Everything within them is looking to kill....*

-The warning of the Blood Beasts

(Amelia POV)

Through my hazy vision I was sure I saw Owen standing above me, his face surrounded by bright light as if he was an angel sent to envelope me in love and belonging. Maybe it was just a dream, because so much in the last few days had been more of dream, and it was hard to distinguish what was real at this point.

The soft humming and beeps started leaking into my ears and alerting me to the fact that I was not at home. The blanket covering me is thin and not as soft as the one on my bed. Everything beyond my eye lids are bright and even with my eyes closed it was uncomfortable. I could hear voices softly speaking around me, and they sounded so familiar that a soft smile crept up on my face. One of those voices was Owen and hearing him speak softly was making my heart race. His voice was calming to me, I was sure no other sound would ever make me feel that way.

I still felt sleepy, but I needed to wake up. Something about what happened this morning was strange, nothing like the vision I had seen, and it was time to figure it out. So, I shifted slightly trying to wake up my limp body.

“I think she is waking up again.” His voice says closer to me than before.

“I will get the doctor; he will want to ask her some questions.” The other familiar voice said, Natalia!

I opened my eyes slowly and was hit by the brightness of the florescent lights above my head making me shut them just a quick and let out an annoyed groan.

“Too bright!” I whined.

A small laugh came from the side of me, and I smiled to myself.

“Let me turn the lights down a little.” His soft voice said followed by subtle footsteps.

Once the harsh lights had been dimmed, I attempted to open my eyes once again. The room had soft glow of light now, but everything was slightly blurred, but with a few quick blinks the room looked clear. I followed along the lengths of the room, letting my brain catch up and realize I was in a hospital room of some kind. Panic set in quickly at this, and I sat up with a quick push off my arms. The quick motion sent my head spinning and I threw my hand to it and squeezed my eyes shut.

“Hey, take it slow. You have been out for a while, so don’t rush it.” Owen was close again and brushed his hand and letting it rest on my shoulder.

He pulled his hand away when I shuttered under his touch.

“Sorry did I hurt you?” he asked with a slightly panicked tone.

He shuffled on his feet nervously, looking down at his hands with a clenched jaw. He looked like he had been scolded, but he didn’t realize that I had felt the mate bond when he had touched me, and it took me by surprise.

“No, no! You didn’t hurt me. I was just a little surprised for a second when I felt the mate bond that’s all.” I say simply.

He looked back at me wide eyed and slightly confused and I could not help but smile at how cute he looked.

“You-you felt it?” He stutters out.

“Of course, I did, I was just out of it from being asleep that it made me shiver. But you didn’t hurt me I promise!” I tell him with a shy but reassuring smile.

Words could not describe the expression that came over his face when I told him I felt the mate bond. He lite up and his smile was pure joy, and once he realized he turned shy and turned away from me. Everything about this moment was adorable, and I could not help the laugh that left my mouth at seeing him so shy. I had been more of the shy one when we met in my vision, but now I was easily making him blush and I admit I liked it. It was nice to make him slightly flustered like he had done to me so many times. Or he would have if what had happened in my vison was how we first met, but it wasn’t.

The realization made my smile and laugh fade. Nothing since I awoke from my vison has been right. Why had things changed? Amira told me she suspected blood beasts to be involved, and I had seen one. I had only gone outside because….because the white wolf spirits were emerging this morning. Anaya was being overpowered by them. What was happening? I wasn’t supposed to emerge for a while still, so why was I feeling the emergence so soon? Why was the blood beast there? Why was I so drawn to him?

Owen had his back turned to me still and I watched as he seemed to be giving himself a pep talk in his own mind. I smiled at this cute quark and when he turned to me, I held out my hand for him to shake.

“Hi I am Amelia. Your mate.” I say simply.

Because even though this had not been the sweet meeting we shared in my vision, he was here, and I found I didn’t mind how we met as long as we had.

“I’m Owen, nice to meet you!” He said taking my hand gentle in his own.

