Chapter 7 - Escape
Camelia’s POV:
I didn’t know this man but I got a feeling that he wasn’t any good. When I looked at his handsome face, stared straight into his green eyes, I felt like he could see through me. I would lose myself in his dark green eyes.
The man was a mafia, no doubt that he was ruthless. I was already hurt by him, he didn’t believe me when I said I didn’t know anything about Derek. He ordered that female monster to beat me up.
There was no assurance that he wouldn’t sell me or rape me himself. I had tolerated a lot and I didn’t want to face the same pain again.
So I already decided to escape from this place. After finishing dinner, I didn’t take the medicines. There was a sedative in these and once I taking this, I would get very sleepy and wouldn’t be able to escape anymore.
I hid the medicines under the pillow and pretended to sleep. The maid returned and checked the empty medicine packets. Turning the light off, she left the room.
When it was around 2.30 am, I got down from the bed. Putting on the sleepers, I took small, cautious steps towards the door.
I didn’t know this place because when I was brought here, I was unconscious. But getting out of the room, I could say this place was enormous.
It was a gigantic mansion, I was currently staying in a room on the second floor.
The whole mansion was silent, dim lights on the hallway and the foyer kept this palace lit. Everyone must be sleeping, no one was awake.
This was my chance. My abductor must be sleeping too.
I descended through the stairs and walked past the hallway, living room and foyer. This place was undoubtedly beautiful but at 2.30 am when everyone was sleeping, I was trying to escape this place kinda seemed scary.
I walked to the main door and it was locked from inside. It was a simple lock, I was glad. I would be able to open it.
I turned the doorknob and the door was unlocked instantly, it didn’t even create a bit noise.
“Yes!” I grinned triumphantly. But when I opened the door, something unexpected happened.
All the lights were turned on making the place bright like day and a loud alarm began ringing. The sharp sound made me puzzled. I was at my wit’s end, what to do now. Should I run back to the room where I was? Or should I try farther?
Within 5 seconds, 5 guards and 3 maids appeared there.
They fucking set an alarm. This is why there were no guards.
How could I be so stupid?
And with long strides, my abductor stood in front of me. He was staring at me with his hard eyes, impassive face.
“Grab her and take her back to that room.” He instructed the guards gritting his teeth. The guards
“No! Don’t touch me! Let me go!” I yelled. They held my hands and legs, restraining my movements.
“Leave! Leave!” I cried, struggled in their holds, one of them caught my both hands, another one grabbed my legs. When I struggled hard, writhing my body left and right but they didn’t release me. It made them hold me tighter, with more pressure.
I whimpered in pain.
“What is taking you so long? Take her back to the room!” My abductor snapped.
The guards roughly carried me through the stairs, ignoring my cries, screams, and whimpers. They brought me back to that room and tossed me on the bed.
They exited the room leaving me alone with my abductor.
I sat on the bed supporting my elbow, ignoring my pain. When my eyes fell on him, I swallowed hard. His eyes were hard, nostrils flared and lips were pressed firmly together. He looked pissed.
His eyes, nose, jawline, cheekbones- everything was perfect. Yet his mere eyes terrified me, telling me that he was beyond angry. That handsome face was looking scary.
He was approaching me, training his hawk eyes on me. I visibly trembled.
Veins of his forehead were popping out.
Camelia he is going to hurt you. Run!
My mind alerted me. I tried to scoot away, ready to get out of the bed and run.
“Ahhhhhh,” I screamed when a strong hand gripped my left ankle. I craned my head back to see that he caught my ankle.
“Leave me!” I shrilled. Clenching his jaw, he roughly yanked me, gripping my ankle. I fell on the bed, on my stomach.
But he flipped me on my back and hovered over me. I pushed him with both hands but he caught my both hands and put them above my head.
“Stop!” He boomed. His eyes were blazing fire.
His loud warning was enough to make my limbs immobile. He was over me, I was lying beneath him. At that time, I felt really small comparing with him, with his large tall and well build muscular body.
If he wanted he could squish me like a bug. Or worse, he might rape me.
