Chapter 3
It's been a week since I took over the pack. It's been busy finalizing taking over all of the pack companies and accounts. Then made sure our parents all had enough money to do any and everything they want. They will be leaving in a few days and we are planning a going away BBQ for them. The kitchen staff is slaving away making all our parents favorites for one last meal before they leave for who knows how long. All the wolves in our pack love our parents. They have overseen the safety of our pack for a long time and only strengthen our pack bonds.
All four sets will start their journey together then split into each couple before they finally come home. I made sure they knew to take all the time they need they all deserved long vacation. Taking over at a young age made them all grow up fast now it's time for them to be the kids they missed out on being. We will all miss them.
The party was a great stress relief for us all. Hannah has kept her distance from me but now has her claws set on John. He is much more patient than I am but like me is waiting for his mate. We grew up watching our patents and want what they have. We have also seen females reject their mates for being with too many others and feeling like they have to fight with others to keep their mates. I for one never want my mate to feel she has to compete with someone for me. On the other end, I have also seen males reject their mate for being with one other male. The double standard is stupid. I wish I could make a rule about saving yourself for your mate but then that takes free will away from you. And I am not a tyrant. I will ask the elders to add in the teaching the importance of accepting what you can't change. And if you plan to play the field don’t be upset if your mate did the same. I want equality here.
Watching the van pull out of the driveway heading off the pack lands we wave our parents goodbye and safe trips. Had we known that was the last time we would have seen them I would have ordered them to stay home. But I’m not an oracle or a seer. That night the four of us sat in the office talking about the upcoming blue moon mating ball. This is held once a year where ever the king decides has the best well I don’t know how he makes his decision. I won't be attending due to just taking over me and my wolf can't pull ourselves away from our pack. John and Kyle will be going along with all the young and unmated wolves who want to go and see if their mate is there. Wade is only 17 so still too young to find his mate so no need for him to go and leaves me with my gamma to help run the pack for the fives days they will be gone.
Kyle has been heartbroken since he and Katie found out they were not mates. they met when her family joined our pack. Her father was killed because their alpha was too blinded by the young wolves to see the pack was in danger. So when the rogues attacked they were not prepared for it. The pack was demolished. Leaving the ones that could run. Katie her mother and two brothers were found by my mother one day when she was having a run in the woods. My mother took them in right there on the spot hearing their story. Brought them to the packhouse feed them got them rooms they chose to only use one for the first month here too scared to be away from each other. One day Kyle's mother sent him to give them some new clothes and a basket of all the things you need soaps and other things girls think you need. When Katie opened the door they both felt a connection to each other. He was the first wolf she talked to here and they created such a bond.
He was not the only one surprised to find out they were not mates we all were. Katie cried for days and we didn’t see Kyle for a week. When Kyle's cousin tom came home from college and found his mate in Katie things were bad for Kyle. But then something changed in him like he and his wolf decided that the bond had not been of mate but family. Tom and Kyle grew up like brothers being that they didn’t have siblings due to an attack on the pack after our births. Most of the females my mother's age only had one successful pregnancy. The rest were lost in miscarriages or died shortly after birth. No one knows why they were only able to have one pup. So most of us are pretty close as we were raised to be brothers and sisters.
Katie's pain from her broken heart was fixed in an instant. She still felt bad that Kyle was hurting but he never made her feel it was her fault and told her over and over he was happy for her. They promised to always stay close. I am hoping that this trip to the violent waters pack will end with Kyle coming home with his mate. John can stew for a while longer just so I’m not all alone. I know wade is still mateless and young but I also have a strong feeling that he will find his fast. All I know is I am ordering Hannah to go in hopes she finds hers and leaves for his pack. That is a party I plan to throw. Now I know your thinking but you have a set of twin sisters and doesn't john have a brother. Well yes and no. My twin sisters were adopted by my mother when their mother died in childbirth and her mate who already had a weak heart from a recent attack died when she did. And John's brother well he is a half-brother from his mother being attacked in the woods by her uncle's best friend when she was younger. My grandfather did not take kindly to that kind of thing and sentences him to death.
Kyle's mother was only 15 at the time and found she was carrying a pup. The pack banded around her helping to raise Shawn. When Kyle's father found out she was his mate he worried she would reject him due to her trauma but she didn’t. on the other side, she had always worried she would be rejected because of what happened to her. But Kyle's father had been in love with the strength she-wolf for years. Once he found out she was his the only one that could make him leave was her. A year later they had Kyle. Shawn loves his little brother. And takes every opportunity to beat him. Shawn is one of our top warriors happily mated to his best friend Brian. Brian makes the best lemon cakes just don’t tell him I said so.
