Ep. 4 A Glimpse Of Past

“Woah! Ritik seems dangerous now. Please say he didn’t hurt them. Aahil and Meera are such a cute couple, totally made for each other.” The girl said to the ascetic, who smile at her comment.

“I hope they end up together. Jeez, this story is creeping me out now!” the other girl said, and the ascetic’s deep blue eyes shifted to the girl.

“True love stories aren’t so simple, girl. Especially the eternal one, Lovers have to cross an ocean of hurdles to be with each other.” The ascetic said, his voice was so deep that it sent a chill down their spine, and the students looked at each other faces while one girl, Heena, who was interested in the story since its beginning, was totally hooked up.

“What happened after that? Did Meera actually landed in trouble because of Ritik or his role ended in their life?” She asked, and the ascetic looked outside the window before starting the story again.

Meera was busy talking to Alina on the call while Aahil was waiting for her to end the call, maintaining his focus on the road. Finally, Meera’s long gossip session ended, and she started humming a song while gazing out of the window.

“I saw you talking to Ritik. What was he saying that stretched a wide smile on your face?” Aahil asked Meera, and the latter looked at him with a mischievous smile.

“Jealous??” She asked, focusing on him.

“Shut up! Tell me what he was talking about?” He inquired.

“Apparently, your boyfriend instinct was right about him. He proposed to me,” Meera answered, playing with his hair.

“So you rejected him or you are waiting for some auspicious occasion,” Aahil asked sarcastically, his jaws clenched.

“I clearly stated I am not interested in him and he accepted the rejection positively!” She replied while taking out chocolates from her sling bag.

“Positively!?!? Like what his word was exactly?” Aahil tried to dig more as he was not convinced by the word positive.

“He was completely fine. You know there are some guys out there who try to woo every girl, he was one of them. Anyway, he asked me to hang out with him some time as we do, but you know that’s not gonna happen ever.” Meera exclaimed, taking a bite from her chocolate bar.

“He is a very dangerous guy, Meera. Try avoiding him at all costs. Stay away from him, especially after today when you have rejected him on his face,” Aahil said in a grave tone.

“Aahil, our college is going to end next week, and all of us will go back home. No one will be in touch with each other, and besides that, I don’t think he is dangerous. He is a good guy.” Meera replied and Aahil looked at her, narrowing his eyes.

“Just for once in your life, listen to what I am saying. YOU WILL STAY AWAY FROM RITIK. AM I CLEAR TO YOU?” Aahil spells out each word clearly and Meera rolled her eyes at the tone he used.

“Since you requesting me so politely. Okay, daddy, anything else you want your princess to do?” She mocked, but Aahil stayed quiet.

“Well, you had some exciting news to share? What is it?” Meera asked.

“Yeah!! You remember, I applied for the loan for our business, well it’s approved,” Aahil replied with a wide grin.

“WHAT? Really!!! Are you serious?” Meera screamed and jumped in her seat.

“Yes,” Aahil replied and looked at her radiant face.

“Oh, my god, Aahil. Finally, Lord Shiva is answering my prayers. I am so happy, our first step towards our dream.” Meera said and Aahil smiled ear to ear.

“Stop this car right now I want to hug you.” She said childishly, opening her arms for him, and Aahil stopped the car on the roadside and secured her in his strong arms.

“You know, having you in my arms is the best feeling in the world that can’t be expressed in words. I wish, I fulfill your every dream.” Aahil said, kissing her bare shoulder while Meera smiled with closed eyes.

“My dream is you,” She whispered.

Ritik was high on drugs. The images of the smile on Meera’s lips while mentioning Aahil bothered him. When his college buddies approached him in an old, dusty, and empty factory.

“Hey, buddy!! What’s up?” One of his friends asked while Ritik gazed at them with red eyes.

“Are you high on drugs, again?” Another friend asked.

“Fuck off!!” Ritik spat as he looked away.

“You were gone to propose Meera, what happened?” Another one asked.

“She just sees me as a friend,” Ritik replied and smiled at them.

“What!! That bitch rejected you?? How dare she!!” His friend screeched.

“Chill guys, I have a number of ways to get her. I tried the easiest one. Sooner or later, she will be mine.” Ritik declared with a sinister smirk on his face.

At the mall,

“Aahil, what do you think about this Navy blue dress? Do you find this suitable for the party!” Meera asked for Aahil’s opinion.

“Yup! You look great in dark colors. Let’s buy this.” Aahil replied, taking a glance at her.

“How about this wine color dress?” She asked while trying another knee-length dress.

“No! it’s too revealing,” Aahil answered and Meera pouted.

“What about that pink dress?” She said, pointing at another dress.

“Fine, buy the pink one,” Aahil replied, glancing at his wristwatch.

“No, but I think navy blue is more suitable for the party.” She said, confused with the wide range of dresses, and looked at Aahil for his suggestion, again.

“Meera, I am getting irritated now. We are choosing your dress for the last two hours. Let’s buy this blue dress and exit this store.” Aahil told her sternly, and she rolled her eyes at his statement, but did as he said.

They soon exited the shopping mall and walked to where their car was parked, but Meera spotted a decrepit fortune-teller sitting roadside, and she spun on her heels in his direction.

“Where are you going, now?” Aahil screeched, following her.

“Let’s see what he says about our future,” Meera replied enthusiastically, and sat on her knees in front of the old fortune teller.

“Tell me, dear, what you want to know about?” The fortune-teller asked Meera with a warm smile on his face, while Aahil stood behind Meera with his arms across his chest.

“I want to know about his future,” Meera replied, pointing at Aahil, and he frowned.

“Sure, give me your hand, son.” The old fortune-teller asked and Aahil was hesitant for a second because he didn’t believe in all this, but Meera grabbed his hand, and put his palm into the fortune teller’s hand.

“As far as I can see, he will be a very rich and successful entrepreneur, and he will have name, fame, and everything in the coming six-seven years,” The fortune-teller said and Meera got excited.

“And what about marriage? We are willing to marry each other. Is it possible or we might face any troubles?” Meera asked getting a little nervous, and Aahil facepalmed himself.

“How I can fall in love with this stupid girl who is asking a roadside fortune teller if we will get married or not.” Aahil thought as he looked at Meera in disbelief.

“Dear, I need to see your hand as well for the prediction,” The fortune-teller asked Meera, and she happily put her soft hand into his rough hand.

The old fortune-teller held their palm in each of his hands and about half a minute later, he said something that momentarily left Meera stunned, and her eyes filled with tears.

“Your marriage has a very slim chance. From the last many births you both love each other and are willing to spend life together, but evil forces are separating you always. This is your last birth if you didn’t marry each other in this birth, then you both will never attain salvation. Your soul will roam around the earth. You both are destined to be together but…” before he could complete, Aahil stopped him with his words.

“Meera, let’s leave. He is talking nonsense. Get up, now” Aahil shrieked, standing back on his feet, and Meera, too, followed his instruction wordlessly. She was on the verge to cry, and they both turned to go.

But Aahil stopped mid-way. He asked Meera to go ahead and seat inside the car while he walked back to the fortune-teller. He sat on his one knee in front of the fortune-teller, glaring at him, and put some money on his handkerchief.

“Fee for your bullshit.” Aahil spat furiously and was about to get up when the fortune teller grasped his wrist, and Aahil looked at him, narrowing his eyes.

“Our meeting is not coincidental, it was also destined.” The fortune-teller smiled while Aahil frowned.

“Protect her because the devil is coming soon to claim her, and once he caught her, He will crush all her happiness, and she’ll be left with nothing.” The fortune-teller warned and Aahil jerked his hand away from him.
