Chapter 5

Autumn

It was a good thing I was around, or Oliver’s dog could have gotten out, and all these veggies and meat would have been bad by the time he gets home. It was 11pm, and he was still out. I found it odd, and I wish I had got his number so I could call him. He was so handsome to.

That voice of his was satiny and smooth, knowing me I would probably stutter like a mad woman. I decided to hop in the shower, Alpha, Oliver’s dog, sat on my bed, facing away from me when I changed, asleep. Or so I thought, he would open his yellow eyes every so often, but face away like he was trying not to peep. Such a smart silly thing he is.

I patted his head before the water was ready. Last time I didn’t wait because I was so startled, but the water has to run for a minute before getting hot. One of the things I missed about home. Alpha also must have been a more common name than I thought. Even a dog is named it. Oh well, I washed my hair and got out after about 45 minutes. I got into an old big t-shirt and my sleep shorts.

I went to sleep hugging that huge dog, he made me feel so safe. I would have to yell at Oliver tomorrow, I wouldn’t wait the whole night for him. He embraced me, almost like a man. I swear I could feel big strong arms holding me as I slept, but that was impossible. Alpha would tear an intruder to shreds, you don’t buy a dog that big, and protective for nothing. That he liked me was a surprise, but I guess it was because I was familiar with the breed, or it could be I smelled like his owner.

I woke up to see the big dog was already up, watching TV like a good boy. “Good morning Alpha, you’re such a smart boy!” I hug him, and pet him, feeling that same weird sensation that I get with Oliver. I love this dog; Oliver might not get him back. He didn’t even wet in the house!

I took him outside to do his business, but he didn’t have to go. “Alpha be my big boy and go to the bathroom! If you mess in my house, I’ll never let you stay again.” I say sternly. Oliver’s Native American friend looked like he saw a ghost when I yelled at Alpha, I guess because he’s afraid of him. He’s a good boy, and he went in the alley, and followed me back upstairs. He wasn’t even afraid to get on the elevator.

I had to go to work, so I just hoped for the best, and put him in my apartment. He was happy as a clam in my house, and I left for my shift. “Hey can you wait in the lobby while I go… get something from my apartment?” Asked Clint. I nodded and waited. Clint got on the elevator, and I saw a familiar red car honk their horn.

I saw Mr. Razer’s car pull up, and walked outside to greet him.

“Where were you last night?” He said cheerfully, though I swear his eyes looked like they flashed green for a second when he unrolled the window.

“Mr. Smith made me go home early, and I had to watch my neighbor’s dog.” I smile. He let out a sigh and I got in.

I smiled at him, but the moment I closed the car door, he sped off and made a U-turn, going in the opposite direction. I was scared. I buckled up my seatbelt, he was going at least 100! “What’s wrong Mr. Razer! Why aren’t you taking me to work?!” I scream.

His eyes changed from brown to green and he snarled, sounding exactly like a dog. “Who’s the mutt?!” He roars, pulling over, I had no idea what he was talking about, or where we were, but it looked like we were under a bridge. He locked the doors. His fingernails grew, and so did his teeth! “You’re MY girl!” He snarled. I shook, backing against the door, unable to escape.

“Say it!” He roared.

“What?! I scream confused. I was fumbling my hands, trying to get out of the car, I couldn’t find the unlock button, where was it?!

“Say you’re my girl!” He leaned into my face; his fangs were right in my face.

“I’m…” I fell out of the car, magically finding the latch. I ran, tears ran down my cheeks. Mr. Razer was some kind of monster! An actual, literal monster, not just a playboy jerk. What was he going to do with me?

I had gotten only about ten feet when I heard the slam of his door, and my arm was grabbed. I couldn’t move, he held my arm with a strength I knew I couldn’t escape. “Stop acting like you just found out we exist, you reek of shifted, ranked wolf….” He snarled in my ear.

He slung me over his shoulder, and put me back in the car. He sat there, his eyes went from brown to green quickly, like he was trying not to attack me again. I can’t escape him, and he wouldn’t let me go. “I am going to take you to work now. And you will wait for me to pick you up. I will wait for this mutt, and I will kill him. You are mine. And when Frost comes around, I will mark you.” He growled like a bloodthirsty animal, and I was cornered against the door again. This time if I got out, I felt on instinct that I would probably get killed.

I blinked twice… what was he talking about?! “Mark?” I stutter.

“My wolf won’t let me mark you. As in claim you as mine. But you are mine, got it? I don’t want you talking to any other men or wolves, or I will kill them, just like I am going to snap the mutt’s neck that had the nerve to scent claim you.” He growled like a crazed animal again pointing a clawed finger at me.

He sounded like the biggest dog. And I wasn’t going to ask any more questions. He seemed like he was off his rocker. He sped off with a screech of his tires, and I sat there quietly. He growled loudly again, louder than I had ever heard. My body reacted on its own, I lowered my head, I didn’t know why, but I showed the back of my neck. Why would I DO that?! He could rip me to shreds, and I was exposing the most vulnerable part of my body to him. He stopped growling after that, so it worked.

I got out of his car, and he sped off. Mr. Smith was worried, and I burst into tears the moment I went into the store. I told him simply that Mr. Razer had freaked out when he picked me up, no one would believe the stuff he was talking about. Wolves? Why would I talk to wolves?

--------Oliver----------

I was in the shower in my mate’s room, her water took forever to get hot, but I didn’t have the time to wait. I was already running late, and I had to go to my office to find out, and talk to, this ‘Mayor Alpha’ in ‘Sapphire City’. That wolf was powerful enough to have even the humans working for him, so I would have to be careful what I say. Ancients are rare, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was. Maybe I could ask him about wolf-human mate relationships…. I’m sure he might know something.

I got out, and was immediately annoyed, seeing Clint inside my mate’s living room. “Alpha, the girl is trying to leave to Rouge territory. What would you have me do?” He said with a bow. She was headed to work.

“GO and walk her there! Why are you in here?! I swear to the Lady I will throw you out the window if you aren’t out of my face RIGHT now!” I growl, seeing him scramble out the door as fast as a wolf can go. I don’t have time for this! he should know to just walk her, and why didn’t he just link me?!

Alpha she just got in a red Camaro. He mind linked, stuttering every word.

I threw on my clothes, still wet, and ran down the stairs. I got into my car, driving into Razorblade territory. They weren’t an officially recognized pack, but they still had numbers and ran the local mafia racket. I know their leader was Wyatt the White, but that was about it, we weren’t in the same circles. My pack was older than the country, and we didn’t have anything to prove. This guy was new money with ambitions that made the wolf community look bad. How did she get mixed up with the mafia?

I didn’t find her, so I drove around, and mind linked my beta to issue a search party. They found her crying in the bakery. I made a U-turn, glad that she was safe, ready to kill whoever had took her.
