5. A Conversation
She protested again that they should leave. She not only wanted to protect them, but also she wanted to protect herself. Even though nothing had been done against her. She was not sure that her safety was guaranteed.
All the girls began to stare. There was a chill that ran up her spine. She slowly turned around. She was standing face to face with Prince of Chaos, Leviathan.
“Hi, I am Levi, and who might you be?” The prince of hell asked.
He stood there tall. His muscles where rippling through his black t-shirt. He had the sides of his head shaved and one section of his Chesnut brown hair was a small braid with a silver snake wrap around the bottom of the braid. He had a strong jaw with a bit of scruff. He looked like he had just stepped out of a Viking tv show. But his brown eyes were just staring at Elise.
Elise couldn’t find the words. Her mind was flooded with questions like: ‘Why is he talking to me? Why is this place not a battlefield at this point? Does he not know what I am. Yeah, that must be it.’ Before she could respond a drunk Georgia spoke up. “I'm Georgia” she said and stuck her hand out. The alcohol had made her bold.
Levi just looked at her. He didn’t say anything, but his displeasure was apparent on his face.
“This is my cousin Elise” Amanda said
Elise wanted to tread lightly. She needed to make sure she was careful. “Hi, you said your name is Levi?” If her assumption of him not knowing, who she was, was correct then she needed to play the part of the naïve girl.
“Yes, I am Levi Athan.”
“Oh, you are the one who threw this party. The bar tender mentioned you.”
“Yes. That is me. I was wondering if you wanted to go somewhere; we should have a conversation and I think privacy would be best.”
“I am so sorry Mister Athan, but you see we were just about to leave.”
Not knowing how serious the situation was. Her cousin thought Elise should have a bit of fun. So, she said in a cheerful voice. “We can stay longer.”
“But Amanda, you all are pretty toasted so maybe we should be going. I am the designated driver remember.”
“How about the four of us get a car to come pick us up; that way you can stay a bit longer with Levi here. I can give you the keys, and I will just pick it up tomorrow.” before Elise could debate with her cousin Levi spoke up.
“That is great idea. Here take some money for the ride.” He pulled out a money clip that was filled with bills. He took out a hundred and gave it to Amanda.” In her drunken state she hardly realized the bill was so high. “Thank you so much. You are such a gentleman.”
With that she dragged her friends away. She hoped that her cousin had finally found a man that she could be interested in. It always seemed weird that no one piqued her interest. She had lots of attention from men, but she never showed any interest in anyone.
“So how about that talk now little angel.”
Elise’s face went pale. He knew what she was.
“Now come along little Angel. You would not want any freak accidents to happen to any of these humans. Would you?” Now demon's weather a prince of hell or a low-level demon could cause things to happen. They couldn’t actually kill someone themselves. They could cause a sink hole, car crash, storms, really anything that would kill as long as the demons didn’t do it directly.
He grabbed Elise’s hand and started to pull her inside one of the rooms in the house off the balcony. He motioned for her to take a seat and she did. She thought. “If he attacks me, I can fight him until he gets bored. She had heard from Gabriel that demons got bored and often just puffed away.
“So little angel tell me, what type of angel are you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You are a woman. That tells me you are Azrael, Archangel of death’s child. Since there are no female angels. Well beside you. The thing is. You are giving off the power of an archangel but clearly you are scared of me. Which leads me to believe you are an average angel. So, tell me which one are you?”
" How do I know you won't hurt me based on my answer?”
“On my honor, I swear I won't harm you.”
“Demons do not have honor, even if they are one of the princes of hell.”
“We do make deals though, so how about this. If you promise to tell me the truth, I will also be truthful.”
“Fine.”
“Now tell me what type of angel you are?”
“I don’t know.”
“What do you mean? Explain yourself.”
I have the ability to kill lower-level demons. Like archangels do but I do not have a weapon to do so. As for banishing you back to hell I don't know if I can. Nor do I know if you can capture and torture me.”
“Ahh, I see. Well that somewhat clarifies why it didn’t work.”
“What didn’t work.”
“ I tried to exert power over you during our dance”
“Why did you do that..” The fact Levi had tried something made her nervous.
“Because I thought maybe I could. And I do love a good tormenting.”
Shivers ran up Elises spine.
“Now I have some questions.”
“Go on. I said I would be truthful. Which is a rare thing amongst us demons.”
“I assume your real name is Leviathan. Since you are calling yourself Levi Athan.”
“Yes.”
“Well, you certainly are full of yourself.”
“Such a nice angel you are.” he said sarcastically.
“Leviathan you are the Prince of Chaos, am I correct?”
“Very good little angel. Now it is my turn for again. Are there any other archangels in town?”
“Michael is in town.”
“And how long is he staying.”
“He said a couple of days. Why are you here?”
“I love New Orleans. This place is filled with debauchery and people love chaos here. Plus, it is close to the ocean. Which as I am sure you know, I love. So beside not having a weapon are you considered an archangel?”
“I think so.”
“And how do you know you don’t have a weapon? ”
