CHAPTER 5 : Blooming Connection
“Don’t worry too much, you’re not heavy at all. Light as a feather.” Clell blurted out of the blue as if he read Luna’s mind.
Luna was very worried that she might be heavy for Clell, it was her insecurities speaking, she was just not used to a guy carrying her or be this close to a stranger—a hot stranger.
Being physically and emotionally abused at a young age, she was scared of letting people in to her life—or afraid that she might get hurt again—and be subjected to that kind of torment once more. She had built walls around her, careful and keen who to let inside.
Alicia and Ciro were the only people who managed to get in. Well, Alicia climbed her walls, while Ciro, on the other hand, just passed through it. She didn’t know how he did it, she just felt like Ciro could read her and her mind. She couldn’t hide anything from Ciro. However, this guy that she’s with right now, broke down the wall with just one meeting. Right there, at the moment, when they locked eyes, the sturdy and strong walls that she had built for a long time came crashing down between them.
It was seemingly impossible to believe, but Clell was like the guy on the other end of her red string.
“Hmmm. You’re quiet. What’s bothering you? Don’t worry, we’re almost back at the main trail.”
“Uhm, how did you know that I am worried about you having a hard time carrying me?”
“If you’re thinking that I can read minds, the answer is no, I can’t.” He said with a chuckle.
“How, you say? Hmmm, I also couldn’t explain it, but it seems like I can feel your mood or something.” He shyly continued.
She did understand him because she felt the same way too. Unable to explain what’s happening to both of them, they just kept quiet and let the comfortable silence between them. They let their feelings take over and just enjoyed the moment.
However, it didn’t take long for that tranquility and ease to be disrupted as Clell felt like there was someone watching them. Sensing danger, he started to be on guard and focused more around their surroundings. Luna felt it, too, turning her head from left to right, trying to look for someone.
"It’s tailing us. On the right side." Clell thought to himself. He shifted his eyes and saw the creature. He was now sure that the one tailing them was a werewolf, but still unsure if it’s from their pack or the other. He couldn’t reveal his true identity to Luna because she might freak out, a physical confrontation was clearly not in the picture, but he needed to protect her, therefore he tried to communicate with it through telepathy. Like vampires, werewolves have rare abilities, too. Aside from their strength and healing capabilities, they can communicate using telepathy. It's very handy and useful specially when they're hunting, the alpha will give orders to his subordinates through telepathy.
“Who are you and what are you planning?” He asked with much strength, letting the other party know how much power he possessed.
“Young master, you’ve been summoned by your father.”
Clell was finally relieved the moment it answered him and confirmed its identity, at least, he's now sure they’re safe.
“I will come to him right away, after this. Go on now.”
“You have duties to do for the pack, young master.”
“I didn’t forget about my duties and responsibilities.” Clell said reassuringly, “Leave. Now.”
The werewolf that was tailing them finally left, which Luna felt, too, so she relaxed a bit. She wanted to ask him if he felt it too, but decided not, too.
Not used to running unlike before and with her twisted ankle, Luna felt tired and sleepy. She actually didn’t sleep well last night either because she was too worried about what might happen to her and her best friend today, she kept on waking up every 30 minutes.
Therefore, when she felt like they’re safe again, it was no surprise that she dozed off while Clell was carrying her, she rested and leaned her head on to his chest as well and felt the warmth the she had been craving for from her parents.
Clell chuckled on his breath when he realized that Luna fell asleep. He then observed her face, trying to memorize every features and contour since he’s unsure when he’ll even meet her again.
Hopefully soon, he said to himself.
They finally reached the main track, a few more walks to the main entrance of the trail, but he decided to let her sleep more and just wake her up when they reach the hospital.
At his car, he carefully put her on the shotgun seat and put on her seatbelt before going to the driver seat. He started the engine of his car while giving glances at her peaceful sleeping face. He was mesmerized by her beauty, he wanted to get to know her more.
After a 30minute drive, they arrived at the hospital. Luna was still asleep, so Clell carried her to the ER and asked for assistance. The officials and staff of the hospital knew Clell’s parents—a well known business couple who owned lots of companies, thus he was given the VIP treatment and tended to him and Luna right away.
Luna stirred up in the middle of Clell and the doctor’s conversation.
“What happened?”
“We were hiking and I kind of lost track on her, didn’t notice she fell into a ravine. Is her injury that bad?”
“I’m surprised that it isn’t that bad actually. It, somewhat, healed or I don’t know. Maybe the fall wasn’t that hard. She’ll be alright in a few days; she can stay at a VIP room here until she’s recovered.” The doctor said, quite confused of Luna’s injury.
Luna, finally fully awake, was worried that Clell and the doctor might suspect something about her whole being, so she butted in.
“Uhh. It’s okay, I can rest in my apartment.” She said, trying to cut off or interrupt their conversation.
“You’re awake.” Clell said with a smile.
And before she could even think of a reply, she was blushing again. It’s always involuntary when it comes to him, her control and resolve were always shaken off when he smiles.
“Ye..yeahh. Thank you, by the way, for going that far to help a stranger.” Luna said shyly.
“I suggest you should just stay here instead of going home. They can take care of you and, of course, I can visit you.” He said, trying to flirt subtly.
His subtleness wasn't so subtle after all because Luna caught it right away which made her laugh a bit and played along.
“Looking forward to your visit, mister Clell.” Luna said while also giving him a wink, then they both laughed at their attempts to flirt with each other.
Still playing along, Clell said, “Anyways, here’s my calling card. You can call me anytime if you want to see me.” Which made them chuckle again.
“But really, don’t hesitate to contact me when you need anything. Oh, right, I remember, didn’t your phone ring when we were still at the woods?”
“Oh my, Alicia. Can’t believe I forgot. Geez. Thank you for reminding me.”
Luna’s conscience was trying to engulf her, she couldn’t believe that she forgot about her best friend just because of a hot guy.
I am such a perfect friend, she thought as she was trying to dial Alicia’s number. There were a few rings already and still no answer, it was unlikely of Alicia to not answer right away, then Luna suddenly thought about the silhouette she saw before meeting Clell and started to go frantic again. She dialed Alicia’s number again and again until she finally answered.
Out of breath, Alicia said, “He…hello?”
