CHAPTER FOUR

Weredragons are creatures that were able to transform at night to humans and sometimes with characteristics of a full-grown dragons. They are humans in shape but their skin transformed into reptilian scales, and they grew fangs and claws, a tail, and wings, all reminiscent of a specific species of dragon.

Those able to truly assume the shape of a dragon also gained all the corresponding dragon powers. Upon transformation into hybrid from, weredragons gained the ability to make dangerous bite and claw attacks. Frighteningly, they also spew fire from their breath.

Powerful magic was one way to become weredragon or through fusion of a dragon and a human with great powerful magic that took time to manifest. Also, powerful curses were laid on individuals, if not deliberately brought about magically. The initial transformation could occur when they were under great pressure or under attack. They were very powerful!

The werewolves were often seen as a threat to the weredragon race because the dragons were fewer in number.

The weredragons fondly lived either on the mountains or in the sea. They were very beautiful in human form and preferred staying that way because staying as a dragon was energy sapping.

The King of the weredragons was Adrian. He was known for his selfishness, brutality and greed for domination. All he wanted to do was to dominate and subdue every kind and species. Severally he had tried to disrupt the peace of the humans but Gwa had always found ways to stop him. With the constant war between the two species, Gwa had come to Adrian severally so they could come to a peace agreement but they always ended up fighting. Adrian was cold hearted and his only daughter was no different. With her beauty coupled with her cunning nature, she walked side by side with her father, causing terror to those who dared to oppose them. Thankfully with Gwa as leader of the werewolves, they were not able to succeed. This was the reason why they sought ways to kill him and how happy they were when an opportunity presented itself through Sham.

A werewolf slipped away from the rest of the group, went out of the forest and walked to the mountain of Ealdor where he knew the weredragons dwelt. Immediately the weredragons sensed the presence of a werewolf, they positioned themself for an attack but he changed to a human and went on his knees in surrender saying

"I come in peace".

"No werewolf is at peace with a weredragon" one of them replied.

"I want to see your king" the wolf said.

"What for?" They asked him with burning gaze.

"I have a way to kill Gwa the King of the werewolves" He responded. Everyone kept silent and peered at him, searching for signs of lies or deceit.

"Why would you want to betray your kind" one of the weredragons asked.

"That's none of your business" he replied. They discussed among themselves silently and one of them walked up to the werewolf and said come back after a full moon.

Word was sent to Adrian that a werewolf wanted to see him. He laughed wondering if this was one of Gwa's tricks to get to him but he had known that wolf for while now. That wolf had pride. He wouldn't resort to such silly antics.

****Few days ago (Raphael's flashback)

The physician walked into the King's Chamber and Raphael wondered what a human was doing in their midst. He felt something huge was going on. He stood to listen in on their conversation and he was shocked to hear that the king had been poisoned. The poison was served in bits and whoever was responsible wanted the king to suffer for long before he died.

"What poison could be strong enough to affect the great Gwa?" he asked himself. Then he heard the physician say the word "Silver poisoning". "What?" he asked himself shock from behind the door. ,

"Who could have done this?" he asked no one in particular. "Very few people were entrusted with this secret, so who could have done this?" Raphael felt anger well up Inside him as he figured only the protectors knew the secret that silver could harm the werewolves. This meant one of the protectors actually wanted to kill the leader of the pack. But who could it be?

Silver was not found anywhere around the werewolves because of the huge negative effect it had on them. It could kill the strongest werewolf if consumed for a long time. Apparently Gwa was fed with silver in bits without his knowledge. It was placed in his food, his water and everything he consumed. Raphael wondered where this werewolf got the silver from. From some one very rich, he guessed.

.********

A weredragon in human form bumped into Sham while he was strolling through the human village and dropped a paper in his hand. He read the words out loud "COME TO THE MOUNTAIN". He knew who it was from and set to leave later that night. On getting to the mountain, he was taken to the sea for that was were Adrian resided. One of the weredragons spat fire on a nearby rock on the floor. There was silence at first, but rumbling sound was heard with a great wave that Ied to the dividing of the sea.

"Come" the weredragon who spat out fire said and Sham followed. They walked in the mist of the sea and the water closed behind them. He walked into a beauty castle with pictures of different dragons on the corridor leading to a throne room. Unlike the werewolves who were simple creatures, the weredragons loved flashy and beautiful things. The corridor was painted in red with big statue of Adrian hanging on the wall. Admiring the art, Sham walked slowly. As he walked into the throne room, he saw paintings which told a story. Looking closer it was the story of the werewolves and weredragons many centuries ago. The room had two magnificent thrones with red marble floor.
