Chapter 2
First was Torian's sudden birthday, which I knew nothing about. The second was the strange expression on Jace's face, all because I called Torian my boyfriend, as if they were sorry and pitiful for my ignorance.
I don't just get it!
You should tell her the truth and stop hiding it when she will still find it. I can't believe the young girl got high hopes for Torian, gosh! " I heard another voice mixed with the music that was still playing.
"He is in his room!...Off you go, wish him a happy birthday, but keep that flower aside, or he will throw it in your face! " A female was added this time.
I never cared to check on who it was. I can't bear seeing those mockery looks again.
"Lola, don't mind..."
I couldn't wait for Jace to say whatever he had to say this time. With a crazy run, I dashed off, climbing the stairs, heading straight to Torian's room. I had to find him and hear the truth from him. Those taunting comments from his sick and annoying friends were still resounding in my head, and they were doing damn well in leaving me broken.
The fact that Torian was having a birthday party without telling me was making their words sound true to me.
Could it be that-
Oh, no! Lola, it can't be!!
I sniffed back my tears, praying it was all a lie. I can't bear to have all that as the truth. I could feel my wolf tremble in fear.
Oh, God.
I finally got to the door of his room and, seriously, I found it hard to push it open as I had always done. I rarely knock. I can't remember the last time I knocked before entering his room. But now, I've got no power to open the door.
My gaze lowered to the flower in my hand, making me recall what those friends of Torian had said about it. Oh, shit... It was so hurtful that tears cascaded down my cheeks.
I started to tap on the door, but paused the moment I heard some strange voice. I couldn't wait any longer and pushed the door wide open.
My eyes popped out in shock as I stared at the scene happening right in front of me.
I froze. My heart stopped right in my chest as my breath hitched in my throat. My mouth gaped.
His hands were wrapped around her slender waist and hers went around his neck with one of her hands tugging at his hair as their mouths worked on each other in a passionate kiss.
Not even an inch of space was left between them, and that made tears stream down my cheeks with their moans and groans piercing my heart like a million stabs of knives, shattering it into countless pieces.
He drew her closer, lapping her body and roaming his hand around her waist region, down to her butt, which he squeezed and spanked, causing her to moan under the kiss. My heart twitched so tight that a sob threatened to escape my lips, but I quickly grasped my breath, covering my mouth with my palm, and dropping the flowers right there.
I ran away as fast as my legs could carry me without caring if my footsteps would get their attention. The tears in my eyes blinded my vision so that I didn't see the stairs well, causing me to repeatedly kick my toe, but the pain never made me stop running.
Hot tears kept prickling and rolling down my eyes continuously without stopping for a second. All I wanted was to get home and bury myself in my bed. I wished it was a nightmare or some kind of hallucination, but each step away reminded me of the reality and the fact that all I saw was real.
I couldn't recognize the girl with him. She had anĀ unfamiliar face, and since I had been with Torian, I'd never seen her around, making me wonder so hard who she was and how she took Torian away from me in a short period of time I had left.
Based on what I saw inside that room, I didn't need a fortune teller to tell me she was his lover, if not his true mate. The kiss was too intense and passionate. They were both lost in those moments, and none of them noticed my presence. Their moans wouldn't leave my head, resounding like I was still in that room. This was making me feel like fainting or maybe burying myself in the ground.
I regretted ever coming here at this moment. Perhaps I shouldn't have given him a surprise visit, but then how would I know that the same man I had handed over my whole heart and loved so dearly already had another woman in his life? This is so shocking and caused my soul to bleed.
Finally, I passed through the hallways and got down the stairs. The loud and fast clicks of my heel on the tiled floor drew the attention of every one of Torian's friends, who were partying and dancing their asses out. They all turned their gazes at me. Some were already giggling sarcastically, mumbling some words, which made them laugh the more.
Holy shit!
Why did I bring myself here?
More tears kept rolling down while I ignored them all, speeding my way to the door. I'm leaving here immediately before I break down.
Just as I got to the door, Jace caught hold of my palm and drew me back. I swiveled, lost balance, and fell on his body.
"What happened?" He asked, and I dragged myself off of him in a rush, trying to wriggle my hand away from his grip.
I couldn't look up, not just at him, but at everyone. They all knew what was going on. They all knew that Torian, my boyfriend, was upstairs with another girl.
Why the hell is he asking what happened?
"Jace, please let me go! Free me!" I shrieked with tears, making my vision blur.
"You saw him with her, right? But I tried to stop you... I '
"Get your hands off me!" I yelled at him in a cracked tone, and the others laughed.
"I never realized she had such high hopes for the hot Alpha to be. I wonder what he did to her?" someone chipped in, breaking my heart the more.
"Lola, please calm your nerves. I can explain. I can '
"Jace, why are you being so stupid and annoying? Why are you holding me when you've known all along and never told me, I... I... I?" My voice continued cracking and I kept losing my breath.
The scene was replaying in my head, sending sharp pains into my heart. This was the last thing I expected from Torian.
Just then, I heard footsteps from the stairs, and Jace took off his grip on me and walked away hastily, leaving me standing there all alone.
I darted my gaze up to the staircase, and there he was, with her. They both clamped their hands together, walking down a step at a time. My eyes were glued to him, and I couldn't move an inch as my heart was thudding inside my chest so loud and fast.
They got down to the sitting room, and he moved closer to me, a few inches away.
"Lola?" He called out, looking into my face with those cheesy smiles that make me go crazy. He looked more handsome than before, his blonde hair and those bright hazel eyes drawing me into its depth. I felt my heart twitch at the fact that he was still affecting me so much.
"What are you doing here? And when did you return? Why didn't you tell me? " He asked curtly, his initial smile vanishing like it was never there. His tone had also turned cold and suddenly.
"You needed me to notify you that I was on my way so you could pretend you had nothing to do with her, right?...You needed me to notify you so you could show me your phony demeanor! "I half-yelled, trying hard to keep my voice strong as I didn't want to cry in front of the girl beside him. I've yet to look at her closely to see how she looks. I don't think I will get the courage to even do that.
"What's up?..What are you saying?" He sneered and made a soft chuckle that caused my eyes to flicker.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about, and don't try forging any of your flimsy lies on me... I saw all you were doing in your room! " I screamed, blinking out the tears in my wet eyes.
"Lola, she is my mate," he stated roughly, with no emotions, and it sounded like what he said was nothing. My jaw dropped as shudders ran through my spine; goose bumps filled my entire body with terror, hitting me so hard that my legs dragged back unintentionally.
All I prayed for was for it to be a prank. I waited for him to call it a joke, but he never did. I pulled myself together and moved closer to his front, cupped his jaw, and drew closer to him.
"It's a prank, right?" I muttered the question, gasping as I swallowed the bile in my throat. Tears were flowing freely down my cheeks.
"Don't touch me!" He huffed and slapped my hand away, pushing me off.
