CHAPTER 6 : The First Date
The then so quiet, yet busy emergency room was disturbed by Luna. She was so relieved that after a few dials, Alicia finally answered. She couldn’t contain herself and screamed, “ALICIAAAAA!!!”
Everyone scowled at her, but the staff really couldn’t say anything because of Clell. They didn’t want to have a bad impression to him—the biggest shareholder of their hospital.
Luna didn’t notice at first, but she did after Clell apologized to everyone.
“Sorry.” Clell said with a sheepish and shy smile while scratching his head a little.
With her foot being in a cast, she shifted herself in a comfortable position before looking at everyone. She was still not used to being the center of attention despite her job, maybe it was because of what she went through with her family. How you were raised and your past experiences can really scar you for life. Now realizing what she did, she felt uncomfortable and embarrassed.
“Luna, where are you?”
“Luna?”
Alicia, still on the line, asked her as she fell silent for a while. Before answering to Alicia, she asked for an apology to the people in the emergency room first.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to.” She said.
“What do you mean sorry? Earth to Luna. Hello?” Alicia answered, feeling lost and worried.
Still feeling discomfiting with all the scrutinizing glares, she told Alicia where she was at and asked her to fetch her.
“Ah, yes, I’m actually at the hospital. I sort of fell into a ravine, looking for you.”
“WHAT???!! Are you okay?”
“Yes, how about you? Are you okay? Are you hurt? Where are you?”
“I’m actually looking for you, too. I came back to the main entrance with hopes of seeing you here.”
Luna released a sigh after hearing that Alicia was safe, “Good to know.”
With her being in the hospital, Alicia was very worried and wanted to know what happened, “Tell me all the details. What really happened to you? Who brought you to the hospital?”
“I’ll tell you the details here.”
“Okay, I’ll be there in a few minutes. Do you want me to grab food along the way?”
“I just want to go home.”
“Go home? I thought you’re staying here?” Clell butted in, feeling dismayed. He was just hoping that he could still spend more time with her, he didn’t want her to go home. A while ago, he was already making plans in his head—on what to bring when he visits her.
“So, you met a hot guy? Way to go, Miss Luna. Congrats.” Despite still being worried by her friend, Alicia was intrigued after hearing Clell’s voice. Hence, she started teasing Luna.
“Ugghhh. Bye, Alicia.” Luna replied in between soft giggles, her cheeks started to turn pink again.
Right after ending the call, Luna shifted her attention to a frustrated Clell. She, more or less, made him think that she would stay in the hospital for a few days so that he can visit her and that was what she actually thought she would do. However, she just felt so mortified at the moment that she, without putting too much thought to it, decided to go home instead.
“Sorry, I will feel more comfortable resting at home than in here. I’ll definitely call you, though.” She tried comforting Clell, but Clell was still silent. He just wanted to get to know her more, there was this feeling that enticed him to her. Also, he was still unsure if she would really call.
To lighten up the mood, Luna decided to portray a damsel in distress. She didn’t know where she got her confidence, all she was thinking about was not to disappoint the man in front of her.
“Oh, Clell. My knight. My savior. How could I ever survive a day without you by my side?” She said with playfulness in her voice while putting her hand on her head as if she was about to collapse.
Finally, Clell spoke to her while also laughing at her great acting. “Promise you would call?”
“I promise.” Luna reassured.
“Okay, good enough for me.” He replied.
Clell planned to stay longer, but he remembered the werewolf that was following them in the woods, while he was carrying Luna. He was summoned by his father and still needed to do his duties and responsibilities in the pack. However, she couldn’t just leave Luna without telling her where he’ll go, at least that’s what he felt like the right thing to do, but couldn’t tell the truth either. So, he acted as if someone had messaged him and needed him right away.
“Sorry, would love to meet your friend in person, but I need to go. I have a business meeting to attend to.”
“No worries. Talk you to you soon and thank you again for helping me.”
They both smiled at each other as Clell bid farewell.
Three days had passed and Luna had finally fully recovered, but she still hadn’t gone to work. She decided to rest another day, before letting herself be engulfed with legal cases once more. She was alone in their apartment, sitting on her bed and hugging her favorite pillow, contemplating if she would call Clell or not.
“Well, without much to do alone, it’s alright to go out and have fun.” She reasoned out to herself as she was getting Clell’s calling card from her wallet and started typing his number.
As she was waiting nervously for him to pick up, she was also pacing back and forth in her room.
“Hello, may I know who this is?” a familiar voice finally answered.
Just hearing his deep and manly voice made her felt giddy.
“Oh, my knight and shining armor.” She managed to reply. Clell just laughed in response, he couldn’t stop thinking about her during those days that she didn’t contact him. Although he was still confused why he felt so much connection to her. She's a puzzle to him that he's willing to spend most of his hours solving.
After a long talk on the phone, they planned to have dinner together and decided to call it a date.
“Would you like me to pick you up?” Clell asked.
“No, it’s okay, I’ll see you in the restaurant.”
Before their agreed time, Clell went to a flower shop to buy Luna a bouquet. Normally, he would ask his assistant to do this, but not with Luna. To him she’s special. He chose a variety of flowers. Daisies that symbolized new beginnings and innocence—their blossoming friendship. White carnation that symbolized his pure admiration to Luna. Lastly, lilies which represented Luna’s beauty.
After paying for the bouquet, he hurriedly went to their agreed restaurant as he didn’t want Luna to arrive first. He didn’t want her to wait.
With his bouquet at hand, he made himself comfortable in his seat as he waited for Luna to arrive. Not long enough, Luna entered the restaurant with a body-hugging black dress—not too short and sexy just enough to show her toned and fair legs, with a straight cut chest-line to cover her cleavage, but brought emphasis to her sexy prominent collarbones. Seeing her, Clell was mesmerized. He couldn’t move for a second or two, but he managed to hoist himself up, gave Luna the bouquet and helped her to her seat.
Before their food arrived, both engaged into a light conversation, they started off with common topics like asking each other’s favorite shows, music and bands. However, when they started eating, the conversation got deeper and deeper which, somewhat, made both of them uncomfortable.
They wanted to get to know each other, but Luna couldn’t bring herself into telling him about her past while Clell couldn’t tell her about him being a werewolf.
“You’re staying with your best friend. Uhm, where’s your family?” Clell asked.
“Uhm, why don’t you tell me about yours first?”
