Sienna
I felt like I was on display as I walked through the gates of this 'Royal Academy', it was the first day of my new school. Yes. That's right, a new school. Well, it was more of a boarding school. I am to spend my last year of high school here at this academy. I hated this part of being a teenager who stuck out like a sore thumb among kids like these.
The stranger I met back home said my tuition was paid for from the day I was born by an anonymous benefactor but I knew my family knew who. I saw the sadness but reverence in their eyes when the man spoke of all the new great things that were to happen to me. As usual, I had no say in this, so I simply went and packed and said no more on the topic. I must admit it was all becoming very annoying. I had to leave a stable home once more under secret motives, no one was showing or telling me the truth and it just puts more pressure on me. Fitting in, finding new friends, and explaining my background.
"Hey watch it." I was jolted from my memories as someone bumped into me harshly. Though I am tough due to my wolf genes, that bump nearly knocked me off my feet. I only caught the back of a tall red-haired girl walking briskly towards the main building.
"Cuál está encima de su culo !!" (What's up her ass?) I muttered to myself straightening the strap on my messenger bag.
A deep male voice chuckled behind me causing me to turn around. At that moment I knew my mouth was hanging open, in front of me was probably the sexiest guy I have ever laid eyes on. He was tall and was totally built, his eyes were blue with low cut sandy brown hair and that smile was enough to cause my heart to beat double time.
"Ella siempre es así, Hermosa." (She is always like that, beautiful) he said. He spoke Spanish so fluently but his accent was British.
'A weird combination' Lana my wolf mentioned totally captivated by this guy.
"Oh. I didn't think anyone would understand what I said" I knew a blush was prominent on my cheeks as I spoke to him. He laughed once more and tilted his head to the side, studying me.
"You are new here. What is your name?"
"I...I... ummmm Si. I mean Sienna De La Vega. That's my name." I said. Did I just stutter?
He simply smiled and nods in acknowledgment. "And you are?" I asked the blush still on my face. He was about to answer when another obnoxious girl came between us, this time a brunette. "Prince Matthew Holmes, the second, and who are you to be in his presence?" she spat. I was totally shocked, a royal. I was speaking to one of the royals? I glanced behind the girl to see his reaction but he was too busy shooting daggers at the girl's head. Was she feeling those glares?
"Priscilla. Could you so kindly remove yourself from before me? I wanted to personally introduce myself to our new student to Landon Prep but as usual, you did that for me." His tone was calm but the underlying warning was there.
"S-sorry your majesty, " she said bowing her head but sent a quick glare towards me. Well, we now know who wants the prince.
"Priscilla. Move. Now." Another female voice said but this time my wolf and I felt her power and immediately went to our knees. Surprisingly, everyone around us was on their knees, the clicking of heels was coming my way in haste.
"I told you a million times to stay away from my cousin. Stop being a tick," she snapped. Peeking through my eyelashes, there I saw the blonde-haired beauty that was standing up for Matthew. That meant she was one of the royals, but which one. Priscilla scurried away. "Sienna" Matthew called out to me motioning for me to stand. I did but kept my head low, "Sienna. This is my so-called twin. Princess Mina Saville," he said smugly.
"Hi!!! Oh I love your hair! Is that your natural color? "The princess exclaimed loudly and was about to touch my hair but she stopped immediately to compose herself. "Sorry. I was told not everyone is as enthusiastic as me," she said sheepishly.
I nodded still feeling shy but somewhat welcomed? "So... Ummm I have to go to the administrators' office. So I guess I would see you guys around? "I said backing away from them.
"No need. I already signed you in. I will show you around." Matthew said offering me his arm. I was hesitant but took it.
"Matthew" Mina called out. Matthew turned towards her holding her gaze, their eyes clouded over which only mean one thing, they were talking over their mind link. Mina threw a glance at me then sighed deeply. Her eyes showed somewhat sadness when she looked at her cousin.
What was that about?
"Shall we go?" Matthew said returning to me. Lost in his blue eyes I simply nodded and allowed him to show me around.
The school was magnificent, the dorms for transfer students were so cozy, it was made to have you feel like home but to me, it didn't. Home was back in Venezuela, where my father was.
The tour of the school was actually pretty good aside from the glares I got from girls as I walked alongside Matthew. I guess I would be the outcast at Landon Prep.
"When was the last time you gave your wolf a run?" the prince asked as we stopped before a double oak door.
"It's been a while. I can't really say." I answered, flustered again as I held his gaze.
"It's a new moon tonight would you like to join me for a run?"
