5. First Day

Alyssa was patiently waiting for the call. She had her hopes up that they will select her. Adrain seemed like an excellent Alpha which is shocking considering he’s the CEO of the company. Those kind of Alphas are usually very arrogant and difficult to deal with.

She unpacked her things the other day, keeping her clothes neatly tucked in the cupboard. Upon inspection, she realised that the omega didn’t have any work clothes. Her money was spent buying dinner and stocking food for the next few weeks. Even though she had some savings in her bank, the omega didn’t want to use them. They were for emergency reasons.

With a sigh, she dropped on the bed. The sun was scorching outside, and she decided to dry all her clothes instead of sleeping in.

As she was about to close her eyes, her phone rang.

Alyssa stared at the unknown caller.

“Hello?”

“Hello, am I talking to Ms Rivers?”

Her brows raised at the voice. It was an Alpha. Just then she realised that it must Adrian. “Yes, this is she.”

“Hi, I’m Adrian Ferro from BEFORE. Congratulations, Ms Rivers, you’re hired. I appreciate your willingness to work with us.”

Her eyes widened, and a gasp slipped out of her lips.

“Really? You’re not fucking with me, are you?”

The Alpha chuckled. “Afraid not. Be here tomorrow, on time. Business starts at nine in the morning. That means half an hour early for you, Ms Rivers.”

She nodded her head, trying not to cry. The omega felt like all her prayers were answered. Her head raised towards the ceiling.

“And tomorrow we will address your attire as well. I now have an urgent matter to get on with. See you tomorrow” The omega nodded her head, quickly mumbling her gratitude.

The next day, Alyssa quickly put on the cleanest clothes she could find. Tight white jeans and a full-sleeved v neck olive green top. She took a cab to the building.

As she paid for the taxi and thanked the driver, the omega, she felt the security eyeing her. He might be wondering why a personal meeting with BEFORE would be using a cab. She only offered him a bright smile.

Rushing inside, she was immediately greeted by Paris. Instead of usual disdain on her face, Paris had a bright smile.

“Hello Ms Rivers”

Was she alright? The omega thought to herself. The person standing in front of her wanted her gone the previous day, but now she’s smiling at her.

“Good morning” Alyssa nodded her head.

“Nice to see you’re early.”

“Thank you” She grinned.

She glanced at her watch and realised that she was early by an hour.

They shook hands briefly before Paris turned around, her heels clicking on the floor. Alyssa shrugged and decided to follow her. It looks like that was what Paris wanted when she began talking.

“You must be happy about getting this job...” Paris paused, looking over her shoulder. “but I must warn you the three of them are very difficult to work for. They are geniuses, no doubt but difficult.”

As Paris continued her speech, they passed by another hallway. She could feel the workers staring at her with immense pity. What was that about? The omega frowned but continued to listen to Paris. Right away, Alyssa could smell that Paris is a beta. Not that it mattered.

Paris started to explain the history of the building and the record label. There was pride on her face when she talked about how the three Alphas rose from nothing to everything in a matter of months. They set up the second branch within ten months. That remained a mystery to everyone, including her.

After a few minutes, they came to a halt. Paris pointed at the lavish room across the glass door. The omega peeked inside to notice the room filled with a fridge in the corner, barstools, counters, and a sink.

“This is where you'll make the coffee for three of them. Their orders are different. Don’t worry; they are printed and stuck on the fridge” Paris cleared her throat. “Just a tip. If you want to work here longer, don’t mess up their orders. The three of them are very particular with their coffee.”

Alyssa gulped but nodded. Okay, don't mess with their coffee. She repeated that in her head a couple more times.

They continued to trail until they reached another small room exactly opposite the glass office.

“This will be your new office. You can personalise it if you want. But I suggest waiting a few weeks to do that."

Alyssa was quick to catch the hidden implication that Paris didn't expect her to stay long. As if! The omega was not a quitter. She won’t go away without putting up a fight.

The rest of the tour continued for a while before she was allowed to meet her bosses.

By the time she came off the elevator, her hair was disheveled and sticking all over her face. She was confronted with a good number of employees hanging around in the reception. A lot of curious eyes looked her up and down, judging her silently, and whispers exchanged between them. Her cheeks reddened at that.

The snickering and whispering stopped as soon as Nicholas stepped out of his office.

“Ms Rivers, you’re late again.”

The slight blush on her face became a full-blown flush as she inhaled the Alphas scent. Her omega almost whined with need. Why was she so easily affected? Maybe her heat was close.

Shaking her head, she met his eyes.

“Mr Rose...Paris was giving me a tour of the office. I arrived an hour early.”

Surprisingly the typically rigid boss’s face fell. He must have thought she’s late again. Alyssa never repeats the same mistake twice.

“I see that. I apologise. Anyways care to explain the occasion for your little dress up?”

Her cheeks burned at his tone. She stared at her jeans and sneakers. Were they too dressy? Sure the sneakers had glitter on the side, and the white jeans were ripped, but that’s only because she had no option. The omega meekly shook her head.

Nicholas sighed, “I hope Adrian has told you we would be addressing the issue of your wardrobe today. Mr Jerry is set up for your fitting in our office. Let’s not keep him waiting any longer.”

Her eyes widened. They were going to make her wear their kind of clothes. She grind her teeth together. It’s not like she could protest about it. Also, the Alpha didn’t sound angry, only impatient. When the murmurs continued again, Nicholas looked over those watching and said with more sternness in his voice to then than what he spoke with her “Don’t you all have some work to do? Or are we paying you to gossip?”

They all scrambled to their desks without any word.

Alyssa froze in her place. She was a little spooked at that tone too. The omega simply followed him to the office.

“Mr Rose, where is Mr Ferro?” She asked, unable to stop herself.

The Alpha looked over his shoulder. “Don’t worry; he will be joining us in an hour.”

John Jerri, or famously known as JJ, was the most famous fashion designer in New York. He had people begging for his consultation and appointment, but he’s always busy. When Alyssa heard all those things, it shook her. That guy was going to design her outfits.

She faltered a bit when he took her hand but smiled nonetheless. “Nice to meet you.”

“Now Ms Rivers, may I call you Alyssa? Why don’t you help yourself to some tea here while we talk about some of the significance of the attire you will be receiving.”

Alyssa gawked at the tray placed in front of her. The omega shrugged and made herself a cup. Soon enough, the omega was distracted with her task, pouring herself a cup and adding some milk.

JJ cleared his throat. “Now Alyssa, your bosses have decided to reinvent many aspects of the company. Your uniform being one. And they need to. Everything about this company should make a statement. One way for a company to stand out is to not blend in with everyone. The tired old look of another boring suit hardly speaks to the vision the Alphas want to convey. Given that you need better work attire, why not start with you?”

Alyssa lifted her tea to her lips. She stopped before she sipped a taste because it was steaming hot. The last thing she wanted was to burn her tongue in the process.

“I’m looking forward to doing whatever pleases this company.”

JJ laughed, “Your enthusiasm for tasks has already been mentioned, Alyssa. Let's begin by getting some measurements. You can drink your tea while I work.”

She looked taken aback. “Are you sure about that? I may accidentally spill on you.”

“In that case drink your tea later” Nicholas added.

That’s when she realised that the Alpha was still in the room. No way she was going to get her measurements done in his presence. How should she ask him to leave his own office?
