Enchanting Creature - Chapter Four

Odin’s POV:

My head began to spin as I forcefully tore my eyes away from the enchanting creature who stood silently before me. I glanced over at the woman who self-proclaimed to be my mate, she was not hard on the eyes and would willingly give her body to me when I demanded it. I was not sure why I had allowed her to remain with me for so long and yet I felt as if something bad would happen if I pushed her away.

Essen is not someone to take lightly, I thought to myself as I frowned slightly.

She was the reason why we had been able to remain on the run for so long, her father held ties throughout Thallyn. He agreed to help conceal my presence so long as I agreed to marry his only daughter, Essen. Unfortunately, Essen was too much like her father, bold, ambitious, demanding, and controlling. If this woman did not get what she wanted, then there would be hell to pay and she would be sure that you felt it hard.

“Odin, we don’t have time for this!” Essen snapped aggressively as she turned her back on the naked woman before us.

I sighed at her words; my head was beginning to ache as her nagging seemed to progress on more than usual. I could not have wanted the sweet release of death any more at that moment as I simply wanted to drown her out the way I usually did.

Essen was only a year younger than me and yet she enjoyed acting as if it were her who was in charge instead of me. I wanted to turn on my heels and snap back at her just like I had done our entire relationship, I refused to allow this woman to rule over me. I wanted to dig my enlarged paws into the soil of Thallyn, there were many times when I had wanted to sink my canines deep into her neck and rejoice as I felt it snap within my jaws.

The naked woman behind Essen shifted her body weight slightly and yet it was just enough for her to draw me in and hold me while the world seemed to fade into a bleak nothingness. Something stirred within me as she lifted her head slightly and grazed her eyes over my half-naked body. The sun was peeking out just enough from the clouds to reveal the glistening sweat that formed on my abs.

We may have been residing within the northern parts of Thallyn where it was always cold and covered in ice, but my body was working hard to keep me warm. The pheromones radiating from Essen had made me work up a sweat and yet I now barely even noticed the effect that she had once had on my body during these times.

I released the breath that I had been holding this entire time and watched as the thin cloud of fog exited from my nose and dissipated within the cold air. The women’s eyes finally made their way up to my face as she had been slowly examining me with an approving smile on her full lips. I wanted to stop breathing once again once her captivating eyes met mine, I felt the world slowly fade away as Essen became nothing more than a whisper from before me.

There was something about this woman’s black opal-like eyes that drew me in and held me there, the world faded away just as it once had before I was drawn to the Dead Sea. Only she existed within this silent and still, world and I would give anything to become one with her. I took that moment to look at her and to consume her appearance with my eager eyes.

She parted her rogue lips slightly as if she wanted to say something and yet she could not seem to find her words. Her long ebony hair hung heavily over her shoulders as they were weighed down by ice and water. The straight locks of hair covered most of her body and yet I could see enough to give an approving smirk. She could not have been any older than eighteen with a voluptuous frame that seemed to mold with her surroundings. Her olive skin tone seemed flawless without a single mark upon it, her tanned hair reached just past her knees as if it had never been cut a day in her life.

Isn’t she cold? I thought at that moment as my eyes quickly shot back up to her beautiful and enchanting face.

She appeared as a goddess with unmatched beauty that was not of this world and yet that was impossible as gods and goddesses were not real.

Who is she? I wanted to ask before Essen's shrill voice tore through my thoughts and ripped me from the enchantment this creature had over me.

“Odin!” Essen shouted angrily as I chose to openly ignore her.

“Your eyes,” I said after a moment as I pushed Essen aside and approached the woman before me.

I could still feel the hold that the woman had over me and yet I did not seem to care, I wanted to give in, to obey her every word to make her the happiest creature within this barren land. I could sense something within her that drew me in, and my wolf could not help but agree, Essen was the least of my problems at that moment despite what pushing her away would mean.

The creature met my steps as she closed the distance between us and reached her hand up slowly before hovering her fingertips at the base of my chest as if afraid to touch me. Something within me desperately screamed for her to touch me, I needed to feel the heat from her body. The shocks of electricity that was created from our close contact sent goosebumps along my arms, it was a feeling that I had been told about my entire life and would one day experience.

This woman was my mate.
