Chapter 6

Isabelle

I had been out in the wild a month, and I looked at my phone, it was at 85% and I had already called my family to let them know I was fine. I put all my things into my tent, and I would hunt now and get a fire going. I was the biggest thing out here, so no one would bother my stuff while I was gone.

I took off my clothes and shifted nearly instantly. It still hurt ever so slightly to shift because I was so short as a human, but my wolf was the size of an Alpha. I sniffed the air, ready to find some food. Deer would be too big, and a rabbit too small…. So I would settle for deer. I could cook what I had on the fire. It would last a few days, and I could eat it as my wolf, so nothing goes bad.

I smelled the air and found a small male deer. He wasn’t paying attention to me, it was the rut season for him, and he was too busy looking for a girlfriend instead of predators. If I were in my human form, I would have laughed. This was easy. I leaned down as low as I could go. It really helped that I was a fluffy black wolf in the nearly moonless night.

I took a step forward, and a small twig snapped under my weight. Crap, I thought, running after it, wasting more energy than I had planned to catch the thing. I chased him far into the woods, deeper than I had been and far away from my camp. I killed him though, and chose to carry the damn thing all the way back.

As I trotted, I swore I heard something else around me, but as the biggest wolf in the area, I wasn’t too worried. Most Rouges when they saw my wolf headed for the hills, so that I was already my wolf meant that I wouldn’t have a problem. I got to my camp, shifted, skinned and gutted the deer, and started using my knife and my strength to divide it up. I tossed the inedible stuff in the fire, to keep down the scent.

It was sloppy but I managed to get it into 6 equal parts. The fire I made sucked. Even with a fire starter kit, it kept going out, I put a big log on it, and it seemed to roar for a minute, I sighed. This was getting annoying. I wished I paid more attention in school.

I heard a loud purposeful snap of a twig.

Naked men and wolves had me surrounded… and I was just in some shorts and a tank top.

“Well, well ,well boys, lookie here… a female… a very small… innocent female.” I assume their leader snickered. He was about 6’1, had grey hair, and looked about 30ish. I realized that he was the guy from when I first left… had they followed me this entire time? They had been out here a while by the look of how ragged they all were. Rouges don’t want packs; they want to make trouble. I would have none of it. They didn’t scare me. I saw a few more come out the shadows.

I wasn’t surprised that they were terrified of dad, but not me... “Fuck off, I’m not in the mood to play with weaklings.” I growl like an Alpha. It surprised him, but he still took two steps forward.

“There’s 15 of us girly, and that gear and meat you got there would go into much better use with us… and that body of yours too…. Play nice and you just might see sunrise. Daddy’s not here to save you.” He said, licking his lips.

I growled and shifted. So did they. I fought them off as best as I could, and for the longest time, I held my own. I went for their leader, We snarled and bit at each other, but I was bigger than him. I pinned him to the ground, but I didn’t know what to do after that. He didn’t submit… and I had never killed anyone before.

One of them bit me on the leg in my hesitation, and I screamed. I let go of the leader, to snap at the guy in his face. It didn’t connect, but I was close enough that I scared him off me. He didn’t plan on the fact that I was agile from all the training with large, impossibly strong males my entire life. It was one of the only things I had going for me in training hand to hand, and then as my wolf.

They were getting bold after I didn’t kill their leader, and they all started to try and bite at me. I ran and then held my ground behind a large tree. It was crappy cover, but at least no one could get me as good with nothing. They howled victory, while I howled dominance.

There was a roar so loud that most of the men lost their form. Everyone else, including me submitted. It was close.

Too close.

There was silence.

In the dim light of the moon I saw him. He was large. He was covered in scars all over his muscular body. His face was a battle scarred, chiseled, stone cold gazed man as he walked naked, but thankfully his nakedness was obscured by the thick bushes. His eyes were red with his wolf… he really was an Alpha. A Rouge Alpha in the woods…. He had to be at least as tall as my father. He snarled, looking at them. The birds scattered from the trees, and the wind blew at my back, so I couldn’t get his scent, but I could only imagine it was powerful.

“You come into my marked land and wake me.” He snarled; his deep voice resonated throughout the forest. “You then find and harass a female. A Very Naive Female.” His eyes darted to me, and I couldn’t look away… I couldn’t avert my eyes from his red ones. He ignored my disrespect, taking in a deep breath. “None of you are living for this.” He growled, shifting into the largest wolf I’ve seen since I left home. He looked like he was dark brown and not black…. The moon reflected just enough to make that out. However, … I couldn’t make out his eye color anymore.

He charged them. They all tried to scramble out the way except for the leader. “We can all take him!” he yelled, getting some of them to come to his aid. He was right… 15 against 1 was crazy odds. They all rushed him before he could get to their leader, but he was a war machine. All I could do was watch as my wolf.

The massive Alpha whipped his head around and snapped the neck of one in an instant. They all bit at him, and he killed them one by one as his wolf. I could see it now; his eyes were black… I had only seen one other person with eyes that color as their wolf…. He snapped me from my thoughts, because he whipped around, shifted into his human form, and punched a wolf lunging at me with enough force I could hear bones break. It forced me to shift into my human form.

The rest scattered after that. He walked up to me, so close I could feel his body heat. I was in a panic. I just looked up at him in his blood red eyes…. his eyes were red in his human form…. I had never seen that before. What did it mean? He literally ripped those guys into shreds. Just poof, 15 wolves gone off the planet in a matter of minutes by one wolf. I flinched when he leaned down to meet me at my eye level.

“Little girl.” He sneered, “Go home.” He said, turning and walking away.

I composed myself, and mentally slapped myself for letting fear overtake me. “Wait.” I yelled hesitantly. The hulking man stopped, turning only his head in my direction. “…Thank you!” I tell him, and he continued to walk off.

I had had enough of this area. There was no way in hell I was going to stay another night like I planned with all the nonsense going around. I went back to my small camp, and put all the meat I gathered in a large garbage bag I had packed with me. It wasn’t the best, but it was all I had. I made sure my crap fire was out, and undid my tent. I was just getting the hang of pitching it.

I walked through the woods, and in the dark, I made my way in a random direction as my wolf. I could check my map in the morning with my phone, and change direction if I needed. It wasn’t like I was headed to any particular place or pack, but I was starting to think that maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start thinking about it.
