The Alpha's Gamma
"You're trying to tell me..." the Alpha took a step closer. "...a female killed my gamma?"
The bow slipped Raziya's hand the next moment as her eyes dilated in shock. She couldn't catch her next breath and couldn't blink either. Watching the wolf that had crashed to the ground with the arrow still it's head, she felt her entire body freeze.
"What .. What did you just say?" Her voice shook as she referred to Mona, her eyes not leaving the wolves.
"Oh! Dear Saviors, we have to leave! Right now!" Mona shrieked, but the princess was just too shocked and transfixed in fear. Her eyes were pinned on the wolf looking lifeless on the ground while the other howled around it.
"My Princess! Let's go!" Mona grabbed her hand and ran out of the woods with her.
Raziya was still shaking as they got to their horse.
"Is...is it dead?" She asked fearfully as she climbed onto her horse. At that moment, the entire place seemed to be going round in circles.
"It looks so, My Princesss!"
"But .. don't you think we should do something? Maybe we should go back and..."
"If we go back, the other one might attack us and it'd get us into more trouble. We need to leave while we still can" Mona replied and with an urge, they rode off.
...
They rode for a long time and doubly sure they had gone far enough, Raziya halted her horse. Mona did same and when she looked into the Princess' eyes, she found tears hanging in there.
"M...Mona, are... are you sure that was a wolf?" For the first time in forever, Mona found her Princess stuttering. She'd never seen her that scared before.
"I am very sure, My Princess. It's obvious. Oh! That's the reason I had double thoughts about going into the forest. We never should've gone in" Mona cried regrettably.
A tear finally slipped Raziya's eye as she looked behind. "What do I do, Mona? I'm scared. I...I never thought of meeting a wolf, not to mention killing one! I can't...I can't even believe it".
Silence dipped in.
"I... I suggest we just go back to the Palace for now, My Princess and tell everything to the King. He should have a solution" Mona advised, but it wasn't doing much good to Raziya.
"My Princess, please, we have to go".
Another tear slipped her eye and with a sniffle, they resumed their journey to the Palace.
His eyes held no remorse as he watched the men get whipped in front of him. Chewing gently on the apple, he enjoyed the bloody stripes that'd covered most parts of their body, and their pleas for help.
"Please, Alpha, have mercy!"
"Have mercy!"
"Please!"
The three men cried out as the men increased the lashes on their backs. It was more excruciating that they were all tied to poles and couldn't even make use of their hands and neither of the people gathered to watch them could do anything.
Done with the apple, he stretched out his hand and another was placed on it. Then, he resumed chewing.
Few of the people gathered how the Alpha could enjoy watching pain. Tho, they were used to it, they just wondered how.
Finally, he threw the half apple in his hand and stood up.
"It's getting boring" He said with a sigh, brushing his fingers into his silky hair.
And not giving any further instructions,, he walked away, leaving the three offenders to their fate.
Three of his companions followed him immediately and they had barely gone far when they spotted something disturbing - the Alpha's beta rushing through the gates with the gamma on his back.
The Alpha stopped walking, his brows crumpled in surprise. And so did the rest of his companions as they awaited the beta to get to where they were.
"Alpha!" He dropped the gamma on the ground and went on his knee as he bowed to the Alpha. The gamma was still in his wolf shape with an arrow stuck in it's head - it was a marvel to the Alpha.
"What happened out there?" He inquired, his voice deeper than a growl as he stared at the lifeless body before him.
And with regrets, the beta replied: "He's dead, Alpha".
The other companions were curious and wanted to ask for more details, but they knew they couldn't ask questions when the Alpha was there.
"Both of us", the beta continued. "We were just roaming in the woods, carrying out the task you'd assigned when all of a sudden, an arrow flew from nowhere and hit his head. I looked up and saw two ladies who ended up running away".
There was a while of silence.
"You're trying to tell me..." the Alpha took a step closer. "...a female killed my gamma?"
He dropped to a crouch before the body. "Who was it?"
"I...I have no idea. But...I heard the other lady call her princess. And the way she was dressed, I have a feeling she's indeed, royalty", The beta replied, same time the Alpha was pulling out the arrow from its head.
Holding it up, he looked at the head and the symbol was right there - boldly carved.
"Titasal Kingdom" He mumbled observantly. "King Zachary".
His beta and the other companions could only watch and hope they wouldn't end up faulty.
"Jerri", he called onto his beta, his cold eyes still scrutinizing the arrow. The beta didn't hesitate to bow.
"Yes, Alpha!"
"Get the horses ready".
