Chapter Three
With my courier bag packed and a small suitcase, we were off to the airport. Taking in Lolip one last time before moving to Titant. Lolip was Alpha Jacob’s territory and with my parents' being royal guards, they stayed close. However, I was moving to another territory with a new Alpha that I knew nothing about. Ambridom was a vast continent made up of 8 territories all together. Each one of different sizes, Zcythe was the main city of the upper territory and Titant being one of the main port towns and Sacred Woodlands being the heart of them all, being a place of sanctuary and peace. Rogues of every culture from witches, faes, werewolves, vamps, mermaids, sirens, morgans, and so many more are said to live in the vast woodlands that span hundred of miles across Ambridom. Dragons from every element were said to have many dens and colonies in the Woodlands.
Feeling the car slightly lurch, my focus was brought back to the windshield, we had already arrived at the airport.
"Are you ready?" Liz asked with an anxious smile.
"Yes, let's grab a bite to eat before we board. We still have forty five minutes before departure." I giggled.
"Sounds like a plan. Sorry we are a bit early, but I am so excited for you, I couldn't help but rush here." She nervously giggled.
"Liz, it's totally ok, I am very excited too." I laughed at her cute pouty expression.
"I am excited to begin our journey together in this new faraway land." Freya chimed.
"Maybe our mate will be there!" I could sense her excitement but all I could do was roll my eyes at her last statement.
"Uhhh, did I miss something?" Liz looked at me funny.
Tapping my head "Freya is excited too and said maybe our mate is there." Rolling my eyes once again Liz let out a muffled snicker. Lizara had yet to meet her mate at twenty six and being younger than my mother who was 37, she still had plenty of time. Though I do notice hers sighs, and her sadness, but I never see the hope dull in her eyes.
Lizara began exiting the car with her suitcase in hand
" Don't forget your suitcase in the trunk! You don't want to get down there and have no clean panties." she snickered.
"Lizzzzzz!" I said embarrassed slightly blushing. She giggled and waved for me to get a move on.
As we entered the terminal my stomach began to growl with all the breakfast smells coming from all around. "I guess I am hungrier than I thought." I blushed as I grabbed my stomach to try and muffle it’s outcries.
"In that case, let's grab a bite from that little store and head to check in." She pointed to a small cafe with a yellow sign that read "McNallies". Upon walking in, the smell of freshly cooked bacon, sausage, and eggs teased my nose causing my stomach to sound off again."At least your stomach agrees with my selection." Liz chortled. " I will have a bacon, egg white croissant with a side of hash browns and a large frappe. Anya?" she glanced at me seeing me in confusion staring at the board.
"Uhhhh, I will have what she's having and can I request a side of sausage links with mine, please?"
"Yes ma'am. That will be a total of $33.27. Cash or card?"
"Card." I stammered a bit. Liz went to slide hers but I had already placed mine in the reader. Typing in my PIN she helped me set up. The reader dinged and read ACCEPTED. Liz on the other hand just gave me the, I had that look with her hands on her hips. I smiled" It's my turn to treat us. You have been doing it the last few months now, it's my turn." I grinned ear to ear. Feeling accomplished and confident that I could do this. Checking the time as we waited for our orders, we had thirty minutes left before departure. We had 15 minutes to check in.
"I got to say, my timing is quite impeccable." She grinned
"Number 657 and 658' The barista handed us our orders, we thanked her, and we departed the little cafe. Heading towards the main desk to check in, I glanced at a clock on the wall and noticed we still had eleven minutes to spare for check in.
"Names, IDS, and flight numbers?" the gentleman asked
"Lizara Andrews and Anya Grayson flight number 297." Liz answered for both of us. While I pulled out my ID. The gentleman scanned both IDs and typed a few things on his computer.
"AH yes, here you two are. Here are your first class boarding passes and Miss Andrews, here is your return pass. I hope you have a wonderful flight." He handed us our passes, we thanked him, and we went to sit at a little glass table to eat our cooled croissant sandwiches.
"Well," Liz glanced at the time." we have 20 minutes before departure so let's get these down and head to..." she glanced at the passes "Lane 23." she stated and began looking around for a map or sign. Locating a large map on the wall. "Well our luck is just marvelous today, it is right around the corner." She grinned. " Must be your birthday luck showering down on us today." She winked as she stuffed the last little bit of her sandwich in her mouth and began cleaning up. Finishing my sandwich as well, I began cleaning up our trash and disposing of it.
"Ready?" she whispered. I nodded and we headed towards Lane twenty three to board our plane. Butterflies frantically scurring around in my stomach as we got closer. My hands shook a little as my breath came rapidly. The nervousness didn’t go unnoticed as Liz grabbed my hand. The Lady checked our passes and called over another attendant to help us be seated.
"Right this way." A cheery, brunette woman with beautiful mint green eyes chimed while escorting us to the front of the plane. Makes me wonder if she misses the ocean as most mermaids, morgans, and sirens had beautiful pastel colored eyes of the seas. She led us through two dividers and into a beautiful, lavish area. "This is first class and your seats are right here." she smiled while pointing to our seats. "Do you need any help with your luggage or maybe a blanket and pillow?"
I smiled at the mention of blanket and pillow knowing I would be taking a good 8 hour nap on this flight.
"Two pillows and two blankets please." Liz requested as she began placing her luggage in the overhead. I began shuffling suitcases up and nearly falling backwards, lifting it above my head. Liz tentatively grabbed my arm, steadying me while using her other hand to lift the suitcase.
" You definitely need sleep." she worriedly looked at me."Your first shift takes a lot of energy out of you and the four hour run, packing, and drive here didn't help the matter either. Your mother would kick my ass if she were here." She stated as she finished pushing my suitcase into the overhead and beckoning me to sit.
"Here are your pillows, blankets, and I hope you don't mind but I brought two sleeping masks and two pairs of headphones to help with the light and sound." she smiled cheerfully handing over the items. Her smile being contagious I smiled back at her.
"Not at all. I had completely forgotten, thank you so much." Liz gently handing me each item." Anya, we have to have our seat belts on for take off so just hold on a bit longer." she stated. A strange dinging noise was heard before a man's voice was overheard on the speaker.
"This is your captain speaking. I just want to touch in and say lets have a wonderful, safe flight. Please, at this time, buckle your seat belts. If you have any problems our 6 lovely attendees will be around to help you." Ding.
Liz had already buckled and had begun helping me buckle when I heard the whirling of the engines. I could hear the pilot and copilot going over buttons, switches, levers, and thingamabobs I couldn't even categorize. Feeling the plane begin to move forward with a dual pole lever the pilot was pushing. I could feel the excitement build in my chest. With that excitement also came the exhaustion that ebbed the excitement slightly.
Ding. "This is the captain again, seat belt sign is off. You are free to move around the cabins." Ding.
With that Liz helped me unbuckle and recline my seat to the bed position handing me my pillow, blanket, and eye mask. I waved away the headphones as the whirling of the engine was soothing enough to sleep too. She smiled and nodded. With that I pulled the mask down and slipped into slumber.
