Chapter 7
“Mmm,” A moan escaped her lips, she tried to push him away but running his hands, threading her hair he pulled her closer deepening the kiss. He changed the angle further deepening the kiss, his tongue invaded her mouth, he kissed her as he owned her, she clung to him as her knees gave away, breaking apart, he rested his forehead against hers, their breath mingled, she looked into his golden eyes, “You’re mine, only mine.” He whispered.
She lay in her bed now wide awake, she immediately got up and looked around, “What the hell? First the nightmares and now another stupid dream?” She shook her head.
“Just look at him, how can someone be this perfect? Those eyes, that breathtaking handsome face, that built!” Conner was swooning over the sight as the Alpha king was commanding his subordinates.
Alexa tried to shift her gaze but her gaze landed on his lips, the lips that had claimed hers, she was vividly reminded of her dream, “No, Alex!” Snapping out of her thoughts, she slapped her cheeks, “Just stop thinking about it!” She shook her head and tried to shift her gaze to somewhere else but it ended up following him.
The entire day she had been trying to distract herself from her dream but in vain, every time she saw him she was reminded of that damn dream. So the whole day she had been ignoring him, literally running away from him.
“I could watch him the entire day,” Conner said dreamily as she leaned on the veranda’s railing.
“Sure, but I’m outta here. Bye.” Alexa turned her heels and walked inside the house.
“Alex? Wait!” Conner ran after her, “What’s wrong?” Conner asked as she saw her picking her bag pack and tossing things inside.
“Torch, check. Phone, check.” Alexa muttered as she threw things inside her backpack, though their phones didn’t work there she thought it would if she got out of this place.
“Alex?” Conner called out again.
“We need to get out of here, remember? Oh, wait! Of course, all you remember is your damn Alpha King, right?” Alexa glared at her.
“Why’re you getting so angry? Calm down,” Conner blinked at her.
“Uh-huh, it seems to me you guys have planned to settle down here for good, did you guys even contact your parents?” She narrowed her eyes at Murphy who just entered the room. Murphy scratched his head as he smiled nervously.
“I knew it!” She rolled her eyes, “Forget it. You guys can stay here as much as you want but I’m leaving.” She ran her eyes through the room. Food, she spotted, she’d definitely need to pack some. She had planned, she was going to sneak out tonight.
“Leaving?” Conner looked at Alexa and eyed her brother gesturing to him to do something.
“Hey, hey, you’re not going alone, it’s dangerous.” Murphy slowly approached her, “Okay, Calm down first and hear me out, hmm?” He put both his hands on her shoulders and made her sit on the bed.
“I borrowed Tyler’s phone, you know ours don’t work here. I told him I needed to contact my parents so that they wouldn’t worry.” He started.
Alexa raised her brows at him, “Yes, I’ve contacted them.” Hearing his words, she looked at him with hopeful eyes. “They’ll help us get out of here.” He answered with a nod.
“Really? Thank goodness!” She sighed with relief.
“But” He continued, “it will take them a few days before they can reach us, we don’t know where we are and GPS and all, nothing works here so it’ll take some time for them to locate us.” He took a pause, then continued, “Till then, we need to cooperate with them and we’re not to raise any suspicion regarding the matter.”
She stared at him hard.
“Alex,” Murphy looked at her.
She heaved a defeated sigh “okay,” she nodded reluctantly.
“Good,” He smiled at her then looked in Conner’s direction, “And you make sure to keep an eye on her,” He ordered his sister.
“Hey! I won’t run away alone,” Alexa frowned.
“You might want to.” He raised his brows, “Patience doesn’t exist in your dictionary.”
“Okay, whatever,” She pouted sulkily.
The whole day Alexa was running away from him when they crossed paths she would immediately turn her back on him when he’d try to talk to her, she’d make up excuses and avoid him. As far as he could remember, he hadn’t done anything to receive this sort of treatment. He tossed Kevin on the ground single-handedly, It was maddening him to be avoided like that by his own mate, he didn’t want to force things on her, he wanted to give her space and time to settle with her identity first, he wanted to start off as friends but if she continued to treat him like this, it wasn’t getting him anywhere.
He then grabbed Tyler by his collar and almost snapped his neck, Tyler shouted in pain, “Hey, it’s just training, remember!” He shouted bringing him back to reality.
He then released him, “Ouch, You almost killed me, man!” Tyler rubbed his neck.
Reagan sighed.
