chapter 7

Wyatt

“I want a sweep of this section of Rouge Zone 4, I want every GrayMoon mutt killed, or put in the fucking hospital.” I growl at my meeting room.

It had been cleaned since the last time I was in there, and all of my lieutenants were there for their orders. Since yesterday, 4 of my wolves have been injured, and weren’t able to go to the hospital, because they were refused service. I didn’t deal with those uptight bastards in GrayMoon, so I wondered what I had done to piss them off. Maybe I was too soft on them. Maybe they needed the fear struck into their hearts of the Razers. We may not be official, but there was still over 573 of us that I ruled in the entire subdivision of Razer Heights.

I adopted that name when I came to the mainland 27 years ago as a pup. No one wanted me in their pack, even as an orphan, but that was more so because I was a delinquent. Everyone thinks being a white wolf means that you’re special. It doesn’t. Fur color means nothing, because it’s all about the wolf. I clawed my way to the top, and organized this scruffy little band. I did everything on my own, with no help, and loved every minute. As far as I can tell, that brat was given everything. He probably doesn’t even have the strength of an Alpha, because daddy left him with money. He probably is fucking with me for kicks.

“I’m heading to pick up my mate and bring her here.” I say firmly, my cabinet said nothing.

After my meeting was over. I went to pick up my girl, but the place was surrounded by wolves. More than I could take by myself. This was no man’s land, why are GrayMoon warriors here? Ugh. I pulled over, immediately getting snarls and growls from them. I ignored them, they would give us away to the humans, it was only 8pm, night in the city, but not so late that a human wouldn’t hear us.

I went inside the little bakery, past the wolves. The old man was there, turning off the oven from the looks of it. “Autumn doesn’t work here anymore, son.” He said sternly. His heartbeat told me he was lying.

I growl at him, making my eyes turn green and my fangs come out. “Wrong answer, old human.”

The 7 warriors came in behind me, all snarling. “Wyatt this human is under the protection of Alpha, stand down.” Snarled the one who seemed to be in charge.

“What the fuck does he care about some humans?” I snarl, taking 2 steps to the counter.

“Because one of those humans is my true mate, and you have disrespected.” Oliver snarled, coming from behind the old man. He was in the back the entire time; it was a trap. He had begun to challenge me.

“The girl is mine.” I snarl as loud as he did.

No, she is not. Said Frost. I will not help you. He said, shutting me out.

“If she were, your wolf would’ve let you mark her.” He growled.

So long as we weren’t shifting, we could fight in the city limits. I lunged at him, punching him in the face, but he didn’t flinch. He got me in the gut, making me stagger into the arms of the warriors, and they held me by the arms. He was fighting dirty, and he knew it. He took a metal spatula, and held it tight enough to make his own hand bleed.

“This is for scaring my mate.” He snarled.

------Autumn----------

Oliver sat like a giant on my sofa, with his arm wrapped around me. I sat next to him quietly, feeling safe for once since Mr. Razer’s behavior today. He smelled like expensive cologne, and his suit looked tailored, so how could he have such expensive things on I only assumed was a budget like mine, barely getting by.

“What do you do at the hospital, Oliver.” I ask, feeling him tense up to my question.

“I work with Chase in the HR department. I live here because I’m saving up to go to school.” He said casually. I leaned more onto his chest, it was starting to get late, about 7, but I was comfortable with him around. He was huge, and strong, I could feel his muscles under the suit he wore. With him or his giant dog around, I would be safe. I didn’t even realize I fell asleep.

I woke up in my bed and I was a bit disappointed. I wanted to hang out more with Oliver, but he has stuff to do, and I was off today. I got up, and did some chores around the house. I washed some stray dishes, made my bed, put away my laundry in my bin for later, and started to sweep the floor in the living room. It hit an envelope. I found a note that had been slipped under the door, along with a platinum credit card. The penmanship was familiar, and perfect.

I almost forgot. Here is some money in case you want something. Do NOT go alone, Clint is in my apartment, just knock and he will take you in his car. Oh, and Alpha went to the groomer’s today!

-Oliver

I went into my drawer and got out the old note and examined them. The writing was identical. Oliver signed the first note as Alpha… but that was the name of his dog… weird. How did he get in my house?

I went to 1003 and knocked on the door. Clint opened the door, and I walked in. He was watching Garry Stringer, and he kind of had a mess of eaten snacks and coffee on Oliver’s table. “Sorry for the mess, Luna.” He said with a smile and then froze. “I mean Autumn.” He laughed nervously.

“It’s ok, we haven’t known each other long… but I did want to ask you some stuff.” I say quietly.

He gulped, like he was scared of me. I was barely to this man’s chest. I held in a laugh, “I came to ask you something… and promise you won’t tell anyone, and promise you won’t think I’m crazy.” I say seriously. He sat in a chair and crossed his leg, nodding.

I took a deep breath. “When I was in Mr. Razer’s car, I saw his teeth and nails grow... and his eyes change from dark brown to bright green.” I say quietly and I hesitate. “He growled like a dog. Like a big actual dog, Clint. I heard it too Friday night, the mugger that robbed me got attacked by a dog, and the notes look…” I hand him the notes. “Oliver had to write both…”

I look down at the carpet, and he lets out a sigh. “Shit… do I tell her or not?” He mumbled. He got up and made me a cup of black coffee in a mug. “

I swear I won’t freak out.” I say confidently, accepting it. “…for you to say that means you know something.” I say quietly, sipping.

He fumbled around in his pockets, got out a cigarette and lit it. He didn’t smoke yet, but he let it sit in between his fingers, looking at the smoke. His eyes almost seemed to dance between hazel and orange, but I didn’t say anything. “Fuck it.” He mumbled, taking a puff of his cigarette.

“He’s a werewolf Autumn.” He says bluntly. I blink twice. I was glad I was sitting down. “I was ordered by Alpha to watch you while he’s at work. He is probably going to kill me, seeing as how he’s been trying to hide it from you so long it’s breaking his spirit.” He said bluntly, taking a puff of the cigarette.

“…. But I thought Alpha was the dog’s name?” I ask.

“No, that is Alpha Oliver’s title, you were petting his true form. He is our leader… meaning he is also the strongest wolf…. meaning that if he decides to break me in half like a KitKat no one will stop him.” He said, taking a long inhale of the cigarette and blowing it out. “He’s going to kill me.” He said with a sigh. “But smart as you are, you would have found out eventually…” He puffed his cigarette.

I was dumbfounded. I sat there in silence, absorbing what he told me. “… so you’re a werewolf too then…. And his Assistant too?” I ask, starting to feel uncomfortable.

“Yes, but I’m here to protect you while Alpha is gone. My Luna. Please do not tell him I told you anything, I don’t wanna get my ass mauled.” He said with a smile pointing at me. I nod.

So, all this time I was feeding and playing with something- no someone that could rip me in half with no effort. The thought gave me goosebumps, but if he wanted to hurt me, he freaking slept in my room so he had all the time in the world. I calmed myself down with a deep breath.

“Why do you keep calling me Luna?” I ask, still uncomfortable.

“Because you’re Alpha Oliver’s true soulmate.” He did one last big pull of his cigarette before putting it out.
