5. Someone really hate you and your family.

EROS

"W- where am I?" The barely audible whisper left her lips before she tried to open her eyes. Even though she was awake, the Princess found it rather challenging to make her eyelids move enough to notice anything. The sounds around her reminded the kitchen staff, eagerly cooking for the guests, moving metal pots and pans.

She took a deep breath, hissing out loud as an intense sharp pain broke through her chest area. Both of her hands instinctively neared the throbbing area- another thoughtless action that brought nothing but pain. Bea felt as if someone brutally restrained her, nailing her hands to chains or ropes. Whatever was it, the young woman couldn't take the piercing pain anymore; even the teeth gritting didn't help anymore. An ear-piercing scream of agony left her lips, finally bringing some attention to the young woman.

"Princess Bea, you're finally awake," a woman gasped. Her surprised statement followed by a metal plate colliding with the floor and the sound of someone opening the door to slam it closed seconds after.

Was the woman there to look after her? If that was the case- why would she leave without checking on the young woman? Bea made it clear that she was in pain, yet she didn't gain any other reaction than a surprised gasp.

At this point, she felt as if time froze- it was as irrelevant as never. Bea could try to count seconds or minutes, but she couldn't focus on anything but the pain, coming and leaving in intense waves. The door opened again; as much as she wanted to take a look at whoever arrived, she still didn't find the strength to open her eyes. However, the scent invading her nostrils was one the young Princess knew better than anything- her mother was there.

"My poor baby," Eve cried out, convinced that her daughter had fallen asleep once again. The nurse failed to mention the screams of pain- her main goal was to inform the Queen and get her to the hospital wing.

"Mother," Bea cried out, struggling to breathe. Whatever was happening- it felt as if she was going through Hell. Her chest burned in pain; the closer her mother seemed to get, the more intense the pain became. As soon as Eve took her hand in hers, the Princess screamed again.

"What's wrong with her?" Eve let go of Bea, nearly jumping a couple of steps back. The Queen noticed how her daughter's chest rose and fell somewhat calmed as she increased the distance between them. Whatever happened in that forest couldn't be a reason why Eve couldn't approach her daughter. Things as such don't happen out of the blue, especially to mothers and their children.

"I- I don't know, my Queen. The tests came back perfect; medically, it appears that the Princess is in great shape; there shouldn't be a reason for pain." The nurse stuttered, grabbing Bea's medical record and hurriedly going through the countless blood tests they had taken earlier.

"Get my husband here!" Eve gasped, placing a hand over her heart and slowly backing up, hitting her back against the wall. As the Queen kept watching her daughter, the nurse didn't move a muscle. Eve quickly turned around and screamed at the wall: "Now!"

Finally, the nurse ran out of the room. Eros wouldn't allow anyone inside the library, nor would he let anyone mind-link him. Now, the King would have to leave his hideout since Bea's awake.

"You better get your ass here and have the damn answers; I swear to the Moon Goddess, I'm about to kill your reckless ass, Eros Frost." Eve cursed her mate, friends, and the whole world as she listened to the calm breathing of her daughter. After what seemed like hours, the hospital room door opened with a loud bang. Eros stood in the door frame, but he didn't arrive alone. A stranger stood behind him, watching the Queen with curiosity.

"She's awake? Love, why are you facing the wall?" The King questioned Eve, stepping inside the room. Bea didn't have the same reaction to her father as she had to Eve. The Queen kept listening to her daughter's breathing, silently hoping that the terrifying thing wouldn't happen again.

"She’s awake, but weak. Because I can't get close to her," Eve cried out, barely holding in tears. Could anyone even imagine how much it hurts for a mother to stay away from her child?

"What do you mean? Why couldn't you get close to our daughter? Have you lost it, Eve? Bea needs us now," Eros felt the anger bubbling inside him. His wife kept terrorizing everyone out of fear for her child, yet now, the woman wouldn't even try to approach the girl.

