Chapter 4
I was heading off to the border a little later than I usually do. As not to meddle in the conversation between Ethan, Blair, and her grandmother. It was obvious that they were hiding things from me. It might have been for myself so I decided to ignore the fact by not asking about any of it. Mason was also involved in their little discussion.
When I reached there they all were smiling. I thought that all the doubts would have been cleared by them. I was right. I walked at a faster pace to reach where they were standing to the near edge of our borders.
Blair noticed me and waved her hand for me to come to them.
"Hey, guys how was your conversation today? Have you sorted things out?" l enquired.
"Yes, we did, Blair told me."
"That's good to know."
"Hey, Aria."
Mason called my name smiling at me. My heart fluttered just looking at him smiling like that. When he looked at me it felt different. Like we have always been with each other but in reality, I just met him yesterday.
"Hey, Mason, you guys look so cheerful today," I told them.
"Granny, it's good to see you on our training ground again." I pointed out.
"Yeah, it's been quite a while that I haven't been here. It feels good to be back though." She added.
"Good to know that," I concluded.
"But, how are you both going to meet each other? I am sure we can't make a bridge here. I demanded pointing out to Blair and Ethan."
"You don't have to worry about that. I and Mason can just fly to your side." Ethan interjected.
"That solves the problem then."
"How about starting training for now. We missed it yesterday because of everything going on. Why don't you both train with us today since you are here?" Blair suggested.
"That's a good idea. How about a sword fight girls vs boys?" Granny suggested.
"We are good with it granny. How about you Ethan and Mason?" Blair questioned.
"It would be a pleasure to duel with you and Aria."
Ethan chirped looking all excited at Mason who's response was the same.
"I and Blair will go get swords." I insisted.
We were back with the swords and got in two groups. Ethan was against Blair and I was against Mason. Granny would be the one to judge it.
I took a fighting stance, I and Mason were circling waiting to find an opportunity to attack. He attacked first swinging his blade in my direction. I easily dodged the attack with my sword. We were fighting like we were on sparring ground with our fellow partners. None of us back off. Even when I was just a human and my opponent a vampire, I was fighting with him like an equal.
The fight came to an end too soon for my liking. Grandma declared that it was a tie. I withdrew my sword putting it in its place and shook hands with Mason. As his hand touched mine, it felt as if sparks were flowing through my entire body. Even his touch felt familiar. Blair, Ethan, and granny noticed that too. I was being too obvious.
He was well aware of what was happening and gave me a slight smile. He looked so good as the wind ruffled through his jet black hair making them fall in front of his eyes. I had a sudden urge to move those bangs out of the way so I could gaze into his eyes. I immediately shook myself out of it, or I would have done that very moment drowning in the depths of his blue eyes.
He let out a giggle at my confusing behavior knowingly, while I glared at him accusingly. It led all of them to laugh out loud. They were all laughing as if they knew what I was thinking.
I hid my thoughts going back to a neutral facade running inside to keep our weapons. I wondered why was I feeling a certain something when I was with him. Did I fell for him at first sight?
"I will get going now. You can have some time with each other granny said as she started walking towards the village."
We all waved our goodbyes to her as she left us alone. Then turned back to each other. I needed some answers as to why I felt that way with him. Blair and Ethan were engaged in conversation leaving us to talk. I felt embarrassed by the thoughts I had just a while ago to ask him anything. He must have noticed my worry as he held my hand.
"You don't have to worry about asking me anything Aria. I can read your thoughts. I know that you want to find out why were you having feelings about me. I felt it too, the same attraction that you were experiencing."
My eyes widened in surprise as he told me he was having mutual feelings.
"Are you my mate?" l asked him.
"I feel like I am your mate Aria. I know that as I am already 19 now. You can sense it too don't you? But you can't feel the same pull as you are yet to be 18, he explained."
Oh, God! He is my mate, I was jumping inwardly on finding my mate even before I had turned 18. It has to be the best day of my life. Mason could read my mind perfectly, he was delighted by my reaction. Pulling me closer by my hand he held me in a tight embrace. His lips gracing my forehead ever so softly. I gave him a peck on his cheek.
We released our embrace after a few minutes looking deep into the eyes of each other. We could feel the love that was blooming in our hearts. But like every good thing it had to come to an end.
"Let's get going now Mason, we will see each other tomorrow."
Ethan and Mason gave us a parting kiss on the cheek before they flew across to their side and disappeared. I and Blair were so dazed by the kiss, it took us a minute to calm our pounding hearts.
"I am glad that you found your mate, Ari, Blair told me with a big smile."
"I could say the same to you too. I told her as a big smile made its way on my face."