“Sorry this is how we met, I’m sure I didn’t give a great first impression. I look like a mess I am sure.” I say tucking some stray hairs behind my ear.

He shook his head. “You are…really beautiful.” He said shyly.

“Thank you! You are very handsome as well.” I say feeling my confidence wavering and blushing slightly.

He smiled back at me and we exchange shy smiles and blushes until a soft knock was heard.

“Ok, so…Oh you are awake? That’s good. The doctor will be here in just a moment to go over all your tests and to ask a few questions.” Natalia says with a professional smile.

I could see her slight confusion though when our eyes met. There was familiarity on my side, and she seemed taken aback by my ease in her presence.

“Are you hungry?” Owen asks suddenly. “I can go to the cafeteria and get you something!”

He seemed eager, and I couldn’t refuse his offer with a look like that.

“Sure! Thank you! Anything is fine!” I say with my sweetest smile.

He nodded quickly and left the room.

“So, are you feeling alright? Any headaches or dizziness?” Natalia ask checking my vitals.

“A little at first, but not much now. Don’t worry Natalia, I think I am fine.” I say enunciating her name.

Her movements stilled at the sound of her name and she stood straight to look back at me.

“You-you know who I am?” She asks nervously.

“Yes, I saw you in a vision.” I tell her straight out.

“A-a vision?” She asks searching my eyes for confirmation.

I nod slightly.

She sits on the bed beside me. “But how?” She whispers.

“That is a very very long story, but I know that you have been waiting for me, and that you were sent by Elder Cha’tima. I am telling you this because I need his help.” I reply with a whisper as well.

It was almost comical how wide her eyes grew when she heard everything.

“I know this is a lot, and I will explain fully later but I need to speak with him soon. I know he has visions, and I need to know what he has seen. Everything that has happen since I had my visons is different. Something has happened, and I need to know what he has seen.” I tell her a little more frantically.

She still looks too stunned and I am not sure if she has heard everything, I said but there wasn’t a chance to find out when the doctor suddenly comes in.

“Good morning miss. I am glad to see you awake.” He says with a smile. “I have the results of the tests we performed while you were unconscious. I hope you are not too upset that we did so without your consent, but when someone is unresponsive it is standard to run at least basic blood test to see if there is a cause for their unconscious state.”

“No I understand.” I say glancing from him back to Natalia who had moved to the corner of the room and seemed deep in thought.

“Well first off, you are very healthy. No real issues concerning your human health. However, on the side of your wolf I do have a concern.” He walked to the side of my bed and unraveled what I assumed were brainwave scans.

“Now human medicine is not equipped to test certain aspects of our wolf side, but using brain waves we are able to pick up certain indications of the wolf side without verbalization. You see here? This second line is the wave that belongs to the side of your mind that is your wolf side. When your wolf takes over, this side this line would be more active. Now do you see these?” He points to the several other colored lines on the paper. “These indicate you have not one wolf but at least 3 others that reside in a more dormant state within your brain. This is very unusual and could be a serious cause for concern.”

I was still for a few moments even when his eyes turned to me. I wasn’t sure if I should tell people about the vision I had. For one I was sure most people would not believe it, and I only told Natalia because she was familiar with that sort of talk because of her elder. I was sure others would not be as accepting and had planned to keep it to myself if possible. Now with what the doctor was showing me, I felt like I needed to tell him. He was not a familiar face to me, since he was a regular practician and not the doctor from my vision who had helped with my pregnancy.

Could I trust him? I looked to Natalia, and she nodded to me to tell me it was ok.

“It is a little hard to explain doctor, but I am a white wolf. Within me is the spiritual energy of all white wolves before me. Those brain waves belong to them.” I say out right.

He looks at me with a muted expression and I feel my anxiety grow when he gives no reaction.

“A white wolf?” Owen stood in the doorway and I felt my heart stop at the sudden sound of his voice.

“I am.”
