Chapter 10
"No Morgan, Seriously? Take those off right now. You cannot wear that tonight." Kim said to me as I came out the bathroom.
"What Kim? You're that desperate to see me naked?" I laughed. "Why can't I wear? They're mind aren't they?"
"No, I do not want to see you naked." Kim responded. "You my friend aren't my type; neither is your body."
"What is that supposed mean?" I asked putting my hands on my hips.
"No offence sweetie but I rather seeing hot guys—you aren't a guy. But seriously Morgan, change that bra and that underwear please."
"Why?"
"Because they don't match and they are plain and boring. They're like granny panties and tonight is your birthday. You're going out with friends and a guy who is practically your boyfriend. You have to wear something sexy." Kim said to me as if this was an important lesson.
"Sexy underwear are overrated and uncomfortable. And what does it matter? They are going to be under my dress, its not like anyone is going to see them, so who cares?"
"I saw them and now Im going to have that awful image engraved in my head for the rest of the night. I might accidentally blurt out that you're wearing granny panties to everyone." Kim teased.
"And I don't care what you think Kim. They're my granny panties and I love them very much." I said to her picking up my robe to put on.
"What about what Sean thinks?" Kim asked raising a challenging brow.
"Sean isn't going to know or care what I'm wearing under my clothes." I said to her.
"And what if you get lucky tonight and he takes you home? It's your birthday after all. He's going to see what you're wearing then."
"I don't plan on getting that lucky tonight Kim," I rolled my eyes at her. "Sean and I haven't even known each other for two months yet."
"So? You said it yourself, you think he's a great guy. He's sweet and caring, you find him super attractive, you really like him and the two of you are even getting closer now. Youre almost official now so what does it matter how long youve known him?" Kim asked me.
"And it's not like you're all that innocent either so you're a bit scared and want to wait for a while before losing your virtue to him. Personally, I don't see it matters how long you know a person before taking that next step with them. Especially if you're going to be together anyway."
"Gee Kim, thanks I get it okay." I said rolling my eyes at her. "And just because I'm not innocent doesn't mean that I want to just jump right ahead in sleeping with the next person I'm getting to know okay? Sean and I are still in the process of getting to know each other and I think he's fine with us taking things slow."
"I also don't see an issue in taking things slowly- one step at a time either- but I see an issue in you wearing those undergarments tonight." Kim said while trying to hold back a mischievous grin. "You might not be planning to get lucky with Sean tonight but you need to start practicing getting used to wearing sexy underwear or lingerie whenever you're going out with him. That way, if and when things does get interesting, you're already prepared."
"Kim I really don't think teaching is the right profession for you. You should probably become a relationship advisor or something." I couldnt help smiling then shaking my head at her.
"Yeah, I'll gladly be your advisor." Kim chuckled. "I'm going to take a shower now. By the time Im out we can start getting ready."
After Kim had gone to the bathroom, I looked at my undergarments once again before deciding to take her advice. I doubt it'll hurt to wear something more enticing for tonight.
We were out at this nice diner celebrating my birthday. There were five of us here tonight; Me, Sean, Kim, my other friends Joanna and her boyfriend Dwayne.
Those three have been my best friends since high school. Joanna and Dwayne have been together since the 9th grade. It was somewhat of a tradition for us to go out and celebrate our birthdays every year. This year however, Sean was the new addition to our group.
We usually go out to eat and then we would drag each other to some club later on and try to get the birthday person super drunk. We've been doing it even before we were 21. But tonight that Sean was here with us, we decided to skip out on the clubbing. I didn't want him to feel like he was hanging out with a bunch of wild immature kids or anything.
For my birthday, I was having weird cravings. I wanted sushi along with chicken pizza with extra cheese and full house toppings along with potato wedges and chocolate milkshake. And that was exactly what I ordered. I know that I probably looked like a greedy person but I didn't care. It was my birthday so I think that I was allowed to pig out if I wanted. I had come prepared to eat.
Seeing that it was my birthday, we got dessert- ice cream and cake- on the house and the birthday song being sung by some of the employeeseven a few of the customers joined in as well— which made me feel really special. After everything, the guys decided to give me their gifts. Joanna and Dwayne's gift was a medium box wrapped and they insisted that I open it when I got home which made me really suspicious. Kim got me one of those really pretty bracelets which I promised I was never going to take off.
