I want to know

I went to the Beta’s wing to find Joshua. “Good afternoon, Bonnie. Is Joshua home?” I looked at Bonnie, his mom.

I see her head jump up while she has a great smile on her face. “Adam! Nice to see you, this afternoon. Come in! Do you want some tea? I can make you some.. Here. Sit down, I’ve bakes some fresh cookies this morning. Please, take two. You need to grow.” she all said in one breathe, while her eyes went over my body.

I know I'm a bit skinny, but it’s not because I don’t eat. I like to eat, actually. I smiled back to Bonnie. “No, Ma’m. I’m just looking for Joshua, but thanks a lot. Have you seen him?” She frowned, “Yes, I think he went outside around fifteen minutes ago. Maybe he went to the gym?” I nod, I think so too. I walk over to her and give her a kiss on the cheek, “I’ll take some cookies for on the go. Thanks, Bonnie. You are the best!” and I walked out of the door.

Bonnie is really a great woman. Her name suits her too, she’s a warm and bubbly personality. She is small, has honey blonde hair and her big brown eyes completes her pretty face. Many people would call her a bit fat, but she likes to say ‘chubby or curvy’. She likes food as much as I do and always tries to food me when I walk into their wing. I put one of the cookies into my mouth and a moan leaves my body. The taste is awesome. She’s a great cook.

I enter the gym and immediately see my friend. “Josh! Here you are, do you mind if I join you?” I ask him. He stops punching at the punching bag and looks at me. “Off course not, even better. Let’s kick your ass. Come on!” he said with a smile on his face. He knows he can’t beat me. But he trains a lot, and is a good fighter. You can tell he’s a strong beta.

I take my shirt off and leave my shoes in the corner. With some boxing gloves on, I enter the ring. “Let’s show me your moves, big boy.” Joshua is big. Almost 6,5 feet long. I’m tall too, but with my 6,1 feet he’s a head taller than me. He looks like his mother, with his blonde hair and brown eyes. And because he trains a lot, he’s muscular and strong. We’ve been friends for ages now, and we know how we fight. Because I am smaller and more athletic, I am faster than he. But he is stronger in power. My mom says that I’m not done growing. Joshua is almost two years older than me, so I guess he is. I start hopping on my feet, ready to throw some punches. “Let’s go party!” I said with a smile to Joshua, before I throw him a kick to his upper leg.

After one hour we are completely out of breath and leaning with our hands on the knees. “You agree, when I say we have done enough training for today?” I asked Joshua with an exhausted tone in my voice. He nods at me, not even able to answer my question. I walk to the side and offer him a bottle of water. After a few sips, Joshua looks at me and asks: “How went the talk with your mother?”

I sat down on the floor and looked outside through the open door. I feel a breath of wind over my sweaty body. “I growled, Joshua, I growled.”

“You did WHAT?” I hear an enthusiastic voice yelling in my ear. “That’s amazing, man!” he slaps my shoulder and I shyly smiled. “I know, but I am confused. I can’t connect with my wolf, and It's been over three years now! Why can I growl, but not mindlink with my beast?”

Joshua looks at me and I know he has the same questions as me. “Did you talk to the elders? Maybe they know what’s going on?” asked Joshua. “Negative,” I said. “Mom doesn’t allow me to talk to them. She said it’s important nobody knows. Every day it becomes more difficult to hide, I got questions about it everyday. Like: ‘Adam, would you like to run with us?’, ‘Adam, you never showed us your wolf. Where is he?’. And I think some even doubted if I am truly my mother's son..”

A thought cross my head, and I look at Joshua: “Josh, what if I am part human? What if my father was a human and I am only able to growl, and not shift?” I know that when you are less than 50% wolf, you are not able to shapeshift. That’s why some hybrids, by example: half wolf and half human, are not able to shift and some are. It depends on with bloodline dominates your body: the human or wolf bloodline. Even brothers and sisters can be different in which bloodline dominates.

It’s a bit like the hair- or eye color. Some looks like more of their mom, some of their dads. In my case, with an chosen Alpha bloodline, I think the wolf-line should dominate. But you never know. I really should ask mom.

“Nah, man. Your mother would have told you that, if that was the case. She always told you she doesn’t know why you’ve not shifted yet. And you know she will never lie to you!” Joshua looks at me with a frown in his forehead. I nod. I know he’s right. Well, almost right. “I know she will never lie to me, but she’s good in hiding secrets Joshua. My mom also told me we are members from the chosen family.” I told him. I told him everything what happened in the office. Joshua looks shocked. “Woah. That’s something. But what does that mean? Do you have magic powers?” he’s chuckling while he talks to me.

I’m not sure. But I wouldn’t be surprised.