“Dear Reagan!” Tyler clicked his fingers in front of his eyes, “Snap out dude before you snap our neck,” He clapped in front of his face.
Reagan then felt her presence and turned to spot her, he was about to go to her, just then she turned around and ran off in the opposite direction... again!
“Um-hmm.” He heard Tyler clearing his throat, “Seems like our Queen has been avoiding our King, hmm?”
“That’s better. Why should we be the only ones getting ignored?” Lia mocked her brother.
“Come on now don’t be so mean to your own brother. Poor guy, you’re adding salt to his wounds.” Tyler clicked his tongue.
“I’m getting ignored by my best friend, serves him right getting ignored by his dear mate.” She shrugged.
“hmm and he gets cranky and our training ground turns into a battleground, the hellish sessions! And adding to the crisis, Alex is trying to leave,” He announced.
“What? Leave? Where?” Lia glared at him.
“Murphy came to me asking for a solution, I told him to go with the flow, tell her whatever she needs to hear, do whatever to make her stay, for the time being, she’ll stay put but we already know how impatient she is and how stubborn she can be.” He sighed.
“Is she crazy or what? she wants to go and jump herself right into the danger? She plans to offer herself on a silver plate or something?” Kevin rolled his eyes.
“I’m sure she doesn’t have any plans to burn them so let’s leave the silver plate alone.” Tyler gestured.
“Very funny, right?” Kevin glared at him.
“No offense,” Tyler winked, “Jokes apart, let’s come to the point, it’s the silence before the storm. She would lash out if she discovers we tricked her again. This time she’d kill us for real. So Mr. Mate, do you have any idea on how to awaken her powers? or any progress on finding her mother? We only have these two options here.”
Reagan let out a deep sigh.
Alexa heard a knock on her door when she opened it, the Alpha King was standing outside, he didn’t look pleased, her heart skipped a beat. Damn! Did he figure out she was avoiding him? Did she offend him?
“Hi.” He smiled awkwardly.
“Hi.” She smiled nervously.
“I don’t know how to beat around the bush so I’ll be direct.” He frowned.
“Yes?”
“You need to train yourself. You and your friends will be having training starting today.” He announced.
“Training?” She almost shouted.
“Yes.”
They reached the huge training ground, there was a running track with few hurdles on the way, a simple running track, a football ground, a boxing ring, etc. She saw her friends on their tracksuits doing stretching as a warm-up.
“Whoa! I’m so up for it,” She heard Murphy as he did sit-ups.
“Yeah!” Conner shouted as she stretched up.
“Ah! Brings back those painful memories! Those training days!” Tyler held his head. “You guys are really something, getting excited over something like this!” He patted on their back.
“Guys? You’re serious?” Alexa approached them, Reagan followed after.
“Come, Alex! It’s so exciting!” They both shouted in unison.
“Look, I’m not what you think I am, I don’t have any powers so I think this is useless.” Alexa shrugged.
“Even if that was the case, it’s not useless at all, because you don’t have any powers, you need it even more. The enemies, they don’t share your thoughts, they’re coming for you, and that day we’d all be busy fighting them and protecting ourselves and our people, that day you won’t want to be a burden, do you?”
“Burden? So I’m a burden to you guys? Look it was not my decision to be here, I didn’t ask you to bring me here and put everyone in danger,” She retorted.
“Yes but you’re one of us whether you like it or not, whether you accept it or not. We’re protecting you for your mother, if something were to happen to you, we have to answer her. So if you don’t want to weigh on our problems you better get yourself capable enough to run for your life when you need to.” Reagan chided her.
Alexa glared at him.
“Now enough with your tantrums? Get on the track.” He ordered as he joined his friends.
“Ouch! That was harsh.” Tyler whispered.
Reagan rolled his eyes. He then narrowed his eyes at Alexa, gesturing her to line up next to her friends.
Alexa was furious but quietly obliged.
“Woah!” Tyler clapped.
" 50 laps,” Reagan shouted as Kevin blew the whistle.
“What?” Alexa stopped in her tracks, she glared, “50?”
“Your friends don’t seem to have any problem. Now run, or else you’ll be left behind.” He turned his gaze to the twins who ran ahead.
“Argh!” Alexa shouted in frustration as she ran behind them. “Is he taking revenge on me because I avoided him all day?” She thought to herself. “Damn him!”
“I think that was too harsh.” Lia looked at her brother who turned deaf to her words. She let out a defeated sigh.
Amidst all this, far away from a shadow, an evil eye was lurking upon them.
