Chapter 02: Meeting Alpha Alec
[Bellatrix]
"I can do anything ma'am, anything. I just need a job, that's all" I blinked my eyes at the elderly woman who happened to be running this restaurant which was one of winter pack's renowned restaurant and from my findings, Alpha Alec sometimes visited the place.
Crossing the territory had been easy, since I was not a wolf and so here I was trying to find a reason to at least stay in the pack for some time before getting to the Alpha's mansion.
"I told you, there is no vacancy child. All the posts has been filled up."
"Even if I have to clean the floor round the clock, I will do it." I said urgently.
"You really need a job that bad?" A young lady interrupted, just as the elderly woman was about to reply me.
The lady was a Wolf, I noticed seeing green flakes swirling in her eyes. "Leila, you are here? When did you get back huh?" The elderly lady asked her.
Leila smiled. "I just got back this morning Hera, I haven't even gotten home. Where are the rest?"
"They left a while ago, they had to take care of some stuffs. Are you going to meet Alec right away?"
My ears instantly piqued with curiosity at the mention of Alec. Probably it is the Alpha? "Uhm, excuse me? Please is there any place around here I can get a job? I really need this to be able to send my sister to school." I lied.
The lady, Leila looked at me and then she patted my back. "I can see you are really desperate, you are in luck because I do have a work you can do and it would pay you well"
"Oh really! Thank you ma'am, thank you so much" I exclaimed, feigning excitement.
She smiled at me again and grabbed hold of my hand. "Come with me dear. I will see you again Hera"
Hera waved at her as she led me outside towards her car. "Come on in"
I entered, just as she got into the driver's seat and started the car. "So what's your name?" She inquired.
"Bellatrix" I replied with a soft smile.
"I see, and you do know about us Lycans don't you? Or perhaps you don't?"
"I know a bit, but not quite much. I know this is the winter pack territory though."
"Good, because you will be working for the Alpha of the pack." Leila stated with a nod of her head.
If I wasn't trying to hide my identity, I would have started to jump for joy at the easy access I just got into the Alpha's home. Now all I had to do was keep myself hidden and still get secrets that would normally be kept in the confinements of that house. Now though, I was starting to wonder who Leila was and how she knew Alpha Alec so well.
~
"The Alpha has made it known that he is not going to receive any visitors, and we cannot disobey his orders."
This was probably the hundredth time these shifter guards had been saying those words since we arrived at Alpha Alec's magnificent mansion. I felt like pulling their hairs out for keeping us waiting.
What kind of Alpha keeps his visitors waiting anyway? More reason why I hated their kinds. Leila rubbed her eyes frantically, she was also getting frustrated. "Tell Alec I am going to break this door if he won't let me in!" She growled.
"I am sorry we can't do that, as you know The Alpha is mourning the loss of his mate."
I gasped inaudibly at the information. He lost his mate? How could he have lost her? Rogues?
"For the past three fucking months! Goddamnit! Julianne was my best friend too! Is he gonna reject his duties because of a mate that won't come back?!.
There was silence for a while after Leila's outburst, then the guards pushed the door open. "Alpha says you can come in." I guessed he had told them through a mind link.
Forget the outer part of the house, the inside was much better, chandeliers hung around the ceiling, but before I could continue admiring the place, I heard a deep voice from the top of the stairs.
"Why did you come Leila?" My head snapped to the owner of the voice and I automatically froze. A tall 6'9 feet man stood on the stairs, his arms folded on the railings as he stared down at us. I scrutinized him. His grown-out hair, the thick, shaggy beard and a haunted look in his eyes that made him seem that he just arrived from a distant planet. Beneath them though, I could see the remnants of a strikingly gorgeous man, with the blue flicks swirling in his eyeballs it was all I could do to keep my jaw from dropping at the sight of him, but I was there to do a job and drooling over this so called Alpha was certainly not the plan.
"Because one of us decided to ignore his Pack needs because of a death that was inevitable!" Leila snapped in reply to his question.
Alec sighed and walked down the stairs. "Ryan is handling it okay"
"There is little a Beta can do compared to his Alpha. Goddess! Alec, you have to get over this already"
"Who is she?" He nodded at me, completely ignoring her latter statement. How rude of him.
"Your caretaker." That shocked me and i glanced at Leila with a questioning look.
"What the actual fuck, Lee!" Alec exclaimed, his eyes roaming from her to me and back to her. "I do not need a caretaker! I am not an invalid!"
Leila shrugged, unconcerned by his outburst. "You fit every description of an invalid brother. Have you even looked in the mirror to see how shabby you appear?"
Oh. So she is sister.
"I have maids—" he started to say.
"That you sent away" Leila cut him off with a wave of her fingers.
"I am the Alpha, Lee! Stop countering my words!" He snapped.
"Then act like one Alec! Mother instructed me to hire a caretaker for you, and I did so you had better live with the fact that this lady is staying here with you till you decide to get back on your feet and you are going to resume your duties as Alpha of this pack whether you like it or not!" Leila concluded and without looking back she stormed out of the house, leaving me standing in front of a furious Alec.
She did not even explain my work to me. What the hell was I going to do with an obvious brokenhearted furious Alpha who is standing at least two feet taller than me?
"Um, hi?" I stuttered a greeting, scratching the back of my neck.
Alec looked me over, shaking his head at me. "You should leave, I do not need your services" he said and started to walk away.
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Alpha Alec" I countered, stopping him in his tracks.
"Lady, leave while I am being nice or you won't like the outcome" He growled, still not looking back at me.
Fucking hell! Why is he being so hardheaded. I cleared my throat and placed my hands on my hips in a bid to pull off a nonchalant stance. "Perhaps I want to know the outcome, Alpha Alec."
"I said you wouldn't like it"
"I am here to do a job that I would be paid for, so I do not care."
My smart mouth would definitely put me in trouble in this place. Not like I would have naturally cared but in this kind of situation I probably should care definitely.
"Fuck you Lee!" He growled and turned back to face me, his eyes had changed colors, they were like a burning blue flame.
Well, well, well. I think I just pissed off this Lycan Alpha.
Alec stalked towards me, reaching out, he grabbed my arms and then pressed me against the nearest wall, and in a silent order that could not be missed, he whispered.
"Stay the fuck away from me, lady!"
