Chapter 2

I was going home early after lunch, as I had to buy some groceries and cleaning supplies. I was on the way to the shop and saw granny.

"Granny, I called out to her. She turned around to see who was calling. Her gaze falling on me."

"Aria is that you dear? She asked me."

"Yeah, it's me, grandma. I told her."

"Doing grocery shopping? She enquired."

"Yes, would you like to join me? I asked her."

"Sure, dear, she answered with a smile."

We tagged along to the store and parted ways to buy the necessary thing. When done we met at the counter to pay for it. We finished paying and got out of the store.

"Granny, why don't you come home with me for a while? I suggested."

"Sure, let's get going I have some time before going to Castle. How are your parents doing? It has been a while since I have seen them. She enquires."

"They are well grandma, just busy at the field. I missed you a lot. It's been a month since I last saw you. I told her."

"I have been busy at the castle for a while now. She added."

I just nodded, knowing how much she had to put up with, as a head maid at the castle.

We headed home in silence, as we couldn't talk about much outside the house. Once we reached, I unlocked the door and let her inside the house asking her to take a seat. While I headed to the kitchen to prepare some tea.

I went back to the living room with my granny's favorite lemongrass tea and, a plate of cookies to eat along with it. Setting aside the tray on the table, I offered her a cup of tea, taking another one for myself. Granny took a sip of tea and her face lit up.

"You remembered my favorite tea, she exclaimed with a surprise."

"Yes, I do remember your favorites. After all, you are my grandmother, I and Blair love you a lot. I told her."

When we were done with tea and snacks, I wanted to ask granny about the things at the castle.

"How are things going at the palace? I enquired."

"Things are going on fine there. We are always trying to keep the imprisoned kids in a good health, guards are helping us. All the people have had enough, as the King treats everyone badly. He has done more than enough damage to our kingdom. We are still trying to figure out where the 'King and Queen' disappeared. She explained."

It made me grew red with anger, while my hands balled into fists too tightly that my knuckles were turning white. I didn't know that I was so angry. I only noticed it when grandma held my clenched fists.

"Calm down Aria, she urged."

I instantly tried to calm down taking deep breaths.

I was calm now and decided to apologize for my demeanor.

"I am so sorry that you had to see me angry like that, I should have handled my emotions better. I don't know why but, even listening to the King's name bothers me. I explained to her."

"It's perfectly fine dear. I should get going now, I have some duties to do. She concluded."

"Thanks for coming granny, I spoke up as she got and gathered her things to go back."

"Bye, have a nice day. I greeted her."

"You too dear, until next time. Granny added."

I waved goodbye to her until she was out of my sight. I got inside and decided to chop the vegetables to take my mind off our conversation.

I didn't even notice when my parents arrived. I was busy making food. I tried to forget about the things cheering up myself. I was almost done when my parents came to eat.

"Hey mom, when did you and dad arrive home? I asked her."

"You were happily cooking for us when we came, so we didn't interrupt you. Did you meet granny today you look so happy? She enquired."

"Yes, mom, I did. We met near the grocery store. I even asked her to join me for tea and we had a wonderful afternoon. I answered."

"That's good to hear. Let's dig in shall we, I am starving. Mom insisted."

"Yeah, go ahead mom."

We had our dinner having a chat with each other about our day.

I laid still in my bed wide awake. I was waiting for our townspeople to go to sleep. I wanted to sneak out for my daily practice as soon as possible.

It was 11.30 pm now and there was a blackout and silence all around. Thinking it was time, I quickly got ready and jumped out of my window. I went to our spot where we would practice regularly. But, Blair wasn't there. It was so unusual for her to be late, as she was always here before time. I decided to wait for her and sat down on the grass, looking at the beautiful view of the starry sky accompanied by a cool night breeze. It felt refreshing to just sit and stare at the sky, I was at peace.

Quite a while passed but, I still didn't see her. I was worried if something has happened to her. I kept an eye on my surroundings and something out of ordinary caught my eye. I saw a movement near the vampire border. The figures were closing the distance at a high speed. In the blink of an eye, they were at the perimeter.

My heart thumped with anxiousness, when I saw two vampires gazing in my direction. I was too nervous to look at them and looked around once again for any signs of Blair. She was nowhere to be seen.