Tears stung my eyes making my vision blurry, pouring ice water on my willpower. Would he hit me now?
Would he really sell me in the brothel?
Slowly, he moved from my body but didn’t release my wrists. I was too afraid to notice and care that my shirt rode up to my stomach, displaying my legs, panty.
“Sit up.” He instructed me. His eyes roamed all over my body once, then he shifted his gaze elsewhere.
But I was way too scared to register what he said. My blood froze.
“I said to sit up!” He yelled. His voice was hard like he was losing his control. How could I sit from a lying position when he was keeping my hands captured?
I tried to sit up, rubbing my back on the bed but failed utterly. All the time, he was gazing at me with heated and hard eyes.
“Damnit!” He cursed and pulling my hands roughly, he made me sit on the bed. I instantly looked at my lap. I wasn’t brave enough to meet his gaze.
Tears rolled down my cheeks apprehending what was waiting for me next. He already declared that he would use me. But the question was ‘how’?
“Camelia, look at me.” I heard him. But I didn’t dare to look up.
“I said look at me!” He barked and I flinched. A strangled cry escaped from my mouth, I looked up to see he was glaring at me.
“Whenever I say one thing, do it. I hate repeating myself. Or else-” He warned. I gulped.
“Got it?” He raised his brow at me.
I nodded.
“I need words!” He bellowed.
“Y-yes. I g-got it.” I choked on my tears.
His lips quirked upward in a slight smirk.
“So Camelia, why did you try to escape? As I can remember, I didn’t hit you, verbally abuse you. Moreover, I was treating you well. Why did you pull this stunt?” He questioned. This time his voice was hard yet controlled.
He didn’t hurt me, rather treating me good. Providing good food, treatment. But I tried to escape because I am scared. That he would hurt me after I am.
“Why did you try to escape? I am repeating for the last time.” He asked through his gritted teeth. I clenched the shirt that I was wearing in fear. He was losing his patience.
“B-because, I was scared,” I mumbled. My body was trembling.
But he heard it. Because I felt a soft shift in his voice.
“Camelia, look at me,” He said. I raised my face and looked at him. His gaze on me was intense but soft.
“What were you scared of when I told you no one will hurt you? I want an honest answer from you.” He inquired. His eyes never left mine.
I bit my lower lip, feeling extremely uncomfortable and scared.
“I thought you were going to sell me in the sex slavery market.” I breathed, looking at him.
His eyes widened for a nanosecond then an amused expression imprinted on his face.
“Why did you think that?” He questioned.
“Because you are mafia and mafias do bad things like this all the time,” I answered almost inaudibly, fearing he might hit me. I shrank from him.
But unexpectedly, he let out a laugh.
You could tell me stupid but when the smile adorned in his lips, he looked just beyond beautiful. Like an angel.
in reality, he was a mafia, mob, killer, no less than any monster. He stopped laughing and looked at me again.
“Camelia, I am a mafia. You are right. But rest assured that no one will touch a single hair of your body as long as you are here, let alone selling you. It’s my promise to you. And another thing, I wouldn’t take you here if I wanted to sell you. I could directly send you to the brothel. You are safe here.” He declared.
“Why are you keeping me here? Let me go. I don’t know anything.” I pleaded.
“First, get better, precioso. Then think about other things. I won’t let anything bad happen to you,” He spoke softly caressing my cheek. This unexpected gesture of him had my heart beating fast. I knew this wasn’t from fear this time. Because I felt something strange in my stomach. Is it called feeling butterflies? I wasn’t sure because it was the first time I was feeling something like that. The scariest thing was I felt it for a mafia.
He got up from the bed and walked to the door.
“And Camelia, don’t try to escape. You will create trouble for yourself. You don’t want to escape and get caught by Derek, do you?” Saying, he exited the room leaving me speechless.
He was right. I never thought about it.
If I left this place, there was a high possibility that I would get caught by Derek and Devin.
For now, I should stay here and try to get healthy. But why still my heart was thumping so fast still now?