"I wasn't sure what to get you," Sean said to me.
"That's okay you didn't have to get me anything. The fact that I've lived to see another year and you guys are here celebrating with me tonight, is everything."
"But I did get you something. Actually, I got you two things." Sean said placing two small wrapped boxes on the table in front of me.
"Uhm, maybe you should open this one first in case you don't like the second one."
"Why wouldn't I? I think I'll like anything you got me." I smiled at him before tearing off the gift wrapping paper off the box and opening it.
After seeing Seans gift, I was in awe. "Sean... It’s really beautiful, thank you. I love it."
It was a cute gold necklace with a diamond heart pendant.
"You're welcome but I wished you'd promise me the same thing you promised Kim. I think I'm a little jealous of that." Sean chuckled.
"Wow, that is really pretty." Kim said in awe as well.
"It is so beautiful" Joanna and Kim agreed as I took the necklace from the box.
"Okay I promise, I'm never taking this off." I chuckled as I admired the necklace. "Thanks again Sean. I absolutely love it."
"Here let me..." Sean responded with a satisfied smile as he took the necklace from me and stood up to put it around my neck.
"Its the best gift Sean." I said giving him a hug before he sit back down.
"Hey, what about ours?" Kim, Joanna and Dwayne all protested playfully.
"I haven't seen your gift as yet –since you insisted that I only open it when I get homeso I can't judge yours as yet. But Kim, don't worry yours is the best too." I said to them.
"It's okay, I'm not mad." Kim responded with a mile. Im just teasing.
"You can open the second gift now." Sean said to me. "Since you loved the first one, I really hope that youll love this one too. Don't freak out or anything though..."
"Why? Its not an engagement ring or something like that already is it?" I joked while opening the box.
"No, it’s not." Sean laughed but looked a bit nervous.
"Then why would I freak out.... Oh my God...Sean?" I gasped in disbelief at what the second gift was.
"Is it the engagement ring?" Dwayne joked.
"No....Sean? What is this?" I asked nervously taking out the key and fob from the box.
"No way." "Is that what I think it is?"
Kim and Joanna said in surprise and excitement.
"You told me about taking the bus to and from school every day so I figured this would make things less stressful and easier for you." Sean smiled nervously. "Please tell me you'll accept it...Happy birthday Morgan."
"Cool, nice gift bro." Dwayne said to Sean. "Is it that Grey BMW I saw out front earlier?"
"Yeah," Sean nodded while keeping his eyes on Morgan.
"Damn Morgan, you just got a super cool car." Dwayne said to me while I was still in shock.
Omg, Seriously? Did Sean just got me a car for my birthday? This was unbelievable.
"What?" I said looking at the key in my hand and back at Sean "No, no, you just bought me a car? You cannot do that... Why would you do that? You barely even know me.... No way, that's too much I can't accept this."
"Morgan, I already bought it for you. It’s yours to keep, its nothing really. Now you won't have to worry about taking the bus or taxi to school. You won't have to rush or worry that you'll miss it because now you have your own ride." Sean said to me.
"Sean, thank you but I cannot accept this. I can accept the necklace but a car? A car is a bit too much." I said shaking my hand giving him back the key.
"Morgan, I already have a car. I bought this one for you, I paid for it in full, it is insured and everything already. If I take it back, I won't have any use for it. Please, I want you to accept it, I thought about you when I bought this car and I know it is definitely a struggle catching the bus everyday so I wanted to help. If you don't accept this, I'm going be really humiliated and disappointed." Sean responded still holding the key in my hand.
"In case you're worrying that I bought you this car and I'm going to want something in return, that's not it. I didn't buy it with an ulterior motive. It's just a gift, it doesn't have to mean anything if you don't want it to. I promise you I'm not going to force you into anything you don’t want or uncomfortable with just because I bought you a car. I really like you Morgan but I won't try anything out of the way with you. I can afford this gift so could you please just think of it as a thoughtful present from a friend. Like Kim or any other of your friends here tonight bought you a gift. Morgan please just accept it."
I really still can't believe this. It was hard to process that a guy bought me a car without even knowing me for as much as two or three proper months?
"Sean..." I was unsure of what else to say but I did the one thing I know would express everything I was feeling right now.
I leaned in taking his face in my hands and kissed him. I could hear Kim and the others cheering as I let Sean know how I felt about him and everything else in that moment.