"You don't understand, damn it. I tried to approach Bea, but she started screaming in pain as if my presence was killing her. Something is wrong." Eve turned around to face Eros, hot tears streaming down her cheeks, leaving bright marks wherever the salty liquid fell.

"Nonsense-" Eros was about to call his wife crazy, but the Vampire spoke up, interrupting him mid-sentence.

"The Queen isn't lying. On any other occasion, I would ask the Queen to repeat what happened, but I'm afraid that another attempt might kill the young lady. May I ask you to leave for a bit?" Velkan nodded his head, hoping that the Queen would understand that he had no foul intentions.

"You'll try to help her?" The Queen questioned the Vampire, moving her weight from leg to leg, unsure if she could trust the undead.

"I won't try to help her, Queen Evangeline. I will help her," Velkan spoke with so much confidence; there was no way a person couldn't believe in his words.

The Queen eyed both men, thinking that there had to be a reason for her mate to appear alongside Vampire. She took a deep breath and whispered: "Alright, make sure she's okay. Eros, look after him; I can't take any risks."

As soon as Eve left the hospital room, Eros turned his attention towards the Vampire and questioned him: "What's wrong with her? Have you seen anything like this before?"

"Yes, I have. It's an ancient but effective method to kill wolf shifters," Velkan replied without any hesitation. "You could trace this practice back to the early fourteen hundreds, extraordinary that there's anyone around, still aware of this." The Vampire couldn't believe he would face someone using the practice after so many centuries.

"Could you at least explain what is happening and what could we do to help her? I don't want to see my children on their deathbed before it's my time to go, damn it." Eros growled out, irritated by the Vampire's mysterious approach of explaining everything. It was always the same problem with the undead- they spoke in riddles.

"My apologies, King Azra; I'm fascinated to see anything like this after hundreds of years." The Vampire slowly approached Bea, carefully scanning her body. His eyes focused on the young woman's hand as if he had noticed something unusual, something that shouldn't be there. The male hummed under his breath, raising an eyebrow. "You see when humans first discovered our existence, and by our- I mean all supernaturals: vampires, werewolves, Lycans, and many more, they were terrified. After the panic came many theories and even more attempts to find our weak spots; first, they found out that Vampires couldn't walk under the sunlight. Then, as soon as they found the first thread to destroy the rumors about immortality- a group of human hunters captured one of us. It took them years to break that man; he spent hours under clear sky during the days until he finally spoke. We knew each other's weak spots, and the humans found out even more as the years of torture went on. That's when they first found out about werewolves and silver. Technically it didn't leave the same effect on Lycanthropes unless they were a hybrid between a human and a beast, like your daughter. The Princess was born while Queen Eve was a human, am I correct?" Velkan glanced over his shoulder, unknowingly rushing the King's answer.

"Yes, you are."

"There was someone here- a person that might seem like one of yours, but their mind was led by someone behind the walls." All of a sudden, the Vampire dropped the previous topic and stated the impossible. No other leader had half as good security as Eros had- they noticed every detail, even servants getting a mere cold, let alone someone using mind control over the King's staff.

"You're losing me here; God damn it! You're supposed to help my daughter! What's wrong with her, and why couldn't my mate approach her?" Eros hissed in anger, ready to destroy everything in his way to find out what was wrong with Bea.

"To hide the trace, they dipped the piece of pure silver in catnip. Sounds funny, doesn't it? Well, no wolf around here could feel the tiny piece of pure metal because of the primitive method. Someone was in here and injected that silver grain into your daughter's hand. I will remove it, and she will get better within a few hours." Velkan sat next to Bea, taking her hand in his to find the precise spot where the incision was made. To remove the silver without leaving greater damage- he had to squeeze the metal out the same as it got there. The procedure would hurt, yes, but it was better than letting it further into her system. As soon as the metal got into one's bloodstream, it couldn't be located anymore, and the shifter died in torturous pain. Slowly.

"Why couldn't my mate get close if the main issue is silver?" Eros repeated himself, still confused about the issue. That piece of silver hurt his daughter, but that couldn't be the thing that kept her mother away. Or could it?

"Because someone really hate you and your family."
