6. Secrets
“Michael said I didn’t. He has never lied to me before. Also, if I did have a weapon, it would have presented itself to me by now.”
“... last question. Do you know you are the most beautiful creature I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.”
Levi couldn’t help that he found Elise to be attractive. Anyone would if they had seen her. She had bright blue eyes that contrasted with her pitch-black hair. She was average height, and her body was sculpted to perfection. Her ivory skin had a glow about it, as all Angels do. He could not help that he was enraptured.
“Ah lust from a demon. How original. “
“It’s true I do lust after you but who wouldn’t. You are an original. There are no others like you. Despite the thousands I have been with you are the one I find most delicious. Now tell me, do you find me attractive?”
“If you are asking if you are attractive in appearance my answer is yes. I do find you to be quite good looking. As for you as a whole package that would be a no. I don’t find you in the slightest bit someone I would want to be around out of desire.”
“Well, that is a start I guess.”
“A start to what exactly” Elise said in a sarcastic tone.
“Our friendship.”
“Who said we were going to be friends? You’re a demon.”
“I know what I am.”
“Why would I become friends with you Leviathan.”
“Must you call me by my given name. I much prefer Levi. It so, less formal. Not to mention my full name makes me sound like a monster or something.”
“You are the prince of chaos. If that isn’t a monster, I don’t know what is.”
“If I’m really such a monster, why am I sitting here being civil with you; talking to you with respect? When all you have done is tell me how I am a bad guy, and how unattractive I am. Based on what I am. I did not choose to be a demon. You are an Angel. Maybe just a half one, but it is you who have acted in an ill-fitting manner for what you are.”
There was truth in Levi’s words. Elsie knew he was right. She even felt a bit of shame in her behavior. Elise thought to herself ‘he is right. I have not shown grace. I have judged him when it wasn’t my place. Although he did threaten the people outside with some kind of accident to get me to talk with him.’
“You may not be completely horrible, but you did threaten the lives of innocent people to get me to have this conversation with you. So yes, I would say overall you are not a good person.”
“Of course not, I am a demon after all. It is in our nature to be vindictive and selfish. I wanted to talk to you, so I made sure it happened. But if you are not amused by our discussion you can leave. I promise no harm will come to the humans.”
“Are you telling the truth?”
“We struck a bargain. Truth for truth and I never go back on a deal.”
“Alright then. I will be going.” Elise was happy to leave this room. She was going to tell Michael about this visit, and he would know what to do with the prince of chaos. Yes, that was her plan as she reached the door.
“If you do go and tell Michael I won’t be able to tell you about something your uncles have been hiding from you, for quite some time.” The words made Elise freeze as she grabbed the doorknob. He was telling the truth.
“What would they be hiding from me?”
“You won't know unless you come back here, and we finish our conversation.”
Elise thought about it. Perhaps it was something she already knew. Still, she was interested to see if he was right. She thought that Michael would never keep something from her but maybe he did Have something to hide.
Elise made her way back to her seat. She sat down and looked into the demon’s brown eyes. “All right go on.”
" Well, let's see. how much do you know about us demons?
“I know who the nine princes of hell are. I know that lower-level demons choose which prince to follow and that you are all men. There is not a woman amongst you, just like angels. I know you all have a high sex drive and hump anything and everything that you can. That is why there are so many half demon/ half humans out there. I could go on and on, with things I have been taught about demons, you all are the same, but I don’t see why it is important.”
“It is important because I want to see what misconceptions you have about us. For example, you say we hump everything. That we are all the same, but that is just not true. We each have our preferences. Me for example, I only like women. Whereas my brother Asmodeus likes everyone when it comes to sex. See not the same at all.”
“Alright so you are all not the same. But you are the opposite of angels.”
“Yes, we are, but we keep the mortal world in balance. You cannot have the good without the bad. I am sure Michael has explained that to you.”
“He did, but he also said you are a scourge on the world.”
“Enough about us demons. I will continue to educate you about how we really are at a later. You will come to favor us more than your angelic brethren in time. Of that I am certain.”
“How do you know we will ever talk again after this conversation?”
“Oh, trust me. When you hear the secret that your family has kept from you, you will beg me for more information. Furthermore because of this deception you will begin to question all you have been taught.”
Elise seriously doubted that. “Alright then Leviathan out with it. What is the big secret?”
“I asked you to call me Levi.” Elise gave in. What was the harm, she thought of calling him by the name he preferred.
“Fine, Levi. What is this secret, that is so big it will turn my whole world upside down?”
