CHAPTER 13

CHAPTER 13

A month passed and it was already December. Allison was driving to buy some groceries when a phone call disturbed her from driving. She halted to a spot and grabbed her cell phone from her clutch. She looked at the caller's ID to know who the caller was but it was labeled to be unknown. She gawked at the ringing phone for seconds before answering the call.

"Hello?"

"Hello, Ally?" her eyes widened when she realized who the caller was.

"Rebecca?" she said her friend's name in aghast with her voice as small as a mere whisper. She hadn't heard of Rebecca for a month after the night they partied at John's bar and the same night that Brent hated to recall. Even Johnsy didn't know about their lost friend's whereabouts.

"Ally, I'll explain everything to you later but please help me. I need you now. I'll text you the address where I'm currently living," said Rebecca's crying voice.

"Alright. I'll be there ASAP," she answered before ending the call. Rebecca texted soon came just as the moment she turned the ignition on. She drove to the said address with full acceleration.

When she arrived there, a tall, wide, and luxurious condominium was before her eyes. 'I see that she's been doing fine,' she thought as she halted on the parking lot. She made her way out of the car and fished out her phone to check the number of her condo. 3rd floor, room number 308. She went into the lobby and halted her steps in shock when the guard greeted her. She reciprocated the gesture with full civility, then strutted to the elevator and pressed the third floor.

"Ally!" said Rebecca gleefully and widened the door's opening. Allison gave off a smile after realizing that after a month of severance, she's doing fine.

"Come in, please." Her friend offered and she made her way inside. The moment she stepped inside, the lovely and amorous scent of lilies and roses greeted her. She looked around before taking off her shoes. The whole condo was spacious enough for a family of five children. She followed the former who sat on a leather sofa.

"Sit there, Ally," said her friend, pointing on the chair facing the sofa.

"Thank you." She sat down.

"Any refreshments you want? Coffee, tea o..." before Rebecca could continue, Allison spoke.

"Becca..." she trailed off. "I don't need anything. I'm already fine seeing you all right after a month of not knowing your whereabouts..." she stood up and ambled to Rebecca who also stood up and gave her a bear hug. A month's worth of jam-packed worries was now forgotten and swept away as the present was full of relief. She couldn’t help but feel something heavy in her heart was pulled away as she could finally breathe freely. She heard a small sniff and she realized that Rebecca was crying.

"I missed you, Ally..." said Rebecca's thick, crying voice.

"I missed you too, Becca," she answered and they both pulled away then sat on the sofa. Her dearest friend, overwhelmed with joy, wiped her endless tears.

"Becca," she held her hand, "Why were you gone?" she asked, looking into her eyes.

"Oh," Rebecca wiped a tear. "I think you already know what happened between me and Brent, right?" she nodded at the question.

"W...Well... I didn't intend to sleep with him, you know I've been desperate for his affection but I would never stoop that low. I didn't know how it happened too. He and I both took lots of shots, everything was swirling and my mind was blank. All I remember was us talking about sorts of stuff I can't recall. Then I woke up, naked and beside him. He was still asleep and I took advantage of it to get out. I moved out and began living here with my cousin, Isla. I was living my life carefree for a while until this happen..." Rebecca explained as she placed something on her hand. Allison took a hold of the thing and looked at it, realizing it was a pregnancy test containing two red lines. She covered her mouth in astonishment, "Oh God, Becca you..."

"Ally, please don't say it," Rebecca impeded her from finishing. "Please don't say it because... it'll just remind me of Brent. I don't what will he say or do when he finds this out. But Ally, please, don't tell this to him or to anyone, even to Johnsy."

Allison nodded at her friend's request. She knew that Rebecca didn’t want Johnsy to know because of what that fiery friend of hers was capable of doing. "A...And Brent... will be angry at me... I don't want that to happen..." Rebecca whimpered another cry. She leaned over and gave Rebecca another hug.

"It's going to be okay," she comforted. "I'll help you raise your baby."

"Thanks, Ally," said the muffled voice of Rebecca.

When she calmed down, the two chatted for a while, catching up after a month's separation, and laughed together like there was no tomorrow. 'Too bad, Johnsy's not here,' she thought. They made a few plans during Rebecca's pregnancy and as the conversation went deeper and deeper, Allison was getting excited. When it was almost evening, she left since she needed to go home. While walking down the parking lot, she remembered that she was still holding the pregnancy test. Sighing, she walked to the dumpster and threw it, then she went back to the parking lot.

Hades looked at Allison who just left the stinky dumpster. He had been following her for a week after the day he brought her home to her condominium. He wasn't satisfied with the stolen pictures sent by Dario every day. He wanted to see her in the flesh. He had a hard time stopping himself from going near her because he might scare her away. Seeing the fear in her eyes was already enough to hurt him. It hurt him that whenever she looked into his eyes it was like she was seeing a beast that should be feared by many, a murderer that should be avoided by the masses.

When it was already clear that she was gone, he made his way out of his car and strode to the dumpster, the ugly stench almost made him puke but that wasn't the case. Right there, on the ugly, stinking dumpster was the last thing he wanted to see on Earth.
