A talk
“You gentlemen can have a seat in the lobby if you want to wait for your alpha. We have coffee and soft drinks in the kitchen over there. I’m sorry to say that the only one qualified to operate the coffee machine is currently being whisked away by your alpha” Bella heard luna Alice tell the gamma and warrior and she herd laughing as a reply.
Graham guided her into the lunas office and shut the door behind them. Bella got nervous all of a sudden.
“Bella” he started.
“Yes?” she asked when his pause continued. He grabbed her hands and stepped closer, her breath hitched.
“Come with us to our hotel, let me spend the day with you” he said, and she wanted to say yes. She almost did.
“I-I can’t” she stuttered. “I need to be here to help out with the meetings and finalise the last things for tomorrow.”
“Do you really? Can’t they call someone else? I want you to be by my side, I don’t want you to be around other alphas and gammas and other unmated wolves” he said impatiently. Bella nodded, she understood him, but it still hurt a bit when he made it sound like her work could be done by anyone.
“No, they can’t call someone. We have worked hard to get this to come together for four weeks. I can’t just walk away. I understand what you feel and trust me, I would like nothing else than to spend the day with you. But I’m needed here” she explained, and she could see that he didn’t like her answer.
“Bella you will be leaving with me when the summit is done. I won’t leave my mate behind. You do realise that?” he said in a dark voice. Once again Bella nodded.
“I do, I know. But that gives me a little over a week to train my replacement” she said. That wasn’t a lot of time, she thought. Maybe she could commute in the beginning. That’s when she realized, she didn’t know where his pack was located.
“Graham?” she noticed a small shiver running through him as she said his name.
“Yes Bella”
“Where are your pack located?” she asked. He smiled at her.
“In Montana” he replied.
“That’s quite a bit away from Kentucky” she replied and scratched the idea of commuting. He laughed and she was distracted by the sound.
“It sure is sweetheart” he chuckled. She blushed at the endearment.
“Will you give me this week to see the summit through and train a replacement? Then I’ll be all yours” she asked.
“You are already all mine Bella” he said husky and leaned in towards her. “But I’ll give you a week if you think that it’s necessary” he agreed. She frowned, again with the demeaning of her work.
“You might not think that what I do is important or difficult alpha Graham, but although I’m just an omega, I take pride in my work, I’m good at what I do, and I make a difference both for the company and the pack” she told him and took a step back to create some space.
He looked surprised and confused.
“I didn’t mean to say that your work isn’t important. I’m sure it is. I just mean that there are other omegas, or even epsilons, that can take over for you so we can spend time together” he said frowning.
“In other words, how hard can my job be?” Bella retorted. “I can tell you that dealing with several alphas’, betas’ and gammas’ egos everyday isn’t a walk in the park. I think I should get the meeting room ready for the next meeting” she said and turned around to leave.
She felt his hand on her arm, holding her back.
“Wait don’t go, not when you are mad at me” he said in a softer voice.
“I’m not mad, I’m just not happy with you” she replied, looking at him over her shoulder.
“What can I do to make it better?”
“It will be alright, I just need to focus on my work for now”
“Will you call me when you get the chance? I’ll come and pick you up when you get of work” he suggested.
“I will” she said with a smile. “I have you’re number on file, I’ll send you a text, so you’ll get mine”
“Thank you, Bella” he said, the way he said her name made her stomach feel like it was filled with butterflies. Then he took her hand and placed a kiss on it. That made her whole body tingle, and she could feel the blush on her face.
He placed the palm of his hand on one of her cheeks and smiled. She leaned into his touch just as Ted mind liked her that the next alpha had arrived. She sighed.
“I need to go, the next visitor has arrived” Bella told Graham. He nodded and followed her into the lobby where his men waited for her.
She led them over to the elevators and they all stood waiting for the express one to arrive. When it did, Bella greeted the alpha, luna, gamma and one warrior of the Bloodlake pack and asked them to wait one minute as she sent her mate and his companions down. Graham didn’t break eye contact until the elevator doors closed.
“Thank you for your patients, please follow me and I’ll take you to alpha Sam” Bella told the new visitors. When they were handed over to the alpha and Mark, Bella went into the bathroom and just looked in the mirror. Just breathe and you will make it through the day, she told herself.
She exited the bathroom, still a bit shaky, and entered her password in her laptop. She found Graham’s information and added his phone number to her phone before sending a text to him.
B: Hi, this is Bella. Now you have my number. /B
G: Thanks sweetheart, have a good day at work and call me as soon as you can.
Bella smiled at the reply and grabbed the floorplan for the conference room in the venue before knocking on alpha Sam’s door.
“Come in” luna Alice called.
“I have the floorplan you asked for” Bella told her and handed it to her.
“How do you do it Bee? With everything that has happened I had forgotten all about this” the luna asked. Bella just shrugged.
“That actually brings me to the other thing I needed to talk with you about” Bella said.
“What is that?”
“I need to hand in my notice, I’m sorry that I couldn’t be more foreseeing, but I need to leave in little over a week. When the summit is over” Bella told her, the luna looked chocked.
“You are leaving us?”
“Yes, I thought you already knew” Bella said.
“No, why would I?”
“Luna, my mate is an alpha. If he was someone else, I could maybe persuade him to move to our pack. But as an alpha he can’t leave his pack. I can’t commute from Montana.”
“Oh, yes, I didn’t think about that. But Bee, what are we going to do without you?”
“You will manage, we will find someone suitable within the next day or two and then I’ll train them for the rest of my time” she sounded confident even though she wasn’t.
“I guess there is no other way, even though it makes me sad”
