Chapter 5

King's POV

I kept glancing over to her as I drove us out of the marketing town. She really was a sight (despite being dirty and looking beaten up to a pulp) she was stunning.

I didn't expect to find my mate today... or ever for that matter. I've ruled for many years, way longer than what she's even been alive for, and after a while the thought of having a mate just became distant.

I didn't need a mate nor did I want one... that was until now. I wouldn't let her go, especially knowing that she won't survive a second here without me.

The mate pull was unbelievable the second I saw her on that stage. I could hardly control my wolf seeing her standing there shaking like a leaf under the lights...

I had to fight the urge to break the glass wall between us and to take her with me but I couldn't do it knowing that I would have exposed myself to everyone in the room... So instead, I just told one of my guards that I wanted to buy her calmly and he sorted it out from there.

That was going to be a problem though... a human mate for the King. I'll need to figure out a plan.

I even told Nolan and Grey that I got bored and decided just to buy a human for the fun of it which they accepted without question. It was normal at this point for the hierarchy to do so.

It wasn't uncommon to have a human as a mate either... the humans that ended up with a wolf or a demon as their mate were the luckier ones truthfully... it meant they would be cared for and protected in this world and could be turned half wolf/demon through the mating process.

But as for the King having a human mate? Now that was an open invite to all of my enemies. Not to mention a battle with pack members who would wish to deny her.

I'd kill them all.

I was lost in my train of thoughts before hearing a sudden hiss of pain escape my mates lips from beside me after the car hit a slight bump in the road.

"What is it?!" I demand to know immediately, wanting to know what caused her pain as I glance between her and the road.

She looks embarrassed from letting the noise escape and instead of telling me with words I follow her gaze as she looks down to her cut up bare feet.

"What happened?" I demand next, wanting to know why she was in that condition...

I had noticed briefly back in the room that her feet were messed up but the mate bond soon took control and all I could focus on was her floral scent when she stood closer to me.

"I...um...I..." She stutters quietly, searching for something to say as I look at her again- raising an eyebrow this time to hurry her up.

"My... my father... I was running through the woods back home... to get away from my father..." She puts together a sentence, causing my eyebrows to now pull down in annoyance.

She was running through the woods in her bare feet to get away from her own father? Why?

I was about to ask the question when she winced again causing me to break the car on the side of the road.

The cars behind me soon followed suit, as I mind-linked my Beta Grey to bring the pack doctor over.

After a brief few minutes of waiting, Grey tapped my car window causing me to roll it down to see Julian standing beside him holding his doctor bag.

"Go around to the other door Julian, her feet are messed up and the drive home is too long to wait." I instruct as he nods briefly before moving around to open my mates car door.

I glance back at Grey, who fires me a brief smirk causing me to growl lowly at his recognition.

He knows me too well and knows that I wouldn't do this for any old human. I wouldn't do this for anybody for that matter. He's probably figured this whole thing out already... after all, I didn't make him my Beta because he was dumb now did I? If that were the case then I'd make Nolan the Beta. He's all muscle and no brains that one.

I quickly mind-link the smart ass to keep the news of my mate to himself and he nods back respectfully before jogging back to his car.

If anybody were to figure it out so soon then I'm glad that it was him at least. I know he won't tell.

I'm snapped back to reality after hearing yet another wince of pain, causing me to snap my gaze down towards the pack doctor as I watched him clean the open wounds.

I know that humans don't heal very fast but I could transfer some of my blood to her once we reach my kingdom and it should help heal her faster.

I watch intently as my mates eyes begin to water in discomfort as Julian begins to wrap the clean bandages around her feet and ankles.

"Pain relief? What do you have with you?" I question, knowing that the bandages won't be enough to subside the pain she must be feeling.

He too must be confused at how much I seem to care about this situation... I've never cared... especially not for a human.

"Ah yes sir... I have some Piktoline but that may be too strong for a human... oh wait... I also have some strong aspirin in here too... here you are." He rummages through the large bag before handing me a box of pills.

I nod as he packs away the rest of his stuff, closes the car door, and heads back. I retrieve my water bottle from earlier and hand her it with the pills which she takes without hesitation.

The Piktoline would have definitely knocked her out... for a few days at least... it was a pain relief made especially for wolves to cope with longer lasting injuries.

"Thank you." She states after taking two of the pills, handing me back the water with a faint smile.

"You can finish it... you must be thirsty no?" I tell her, as she nods in appreciation taking yet another drink from the bottle - seeming to enjoy it more this time without the pills.

I put the car back into drive, taking off again down the road with the other cars following behind us again. It wasn't long before I caught up with the cars that were ahead since they had stopped to wait further up the road.

"I'm guessing you have questions?" I ask next, watching as she stares aimlessly at the trees passing by.

"A few." She states next, seeming a lot more comfortable now with her feet bandaged.

"Go on... I'll try my best to answer." I state, waiting for her to speak.

She gulps nervously, before looking to me to ask-

"Where am I? W-What is this place? Is it another country or...?" She trails off, allowing for the confusion to take over.

"Another country? Try another realm doll... this is Revnok. This is my land." I tell her proudly.

I am the king of the land, and you, my mate, will be the Luna Queen.

But I do not speak it out.

It still needs a plan.
