EIGHT: SECOND MEETING

KIMBERLY

The next day by nine, I was all dressed and waiting nervously on the porch. I didn't want anyone to know about what was going on. I told them I was going for a job interview, so I had dressed like that. Khloe had started work and didn't have time to help me sort out any clothes or even help me touch my face or help me remake my hair. My parents had watched me with surprise as I came down the stairs and went outside without saying anything to them. I knew my mother was watching me from the window. The BMW pulled up at nine-thirty a.m. and a man came out and waved at me. I recognized him. He was the older man from the coffee shop.

I walked over to the car stiffly, my whole muscles tensed and my arms quivered. I have met Liam before and I have spoken to him, but it was a different situation today, I was going to meet him as Liam McGillivary today. The man smiled at me as I walked up to the car.

"Morning, Miss Nordstorm," he greeted cheerfully.

I took in a deep breath and smiled nervously at him. He gestured for me to enter the car. I went into the luxury car and looked around. I saw my parents peeping from the shop window. The man closed the door and went over to the driver's seat.

"Uhm...sir, can I ask you a question, please?" I asked, my voice coming out a little shaky.

"Call me Mr. White. You can ask me."

"I...I am so sorry for what happened, can you give me a heads-up on how angry Mr. McGillivary is so I would know how to be prepared."

I saw him smiling at me from the rear view mirror. "When you get there you will know how he is."

"I...I..." my words trailed off as I recalled that Liam might not have told him why he needed me to be there. Oh, my God! I panicked. Why didn't I tell anyone where I was going to? What if they kidnap me? I should have at least told someone. My mind went into turmoil, but then I thought again. Why would I be warning people about my whereabouts? I was going to meet my boyfriend as everyone thought, so I shouldn't be scared of visiting my boyfriend, right? I have to find a way to let people know that I was heading to the McGillivary's home anyway.

I took a selfie and posted it to our high school alumni group and tagged it 'Going to visit my boyfriend, Liam McGillivary' that way a lot of people would know where I was. The first person to reply was Shirley and as always, her comments were just negative.

'So early? That looks desperate to me' she typed. I rolled my eyes.

'Really? You didn't tell me,' Khloe was the next to reply.

'I thought you guys are at work, do they allow you to use your phones at work?' I typed.

'Will he bring you to the office?' Iris typed.

'I don't know yet. Bye guys, we will chat later.'

'I still don't believe it until I see you together. Not even a single picture?' Shirley typed.

'She said it was secret, I don't think they would take pictures together,' Donna replied.

"Now, they are public, they should take a lot of pictures together, we are waiting.' Ashley typed.

I sighed and logged off. I was just setting myself up for ridicule. What was I thinking? How on earth did I think I could pull a stunt about McGillivary and go free?

We drove into the mansion, it was a white, magnificent tall building, that stood tall amidst other buildings in the upper-class part of town. There was a large oval pool in front of the house and the windows were opened. I became more nervous that I almost fainted. Mr. White came out of the car and opened the door for me, his smile was still on his face. he led me into the living room that looked like paradise and motioned me to seat on a fluffy seat. I was a little scared to seat but he insisted and I sat looking in awe at the decor of the building.

"Someone would attend to you," Mr. White said and started heading up the stairs.

I suddenly felt small, like I was shrinking in the living room. It looked bigger when one was left all alone and a cold shiver washed over me, despite that the room was warm enough. I heard footsteps approaching and I turned towards it and saw a girl of my age or maybe two years older than me in a maid uniform, her hair was neatly combed back and tied in a bun, her steps were quick and seems calculated, her dress was neat and well ironed. She was carrying a tray. I watched her as she approached me with a smile and I stood up from the seat.

"You don't need to stand up for me ma'am," she said with a smile, setting down the tray on the ottoman. Even her voice was refined.

"Thank you, " I said and sat back. "Please, call me Kim."

She smiled and nodded and uncorked the wine. Handing me the wine glass, she poured it in for me. I needed that wine, so I gulped it down immediately. She looked at me without an expression and raised the glass to pour me another drink, but I stopped her.

"Please, call me if you need something else. Mr. McGillivary will be with you shortly," she said and started moving away.

"Excuse me," I said to her as nervousness raised a storm in my stomach. "I'm sorry, please. I don't know what came over me to have made such speculations. I don't know Mr. McGillivary, I don't know what to say to him, If you could tell me a little about him so that I would know what I am about to face. I am a nervous wreck right now."

She smiled at me. "Alright, I will tell you what you need to know about him."
