Chapter 3
"What is a human doing at the werewolf borders?" One of the vampires inquired.
I looked at the one who questioned me and found him staring at me from head to toe.
"It's none of your business, what I am doing here. This is our kingdom's border I can be within our borders whenever I want to."
"An aggressive one I see. What is your name?" He smirked.
"You haven't told me yours. So, I don't think I should tell you mine."
"Fine, my name is Mason and this is my best friend Ethan. Now that I have given you our names, you should do the same."
"I am Aria, and no I am not here alone. I have been waiting for my best friend Blair here."
As the sentence left my mouth I saw Blair running towards me. She was out of breath when she reached me.
"Are you alright Blair? You look like you ran here in rush. Take a seat."
Blair took a seat on the grass beside me, taking a deep breath to calm herself down. When she was calm enough. I decided to ask her why she was in a hurry.
"Blair, what happened? You are never late for our daily training." I asked her worried.
"Yeah, I know I accidentally got locked in the stock room of the castle, while I was fetching some cleaning supplies. Granny knew about it and soon came to aid me. I was gone for almost 30 minutes."
"Oh My God! Who in the world dared to lock you there?"
I got up getting furious and noticed, there was something inside of me trying to find its way out. I saw a change in my best friend's expression, as she saw me angry like, she was worried about certain something that was inside of me.
"Calm down, Aria." She commanded me.
The feeling went away instantly. I didn't know what was happening, I felt dizzy and sat down again with Blair's help. She held my hand and rubbed my back reassuringly. A while later I felt better and looked around as if I had forgotten. Only then I noticed that Mason and his friend Ethan were eyeing us with worry.
"Are you both fine?" Mason asked us cautiously in case my anger rose again.
"We are fine. Sorry, you had to see all that."
"It's fine. We can understand your situation, anyone would have been angry if that happened to their friend."
"Who are they?" Blair asked me.
"That's Mason and the other one is his friend Ethan. They are our neighbors as you can see and also vampires. They were just asking me what I was doing here at this hour."
"Oh! is that so. I am her friend Blair. I can ask you two the same question."
"We both were just taking a stroll, Ethan said speaking up."
When Blair heard his voice she was surprised. She looked at him with shock written all over her face. His face looked similar to hers.
What was wrong with those two? I watched her as her expression changed from shocked to happy in a second.
"You both are mates, aren't you?"
"What they are? So this is all it was about."
"I never thought my mate would be a vampire. It happens very rarely."
"Neither thought this would happen, said Ethan."
"I need to tell my Grandma about this, we will talk about it tomorrow night. Can you meet me at the border tomorrow at 11:45 pm?
"Sure, I guess. Ethan told her."
"Thanks for agreeing. Blair said with a smile."
"I am sorry Ari, we can train tomorrow after we are done talking. You can come at your usual time."
"Fine with me. Anyways congratulations on meeting your mate after a whole year. I am so happy for you."
"Thank you so much, Ari. She concluded pulling me in a tight embrace."
When she released me from the embrace we waved goodbyes to each other and parted ways.
We were nearing the field and I wanted to know how was her experience finding her mate.
"Blair, What does it feels like when you found your mate?"
"When I heard his voice and saw him, I breathed in the scent of Earth and fresh roses in the air. My wolf was pouncing happily inside of me. I was overjoyed and wanted that moment to last. It was so incredible and I felt that I belonged with him."
"Wow! that sounds incredible. It makes me want to meet my mate. But, I haven't even turned 18 yet."
"You will meet him soon don't worry about it." She reassured me.
"Yeah, I will wait."
"We are almost around the corner of my street you should get going, I told her ."
"Bye, I will see you tomorrow."
"Bye."
My heart warmed looking at my friend's cheerful face. She looked happier at the moment.
I watched her disappear in the shadows of the night, before going back to my house.
After showering I laid down in bed thinking about the events that led my friend to find her mate. How I was too nervous to look at them. But, when I heard Mason's voice everything seemed to disappear. It was like somehow his voice was having a calming effect on me. It was as if I have always known him.
Blair knew something about the change that was happening within me. I was the only one who had no clue. I could guess that granny knew about it too. Even Mason and Ethan sensed something and wanted to ask Blair about it. But, she didn't want to speak about it in my presence. I trusted that my friend and granny would tell me about it when the time is right.
