Chapter 4 - Now Is Not The Right Time
“Dad... I’m sure he will treat me well. Don’t worry!”
Lina Maria knew that even though Gabriel had arranged this marriage for her, he also cared about her happiness and did not want her to feel wronged in any way.
Gabriel knew about the story of her first love in high school. But for some reasons, Lina Maria did not want to share with Gabriel tonight that the boy she loves, is actually Lucas Lopez.
She felt that somehow, it was not the right time to share this piece of news. Especially when she saw how Lucas Lopez was indifferent to her earlier at the charity auction event.
After a few moments of silence, Lina Maria said, “Dad... there is something that I will share with you, but... now is not the right time to do so...”
“Mmm it’s okay, Dad understands. Share with me when the time is right.” Gabriel gave Lina Maria an assuring smile.
Lina Maria was naturally touched by what Gabriel said, and felt as though a burden has been lifted off her shoulders.
Gabriel has always been understanding towards Lina Maria and respected her. He has never forced her to say or do anything that are against her wishes.
Gabriel knew that even though Lina Maria is still considered young in his heart, she has always been very clear of what she wanted and is able to make her own decisions independently.
As a father, he has always felt that he is lacking in so many ways and have not done enough for Lina Maria.
Even though he has tried his best to provide all that he could for her, it would never be able to fully replace the loss of Lina Maria’s mother and grandparents whom she was close with.
“Wen Xin, Granny Wang has invited us out for dinner next week. Will you be free? She wants to discuss details about your marriage with Shen Ze.”
“Alright, I will make time for it. Just let me know the time and location.” Lina Maria replied.
“Okay, that’s good! Then have a good rest tonight. You still have work the next morning.”
“Yes dad, you too. Have a good rest!”

The Next Morning, At Lin Corporation
Lina Maria walked quickly into the office’s lobby. She has just started her designer job few weeks ago and is still considered to be a new employee.
She was already late the previous time and she definitely can’t be late again today!
Even though this company is owned by her father, Gabriel, she had pleaded him to not disclose her as his daughter.
This means that Lina Maria could not take her father’s car to the company and have to squeeze in with other commuters on the bus and train.
She wanted her father to treat her just like any other employee in the company.
She wanted to climb up the ranks in the company and build her career with her own effort.
As such, she had went through the formal interview process in the company and proceeded to be selected as the lowest ranking fashion designer in the company.
Lina Maria had always been the best fashion design student in university, and have submitted many outstanding work.
She had also received several awards and her classmates even crowned her with a nickname “Queen of Fashion”.
Lina Maria panted, as she took the lift up to the 10th floor of the office.
“Lina Maria!!”
Lina Maria froze and shut her eyes tightly as she heard Sister Fei Yi’s loud voice from across the office.
How embarrassing! Who knows how many people are staring at her right now!
Lina Maria slowly opened her eyes and walked towards Sister Fei Yi’s desk.
“Sister Fei Yi... Sorry, I am a minute late...”
“You actually know that you are late! Wasn’t my warning to you the previous time enough?!”
“Don’t think that your surname is Lin, I will let you go! Let me tell you, even if your grandfather owns this company, as long as I am here, I can make you quit!”
There are 2 teams in the fashion design department. Sister Fei Yi is the leader of Team A.
It is said that you could offend anyone in the design department, except for Sister Fei Yi.
She has connections with people from every department of the company. And whatever she asks for, she gets them!
She has always been a perfectionist at work, and would never accept any designs less than that.
No doubt, she is the most outstanding employee in the company.
Even though she is strict with her team of designers and often appears to be unreasonable with her words, people who knows her personally could see her genuine love and care for everyone.
She is also well-known to be a motherly figure in the team, which explains why everyone calls her “Sister Fei Yi”.
Lina Maria walked back to her desk, feeling dejected.
Because she was late for work this morning, Sister Fei Yi shortened her design draft’s deadline from a week to three days!
This means that she would definitely need to burn midnight oil when she gets home!
How frustrating!
Lina Maria had no time to waste and she immediately started on her draft. Soon, it was time for lunch.
The colleagues in the department have asked Lina Maria along for lunch, but she politely declined their offer, and told them to go ahead without her.
“Ring ring...” Lina Maria’s phone rang shortly after her colleagues have left.
Since there was no one else in the office, she immediately switched on the hands free mode on her phone and continued to work on her draft at the same time.
“Hello, Jenny... What’s the matter?”
“Miss Wen Xin... Do you know what time is it now? Don’t tell me that you are still working? Are you that short of money?” Silva Jenny asked mockingly.
“Hurry up and come down, I will wait for you downstairs!” Silva Jenny then ended the call without waiting for Lina Maria’s reply.
Lina Maria could only sigh helplessly. Who called Silva Jenny to be her best friend since high school? If it was someone else, she would not hesitate to ignore the invitation.
If she were to choose someone who had gone through thick and thin with her over the past six years, it would only be Silva Jenny.
Even though Silva Jenny has a rough and boyish appearance and personality, she is still able to get along well with Lina Maria, who is completely opposite of her.
Actually to call Silva Jenny as her best friend? That’s an understatement! More accurately, she is already a part of Wen Xin’s family.

“Knock knock...”
“Come in.” Lucas Lopez commanded in a cold voice.
“President Wang, these are the company’s financial reports for the past 8 months that you have requested for during the meeting this morning.” Justin reported to Lucas Lopez.
“Put it over there and leave.” Lucas Lopez did not look up but replied coldly, while resuming his signing on some important documents.
Justin swiftly walked over to the table and placed the documents down.
“President Wang, the investigator have some news for you”
Lucas Lopez’s hand stiffened for a moment. He placed his Montblanc fountain pen down on the table and looked at Justin.
