Mates
Jacob no longer lived at home with his parents, opting to live in the home they once shared with his uncle. It was a two story green Cape Cod with dark red shutters that backed up to the hill side. There was a three bay garage where Jacob kept his pickup truck and all his toys. Jacob loved to ride motorcycles and had a small collection of old bikes that he had fixed up.
Tessa had requested that he have dinner with them tonight to welcome the guest from Savannah. He was really excited about it. He usually did well with witches and he hadn’t been laid in a week or so. He made sure he looked good before heading out. He had scented the witch when she arrived. She smelled like vanilla and spice. He couldn't wait to see her face.
Jacob’s parents never interfered with his playboy ways, especially when it came to their guests. As long as everyone was willing, it wasn’t a problem. Tessa actually preferred that he “socialize” with the witches instead of the packs women. The witches didn’t have alot of hangups as far as sex was concerned, but the she -wolves could be rude bitches. They all wanted to be the next alpha female and were all trying to get Jacob. When Jacob still loved at home, Tessa was constantly helping him dodge phone calls and unexpected visits from she wolves. She had to put a few of them in their place. She would be happy when he actually found one woman to settle down with, but she wasn’t in any hurry for that. He had plenty of time.
Jacob lived a few hundred yeards away so he walked the distance from his house to theirs. As he neared the house he felt his heart begin to race. He was really excited about the prospect of getting laid tonight.
He went through the back door into the kitchen where he found hos mother. Tessa was preparing dinner, so Jacob went over to her and kissed her forehead. His father often kissed his mothers head, it's a habit he picked up from Logan. Tessa only stood a little over five feet tall and nearly every wolf in the Pack towered over her.
“Hello momma,” said Jacob.
“Hi Jacob, I’m glad you came. I’ve missed you.”
“I know. I'm sorry, I've been training a lot. Sooo, your student, she’s here?”
Tessa knew that tone of voice. She was basically her son's wingman.
“Yes,” Tessa said as she looked at him with her eyebrow arched. They both laughed out loud. His mother loved him and even this she couldn't deny him.
Jacob helped his mother carry the remaining dishes and then seated himself beside her so that he could be near his new baby sister. Like Logan, Jacob was fiercely protective of his siblings. Plus, he hadn't seen her nearly all week. He adored Marissa. Having a little brother was fun. but Marissa was his little angel.
Just then, Lorena appeared through the dining room door. Jacobs heart began to race as he locked eyes with the beautful woman that moved closer. She was breathtaking. She abruptly looked away from him and took took a seat at the other end of the table. It was obvious to Tessa that Lorena was uncomfortable and didn’t want to be near Jacob. A sinking feeling grew in her belly as Tessa realized that this evening wasn’t going to go the way Jacob wanted it to.
But, Jacob could not take his eyes off Lorena.
Logan realizing the situation at hand spoke,” Jacob, maybe you and Lorena would like to have dinner privately.”
Jacob looked away to his father and nodded. He stood to go to Lorena but stopped in his tracks when she said, “No, I would like to stay and have dinner with the family, if that's alright.”
Logan scoffed but Tessa said, “Of course it is dear.”
The tension in the air was thick. Jacobs feelings were hurt that she declined to be alone with him. He wanted nothing more than to put his arms around her. However, Tessa had intervened because she saw something that Jacob had not. The very beautiful engagement ring on Lorenas finger.
Lorena was clearly not interested in dealing with Jacob at this time.
Erik, being too young to understand such things, talked to Lorena like they were old friends. He really liked Tessa, and it was pissing off Jacob. The normally kind and fun-loving man growled lowly at his brother in warning. Tessa smacked the back of his head in response. She knew about pack order and beahvior. She normally wouldn't interfere but she wasn't having that nonsense at her dinner table. Especially not from her own children.
When dinner was finished, Jacob asked Loreana to go somewhere to talk privately. She looked to Tessa with a concerned look on her face. She really didn’t want to talk to him.
“Actually, Jacob can your father and I borrow Lorena for a moment?” said Tessa.
Logan looked at his wife with a questioning look but followed her and Lorena into the den. Once the door closed, Tessa poured Lorena a glass of wine and sat next to her of the sofa while Logan leaned against his desk.
“So what’s going on Lorena?” asked Tessa.
Lorena spoke, “I know that Jacob is my mate. I felt it as soon as I saw him. But, I don’t want to be with him. I’m engaged to be married in a few months.”
Logan rubbed his hand down his face and Tessa took a deep breath before saying, “Are you certain Lorena? Do you want to give him a chance at all?”
“I am sure and no I don’t want to be with Jacob. I am going to reject him. If you want me to leave now I will and I completely understand.”
Logan and Tessa looked at each other. “I think it would be best if you tell him personally Lorena. If he gives you any issue after that, we will deal with him,” said Tessa.
Lorena got up and walked to the door. She looked back and said, ‘I am really sorry about all this.”
“It’s alright dear. You love who you love. You don’t have to leave, I would love for you to stay for the next few weeks, but do as you must,” answered Tessa.
Lorena nodded and then walked out.
In her mind, Darius was her mate. She was faithful to him because she chose to be not because of some magic trick. She didn’t know Jacob and didn’t want to. Her life was in Savannah.
She sighed and decided then and there she would need to be very clear with Jacob right now.
Logan knew that this wasn’t going to go well and took Tessa’s hand. He kissed it then led her to the kitchen to wait. When Logan and Tessa met, there was no one in the world who could have kept him from her. No one.
Although Jacob looks like his uncle, he is Logan and Tessa's son. That horrible temper was in there somewhere.
