Chapter 01

Excerpt: FIND HER

A loud sound of gunshot echoed through the vast land of Angelico Villa, with birds flapping their wings around for safety. For a mafia den, it shouldn’t be a big deal but it seems to be at the moment. Angelico is the 2nd most feared mafia lord in the city and as much as he hates being the second, he can’t be number one either.

He’s always on dark shade and black hat, he limps on his left leg which was as a result of one of his fights.

He groaned as he squeezed the letter in his palm. His only daughter had just eloped with her lover and left a letter for him instead.

He assembled his men to search for her in every book and crannies, his daughter is a dangerous accomplice to his business but seeing as she had to run when it comes to her marriage with Black,it greatly annoyed him.

“What do you mean Farah is nowhere to be seen?!” Mr.Angelico roared in his deep husky voice. He clenched his gun in anger making his men shrink on the spot.

“Uhm My lord... reports says it that Black Salvator is coming here tonight, and he got the news already.” One of the men struggled to say with his head down.

Angelico’s brows scampered each ways in confusion. He knows Black causes nothing peaceful but havoc.

His young girlfriend lady Mia exclaimed and started packing her things in fear but froze when Angelico’s eyes met hers.

She let out a nervous laugh “Uh I mean I forgot I have somewhere to be right now” She lied.

“Find her before 8pm tonight else you will loose your heads!. Tomorrow is the goddamn wedding!” Angelico cursed and the men scurried out of the house.

. . . . RIONA . . . .

It was a grey wet morning and the atmosphere was grim. Being caught up in traffic all day with low battery isn’t all fun for Riona. She had stepped out before she received news about her flight being rerouted. She sighed softly as she glance out through the window to see hordes of vehicles and a busy street. She looked from the window down to her purse and with a quiet click, the two locks on her purse parted ways. A smile lit up her face as she stares at the picture in her hand. It’s a picture of her deceased parent and she was going to visit their grave in Ohio before things went south for her.

An innocent and carefree woman she’s been ever since her parents death.

She was getting uneasy and bored. She couldn’t stay anymore and decided to walk in the drizzle predicting a no rain day for herself.

Getting to her apartment, she fantasize how happy Olive would be to see her back after making a fuss about not letting her leave in the morning. She put away the hair cascading by the side of her face with a smile then input the passcode.

Once getting inside, her legs froze in place when she saw a female dress and shoes in the living room. Scared to take more steps but she mustered the courage anyway.

Taking tentative steps towards the bedroom, she prays not to have wasted her life on this man. The house is under his name, she had given him her all because she’s an orphan and Olive was the only man in her life. 5 years relationship went down the drain when she opened the door on him banging another lady.

Tears welled up her sight unable to accept the reality before her.

“Uh what? Ain’t you supposed to be on the plane by now?” Olive fumbled out trying to get his pant on.

“Babe, we have everything already. Let’s get things over with” The blonde girl said with distaste for Riona.

That was when reality hits her hard and tears streamed down her cheeks. She was spacing out and the voices were sounding distant.

With wobbling feet, she scampered out of the house for safety. She could hear fast approaching footsteps and then some guys running towards her direction. Was this planned? She thought and her heart ache even more. She tripped over her heels and the sky rumbled, followed by a harsh downpour of rain.

“No, I can’t die like this” her lips wavered out of breath. She could feel strength departing from her already but she repudiated and ran for her life.

The always lively neighborhood suddenly became quiet and deserted. The air is cold and it smelled death making it seem like a sin to walk by this time of the night. The rain strokes is harsh and pouring sharply on her.

She’s totally worn out.

Just then, a car flashed it’s light on her face. It shocked her to the brim, thinking they’ve caught up with her and she would be killed. Her legs failed her, making her collapse on the ground.

Surprisingly it brought the car to an abrupt stop, and her heart thumped viciously against the wall of her chest.

“Please. . . “ she uttered.
