this a prank?” I questioned; eyes narrowed rather suspiciously as he carried my full suitcase down the stairs after I was done dressing up. He really had to be kidding or maybe there were cameras just about to pop up from somewhere announcing this was a prank of some sort.

“No,” he smiled, no hint of mischief in his eyes,” I would really be okay with it if it happens,”

“You would be okay if I slept with another man while I’m on the trip,” I echoed his earlier statement, surprise still very much detectable in my voice.

“Yes,”

“Why?”

“Because soon you are going to be my wife and I don’t want you to ever cheat on me when we tie the knot. I want you to be only for me then. Go do all the stuff you want to do while on the trip. I’m giving you my permission to go do whatever you want ,” He said, placing my suitcases down near the main entrance.

A sigh left my lips as the truth hit me. Taking his palms into mine, I met his gaze, determined to make the meaning of what I was about to say sink in.

“I know what you are doing Will and I have no idea how many times I have to reassure you. You have gone back to being afraid of losing me that you think if you let me sleep with someone else, I would be satisfied enough not to leave you,”

“I can’t help it babe. You have no idea what it feels like to date such a beautiful, intelligent woman like you. It’s hard to believe that I can actually call you mine even though there are richer, way more good-looking guys out there who would do just about anything to have you in their arms. I know it’s been three years of us being together but every day when I wake up in the morning and see you, it feels like just another sweet dream. So I guess I thought letting you sleep with someone else with my knowledge would be less painful than you cheating on me behind my back,” The sincerity in his voice sped through me, the depth of his words sinking into my soul. He knew just what to say to make me feel special and that feeling was something precious to me. It was a reminder that even though I was broken and a terrible mess, he’d always be there for me.

“If I needed someone else in my life, I would not cheat on you. I would leave you so I can spare you the pain but too bad, we are stuck together till I draw my last breath,” I assured him. To be honest, I had never understood why he’d think that I was too beautiful for him or that I would probably leave him one day. If he knew half of the demons I carried with me, he’d leave me without a backward glance. As a matter of fact, I was the one lucky to have him. To know a man that good-looking and kind-hearted loved me so much, was better than the butterflies I admittedly didn’t feel around him. To me, he was enough.

“You really love me that much?” He questioned in a soft emotion ladened voice.

“Yes Will. I love you very much; enough to know I don’t need another man in my life to know that you are the only person I want. I’m never going to leave you or cheat on you. So I need you to stop worrying about that,”

“Good,” he exhaled in pure relief,” Because I can’t bear the thought of another man even breathing near you. I want to be the only to make love to you, kiss you, fight with you and at the end of the day, call you mine then whisper in your ears how much I love you,” he grabbed my lips, kissing me in a savage way, possessing my lips in a way that I loved.

“I love you too, handsome,” I breathed out when we broke the kiss. Damn! I was really going to miss this piece of hunk but I needed to do this and this was just the right time.

“Well, time to go. The last thing I want is Sasha calling me out, complaining about me making you late for your trip,” I had completely forgotten about my two best friends waiting for me outside my house.

“I know. She can be quite a handful but she is still the best,” I smiled as Will dragged my suitcase outside the house where Sasha was impatiently honking while Trina leaned against the hood of the car, her gaze focused on her phone.

Ever since she became the brand Ambassador of the new Red Dragon Scotch, she had been quite glued to her phone. It didn’t help that she had to ensure the continued prosperity of the drink. Sasha on the other hand was a successful real estate agent, mostly working with celebrities and rich people while I was a pretty famous romance author with my latest book The Price of Love being an international best seller within the first week of its release last month. All in all, the three of us had made quite a name for ourselves. Among us, I was the only one with a man but this trip was just going to be about us; girls. No work stuff, no man talk.

“So finally, you let her go, huh?” Sasha questioned in her usual harsh manner as she glanced at my fiancée.

“I told you she’d be at my neck,” Will whispered to my ear as he helped me put my suitcase in the trunk.

“I heard that Will,” she shouted and I just had to smile at that.

“Well, have a great time all of you, but bring my woman back intact,” he said.

“No promises,” Sasha replied.

“I will miss you love,” he whispered as he pulled me to his chest, ignoring Sasha’s statement.

“I’ll miss you too,” I answered, sniffing his seductive cologne. Fuck! How was I really going to go through this without him beside me to remind me just how much of a strong woman I was?

“I love you, handsome,” I said as I withdrew from his hug.

“I will always love you, beautiful and just so you know, I really won’t be mad if something happens on the trip,” he said and I had to walk to the car to avoid changing my mind about this trip. It did bug me a little though that he was somehow convinced something would happen on the trip. Thank God Sasha did not hear that.

“Hey, Trina. We are about to go,” Sasha said as she honked at the phone zombie Trina.

Settling in the front seat, I found myself laughing at Sasha’s poor attempts to get Trina’s attention. I had really missed hanging out with my friends but one thing was for sure, every time we were together, no matter how responsible we tried to be, one of us or sometimes even the entire team would end up in trouble.
