The Ceremony - Part 1

~Alexiana's POV~

The last couple of days went by real fast; the preparations for the ceremony had been a little crazy because we only had a very short amount of time to get everything ready.

Everything was all set up and the decorations looked very beautiful.

Today, nobody has to neither go to school nor go to work, except for Alpha Greyson; he probably has to get as much paperwork done as possible before the ceremony.

Right now, Avery and I are in my bedroom getting ready for the ceremony; Brianna got ready at her house before she came to mine.

Brianna looks absolutely stunning when she walked through my bedroom threshold.

Anyways, when Brianna entered my bedroom, Avery had just finished taking a shower and walking out of the bathroom. Then, I made my way to my bathroom to take a quick shower, while Bri does Avery's hair and make-up.

I finished showering, twenty minutes later, I stepped out of the shower, towel-dried both my hair and body with my green towel.

I proceeded to put on my undergarments, my robe and walked out of the bathroom to see that Brianna did a wonderful job with Avery's hair; Avery's hair was curled and pinned up, while her makeup looked flawless.

I took a few steps towards my chair in front of my vanity, sat down and let Brianna do my hair and make-up.

Brianna braided half of the right side of my hair, bringing it all the way to the back with the rest of my hair to make it into a messy bun and pulling out some strands of hair to let it flow on the side of my face.

When Bri finished with my hair, she started to do my makeup.

My makeup was simple; smoky grey eye shadow with eyeliner, mascara, light pink blush and a deep red matte lip-gloss. Brianna said she was done with my makeup and that I could turn around.

I looked at myself in the mirror with astonishment; Brianna out did herself again. I got up from my chair and gave Bri a hug, while telling her thank you.

I pulled away from our hug, thanked Brianna again and went to my closet to get my dress.

After I put on my dress and heels, I looked towards my nightstand to check the time; it is four-forty in the afternoon with only twenty minutes to spare.

Brianna, Avery and I left my bedroom and walked down the stairs meeting my mom and Carson by the front door.

My mom started crying when she saw us and complimented us on how gorgeous we girls look; we thanked my mom at the same time and said she looked beautiful.

I, however, told my mom that we do not have much time left and we should start going to the pack house for the ceremony; my mom said okay while we all were leaving the house.

We took two vehicles to go to the pack house, Carson and Avery went together in his car while my mom, Brianna and I went together in Brianna's car.

After we arrived and exited the vehicles, we entered the pack house walking through the kitchen towards the back door.

When we stepped outside to the backyard, mom, Carson and Avery went to find my dad whilst Brianna and I go mingle with the rest of our pack members.

To be honest, half of these pack members I do not recognize; are they even from this pack? I asked myself, which I do not know the answer to.

'Or maybe, they were too busy for you to notice that they are part of this pack!' Retorted Midnight.

I rolled my eyes and ignored her because I know she is right.

Midnight is always seventy-five percent right and she sometimes likes to rub it. Therefore, I quickly block her out before she starts chanting that she is right.

One hour later, everything is going smoothly, everybody mingling and getting to know each other; a few of the pack members have found their mates.

Five more minutes later, I see Alpha Greg Greyson walking up the three steps onto the makeshift stage with his wife and our Luna standing on his right hand side of him whilst their son, soon-to-be Alpha, Kyle Greyson, standing on the left hand side of his father.

When Alpha Greyson approached the microphone, everyone sensed the Alpha and placed our attention to him.

"Before we continue with the ceremony, I would like to say thank you to everyone for helping with the preparations and the decorations; it looks wonderful and you guys did a marvelous job." While the Alpha was speaking, I could see my brother, Carson with his mate, Avery standing next to the steps of the stage waiting for Alpha Greyson to call their names to go up on stage. However, I see my dad go up on stage; I guess my dad will be calling Carson and Avery on stage.

Alpha Greyson passed the stage to my dad, after he finished his thank you speech.

My dad and Alpha Greyson grabbed each other's forearm – which is their way of a handshake in a friendly matter.

You see, my dad and Alpha Greyson know each other and are the best of friends since middle school.

Anyways, once my dad stood in front of the microphone, he began his speech, "Good evening everyone and thank you all for coming! A couple days ago, was my son's eighteenth birthday. On that same day, he found his mate. Furthermore, as of today, I am stepping down from my Beta position and passing it over to my son." Everyone clapped and cheered for the exciting news.

WHAT! WHE-, BU-, HOW? I cannot formulate any words to express my feelings.

My eyes are still big as saucers and my mouth open, slightly.

WAIT JUST A FLYING DONKEY'S ASS MINUTE! WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME ANYTHING? I thought to myself.

Honestly, I was shocked, to say the least; I could not pay attention to what Carson and Avery was saying.

I decide to walk away from the crowd and walk to an open clearing near the woods, but not too far away from the ceremony; I saw a log on the ground next to a tree and sat down.

My thoughts were consuming my focus to the point where I was not paying attention to my surroundings and did not notice there is somebody sitting next to me; I looked to my left and saw My dad is sitting next to me, smiling at me, but his smile does not reach his eyes; his eyes look dull, tired and worried.

Now, I am curious.

"Hey, Dad what's wrong? Why are you not at the ceremony?"

"There is nothing wrong; however, I could ask you the same thing." Stated my dad.

"I just came here to get away from everyone to breath because it was getting a little too crowded." I lied and gave my dad a fake smile. However, my dad knew I was lying and he just went straight to the point.

"Lexi, you don't have to lie to me because I saw your facial expression after I made my speech. I know you are probably upset and confused-" I cut him off not wanting to hear any half-ass truths.

"Probably, really dad? Do you know how it feels to be left in the freaking dark without anybody telling you a damn thing? I am not a child anymore dad, I could handle the truth." I paused for a few seconds before saying one last thing, "dad, I want to know what the hell is going on and the truth this time." I lowly yelled not wanting to cause a scene with tears rolling down my cheeks.

Being hurt is an understatement, I am angry and my dad knows that I am angry with him.

I am brought out from my reverie from my dad's voice."I am so sorry Alexiana, I did not know that is how you felt and I am sorry for not telling you anything; I did not want you to worry or suspect anything at all." My dad paused, taking in a shaky breath with tears streaming down his cheeks.

It took my dad a moment or two to calm down a little, letting a single tear roll down his cheeks before speaking again.

"Alexiana, you are my only daughter and I never want to see you sad or upset; I just want to see you be happy with a smile on your beautiful face and know that everything is okay. You are the best daughter a father could ever ask for; I love you my beautiful Sunflower." I hugged my dad and cried a little into his chest while he hugged me back.

"I love you too dad." We hugged for a bit longer and sat on the log in a comfortable silence.

About two minutes later, my dad broke the silence, asking me if I wanted to know the truth of what is going on and I nodded my head yes.

My dad then told me, "come with me away from prying ears; I do not want anybody hearing our conversation." I gave my dad a confused look because even though we could see everyone at the ceremony from where we are, they will not be able to hear us. However, I did what he said and followed him.
