Till death do us part

Rain was streaming down on the deserted road where two cars had crashed into each other, nothing was visible because of the gloomy darkness of the night but the sky did occasionally gave out a frightening luster which lightened up the road, and the valley roared like a monster because of the thunder that followed.

The road was flooded with rainwater which had already been tinted red with blood. The distinct smell of rust was in the air.

Near the crashed Mercedes, a girl as beautiful as an angel lied motionless on the road. Her slender fingers which had a silver ring were curling around a bouquet of white flowers.

She wore a beautiful wedding dress, which was now painted red.

There was another person inside the car. He was a man wearing a black suit with an exactly same white flower dangling down his chest pocket, and just a few inches away from the flower a huge glass piece had penetrated his torso. He was wearing a wedding ring similar to the one that the girl had on her ring finger.

The other car had its windshield crushed, exposing the bleeding back of a young lady breathing heavily. She was shielding a small kid with her body, whose round tears eyes were the witness to the horror of the dreadful night.

The heartless sky continued to pour rain over the heart wrenching scene.

Three Years Later:

The birds chirped under the warm light of the sun; The air had a soothing smell of daffodils in it; it was oddly relaxing,

The untended grass slowly danced with the light wind.

From a distance one could hear the playful chuckles of a child,

His tiny hand clenched onto the flowers he had plucked, and his body danced around in the flower patch. His dance came to an abrupt ending when he saw a white figure standing in a distance, His chuckles ceased and his face formed into a more cheerful smile.

He glanced down at the flower bouquet in his hand and then looked at the figure,

His tiny feet moved slowly and his pace fastened with every step, and finally, he was running towards the woman not very far away from him.

“Mommy! Mommy!” His sweet voice echoed through the empty fields.

Bump-

The kid threw his body and hugged the woman’s legs and looked up at her with his smiling face.

“Mommy I have a gift for you,”

His cute lips uttered the words of love, but the facial expression of the woman was complicated, She looked at him with a peculiar gaze.

“Wait a minute!”

The kid pushed her away and took a few steps away from the woman,

“You are not Mommy. Who are you? And why is your face so ugly?”

The kid had a sudden change in attitude towards the woman who he called his mother just a few seconds ago.

“Pfft, you are an odd kid,”

The beautiful lady whose face was easy to capture the gaze of anyone, spoke to him tenderly as she kneeled before the kid and rustled his hair.

“No, don’t touch me, you are not my mommy,”

He shook his head sideways to avoid her touch.

“Simba! Where did you run off to?”

Another voice spoke from the back of the lady who was kneeling,

Just as the kid’s eyes fell on the exactly similar looking girl behind the kneeling lady, his eyes flashed and his smile came back.

“Mommy! Here I have flowers for you,”

He rushed over to his mother’s arms and shrank into her embrace.

The girl who was kneeling looked like she was in shock, She slowly got up and turned around to see the person behind her.

“You?—you are,”

“Come on Simba, let’s go. It’s getting late we have to get back,” The girl completely ignored her and walked away without batting another eye.

“Eryna Stop! Please I beg you,”

Her voice was grieving when she called out the girl who was walking away,

Eryna stopped and looked at the child.

Simba was looking at the lady behind them. Eryna sat on her knees, she stoked the kid’s hair and spoke to him.

“Simba, can you get me some white flowers? I want to put them in my room when we get home.”

She had a soft and delicate voice,

The kid nodded energetically and sprinted off towards the flower path not very far away. When she saw him run away, her soft expression became stiff and she looked at the woman standing behind her.

“Say it!”

Eryna looked at her twin sister with an emotionless face,

“I thought you had—”

“You thought I had died?”

Eryna completed the sentence for her, with a cruel voice.

“I—I am sorry,”

Reyna’s voice broke as she spoke.

“What are you sorry for? Which part of my life are you sorry for? Be specific,” Eryna said bluntly.

Her words fell on Renya’s ears like thunder and she lifted her gaze in shock, She didn’t say anything.

“Your sister; Eryna died the day you abandoned her and held hands with that mistress and kicked me out of the mansion. I died that day—“

Eryna choked on her words as the sadness was too much for her to take in.

“Stop acting as if you are sad— Stop acting like you have mourned for me—stop acting as if you want to hug me and tell me all about your worries. If you cared about me even the slightest you would have been by my side three years ago when I lost everything.”

Eryna spat those words at her face and clenched her fist at the sight of her sister crying.

In the middle of their argument, Simba came running back to Eryna and gave her a white flower and then ran towards Renya and gave her a flower too.

Seeing the little kid act that way Renya spoke slowly,

“He—he is just like Simba. Your Simba,”

Her eyes stared at the kid with love and she stroked his cheek.

Tears rolled out of Eryna’s eyes when she heard Reyna say those words.

The kid didn’t understand their conversation so he ran off to the fields once more,

“I was happy when I heard that you were getting married, I wanted to come but dad has locked me up, I was still happy to know that you had finally found your happiness but not long after that I heard the news of you disappearing. They found Simba’s dead body but they’d didn’t say anything about you. That day— I regretted my decision more than ever.”

Reyna voiced her emotions and stared at Eryna with a yearning look.

Eryna’s big black eyes kept on staring at her sister, her pink lips twitched a bit but didn’t speak a word. The wind blew through her curly black hair and from afar her figure looked like a lonely soul waiting to be blown away with the gust.

“I am sorry for everything, everything that I have done to you. I am sorry for all those times when you wanted me with you and I was not there, I am sorry that you went through so much pain alone— I am sorry.” She chocked at her words because she was sad and happy at the same time. She had found her sister which everyone considered to be dead.

Reyna took a few steps forward and hugged Eryna,

The warmth of Reyna’s hug enveloped Eryna and reflexively her tears which she had held in for all those years made their way out of her eyes.