I nodded quickly with a big grin on my face, my cheeks were hurting from smiling but I didn't care. For a short time with Matthew, I felt wanted and at peace. I don't think I want to give up on that. "Great. Meet me here at 8." he said with matching excitement before leaving me to my own devices.
Landon Prep was every inch a high-class school. The wolves, vampires, and hybrids that were here are mainly upper class. As I went through my classes, I sensed a lot of kids that belonged to the top three ranks of all packs and covens. A few omegas were among us but they kept to themselves. I figured out who were the snotty ones to the down to earth ones among the top three ranks. The royals were comfortable with any cliques as I noticed but Princess Mina seems to be more respected than Matthew.
It was lunch and I was sitting alone observing everyone, the bullies, the nerds, the rich, and the snotty all alike they were on their own. When Mina and Matthew walked in everyone tried to make space for them but surprisingly they made their way towards me.
"Hi. How is your first day so far? You settled in good?" Mina asked while taking out her phone.
"It was somewhat alright. All these classes are pretty weird. It's not like I'm going to be an alpha. That's my brother's position." I complained. I expected normal werewolf classes like on mating, our history. The importance of ranks and so forth but learning about laws and bonds between alphas and the royals and the chain of command around the world, things that my brother learned before.
"Maybe because of your status, you are an Alpha's daughter. What if, your brother is no longer there or your parents." Mina said still typing away on her phone.
"They won't leave me. I know they won't" I said strongly. They seem to catch on with my tone and looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"Last child syndrome?" I said sheepishly.
"We understand" they grinned.
We talked for a few before I went over to the lunch line for some food. They sure put out the best for their students, goodbye mystery meat, hello Italian. There were so many great dishes to choose from but I settled for maybe one of my ten favorites - baked penne with roasted vegetables. Getting a drink to go with my meal, I was on my way to return to my table when four girls blocked my path.
"espíritus benditos luna" (blessed moon spirits) I muttered under my breath and I knew they heard me. Is it in a book of rules for the new kid to be pounced upon?
"Who are you?" The red-haired one demanded.
I was tiny, so yes I had to look up at the amazon. My wolf became defensive. It was the girl who rushed passed me earlier today. Yay, enemies!
'First time for everything' my wolf huffed. Eh, she was right, I was known as the quiet girl at my old school. No one bothered me only friendly waves and humorous conversations with any clique.
To answer Miss Queen Bee I raised my head higher and answered, "Sienna Lirio De la Vega, daughter of Alpha Emilio De la Vega."
They raised their eyebrows at me, their faces scrunched in confusion. "Never heard of him," she said boldly.
"Of course not, since my pack is originally from Venezuela" I retorted.
"My father, Alpha Robert Michelson knows every pack in the world. He's like the best there is, and never once had he mentioned a pack in Venezuela." One said haughtily. I was about to say something when a girl came and stood between us.
"Brin do you know about The Sacred Blood pack in Brazil?" she asked. The girl who now named Brin seemed to be thinking very hard along with her cronies.
"No, but....." Brin answered.
"Then you don't know every pack in the world do you?" she said cutting off Brin.
"Whatever. Just know your position around here new kid. The Royals may have given you the welcome committee but stay away from them. You are like a disgrace beside them. Especially Matthew he is ours." she sneered before leading her rag-tag group away.
When they were out of earshot, the girl who stood up for me turned and smiled at me. "They are delusional don't worry about them. Not one of them has succeeded in getting into my cousin's pants," she said pulling me back to my seat.
"Cousin?" I asked out loud.
"Hey, Sasha I guess you met Sienna," Mina said not looking up from her phone again. A frown was on her face as she texted. I wonder what's wrong with her. I felt the need to comfort her which was strange. Sasha and Matthew greeted each other but I was focused on Mina.
Her phone rang while she was texting, "Просто почему? Вы обещали мне."(Just, why? You promised me)She answered. I watched enough TV to know that she was speaking Russian. From my keen sense of hearing, the caller was a male but it was muffled. Mina took a deep breath then replied, "Когда." (When?) The answer she received sure wasn't a good one as she slowly hung up the phone then bolted out of the cafeteria.
Abandoning my food, I was about to go after her but Sasha held me back, motioning me to sit down, Matthew said nothing, only the sound of his fork against the dish while he glanced now and then towards the door. "Sometimes the people you love are the ones that hurt you the most" was all Sasha said before leaving us. Confused, I look to Matthew for answers, he simply shook his head slowly. I guess it affects the whole family with that one conversation.
