Chapter 2

The next day, Mom is running around planning the party of the century. Making calls to caterers, decoration shops, and the bakery. On top of that she is making invitations for every Alpha, Beta, and Gamma in the country. Aiden and I keep trying to help her out, but she prefers to do it all herself so it’s perfect.

“Mom, do you want me to help prepare the invitations?” I ask as she just got off the phone.

“No, its fine Hun, I got it.” She says and starts putting them into envelopes.

“Alright then, I’m going to head to Celeste’s Lake house for a sleep over is that alright?” I ask.

“Sure, have fun. Come home at a decent time tomorrow because we are going to start putting decorations up.” She says.

“Sounds good Mom.” She gets so enthusiastic when it comes to party’s and decorating. The best part is, she’s amazing at it. I give her a kiss on the cheek and go to my room to put some cloths in a bag along with my bikini. I love my swimsuit. Its tie dye with white, black, and teal. I can’t wait to go for a dip in the nice sandy lake. It’s just what I need right now to get my mind off everything. I went up to Celeste’s room down the hall to see if she is ready to go. She came out with her backpack, and we went down to the parking garage and took my new red Mercedes EQG. Perks of being high rank in the most powerful pack in the world is your loaded, but around here unless its Selene, we don’t gloat about it. Even if a pack member doesn't have money, they are still a vital part of the pack and are well taken care of. The lake house is only about an hour away from the pack house. When we finally get there, we run inside to put our swimsuits on, and we race to the lake. We giggle and act like we are six with our towels on hand. We run in and let the cool water relieve us from the hot pre-summer air. We don’t get out until we are as pruned as raisins.

“Thank Goddess we are almost done with school. I don’t know how much longer I can stand Selene. If she calls me fat one more time, I’m going to blow her from the face of this earth.” I sigh as I lay out a beach towel on the hot sand. We lay down and start tanning and drying off.

“There is only two days of school. After that you’ll only see her in the morning and think about it. You might be the future Alpha. She won’t have any choice but to obey and respect you. Just imagine it, Athena Goldstein the most powerful alpha in the world.” She winks at me and laughs.

Since Aiden and I are twins we both have equal chance of obtaining the Alpha title. Even though twins are rare among the werewolf race, there is a ritual in which Aiden, and I will fight when we turn 21 and the winner will inherit the title when the current Alpha steps down. My brother and I are nervous about who will be stronger and get the title but no matter who wins we are still twins and we will still respect and love each other just as we always have. We made an oath on that when we were 15.

“Wont that be something. I just hope if I do become alpha ill have a supportive mate who will help me with the responsibility.” I giggle and put on some sunglasses.

“Hey hey hey, don’t leave me out! I'm the future Beta, if you do become alpha, I’ll be right there with you to help you run the pack. That is the job of the Beta after all.” She glares at me. She is the oldest child of James the current Beta. When my father steps down so will the current Beta and Gamma. Me or Aiden, Celeste, and a guy named Atlas will be the next generation of leaders of the pack. Atlas’s mother, the current Gamma, Chione, is a kind and powerful woman. She and her wolf, Sarah, can control Frost. Atlas is a cool guy and has been a friend since I started school. He recently had his first transformation and obtained the power to influence the earth with his wolf Cerberus.

“What would I do without you?” I smile at her.

“You’d be completely lost and hopeless that’s what.” She laughs and winks at me. “What do you think your mate will be like?”

I sit up and look out into the distance. What do I think? “Well, I have no idea, but I hope he is strong, but kind. He is supportive and protective. He is a family kind of guy and is extremely loyal, but then again there is no way a guy like that exists.” I laugh and look at Celeste. “What about you? What do you want your mate to be like?”

“Same as you.” She laughs. “It’s like what you said, we can only wish.” We sit on the beach for a couple of hours to get a nice golden tan. Then we went in when the sun started to set. We get into some comfy pajamas get pillows and blankets and sit on the balcony to watch the beautiful simmering stars and started a nice campfire.

“Do you think I will win against Aiden when it comes time for the ritual?” I ask and stare into the fire. “I mean I would love to become Alpha and make my parents proud, but I don’t know If I can take the title for myself and leave Aiden with nothing.”

“You won’t being leaving him with nothing. You do what you think is best for you not what's best for everyone else. If you win it will be fair and square and if he wins you may be Luna of another pack if your mate is an alpha. You and Aiden are siblings not just that, you are twins. Nothing will come between that bond.” She says.

“I guess that’s what I’m worried about. Losing him, but you’re right I have nothing to worry about.” I smile and relax my anxious mind. He’s my twin. My other half. My soul mate, and there is no way we or anyone else can do to change that.

“And yea, I bet you’ll kick his ass.” She laughs confidently.

“You really think so huh? How about it future Beta? Do you think I can kick your ass?” I smirk and throw my pillow at her.

“OH! This. Means. war!” She gets up and runs into the house laughing like a crazy person. I run after her only to find she is loaded with ammo. Meaning a mountain of pillows. She smiles evilly and starts firing. I shriek and run to find my own ammo. I find some pillows and hide for a sneak attack. I hide behind the bedroom door and stalk my opponent. No way is she winning this. Finally, she walks slowly down the hall trying to be cautious. As soon as she goes past the bedroom I quickly but quietly sneak out of the room and then I run up and tackle her to the ground.

“Get off me!” She squeals as I hit her in the face with a pillow.

“Say mercy!” Rest of the night we laugh and talk like we always have growing up.
