Chapter 05: The pool of transition

Bellatrix

For some reason, I didn't put on the earrings yet, instead I slipped them into my purse as I followed Alec out to his garage. I stared at the two vehicles parked there and I scoffed inwardly, why would dogs need cars? That just beats me.

"Alpha, would you mind if I drive you?" I had almost forgotten that there were two guards guarding the house. I turned my eyes to them as they stood behind us.

"That won't be necessary Kent, You both should go and joined the others at the boarders.. I might be away for a while." Alec replied them.

"Are you visiting the Pack house?" The one beside Kent whose name I didn't know, asked.

"Yes, I am.. Now please leave. The pack needs the security you can offer more than I do."

"Yes Alpha." They replied, bowing in unison.

The drive to the pack house or wherever it is we were going was unbearably quiet, and we finally got to our destination I immediately let out a sigh of relief.

I snorted as Alec opened his door and got down, expecting me to same without even saying a word to me. Well, I did get down. The pack house was beautiful and just as enormous, I noticed as I stood right in front of it. From the corner of my eyes I could see a pool, well it did look like a pool, but the crystal blue rays emitting from it made me think otherwise.

I did not also miss the elegant trees that encased the mighty house instead of a gate and as we walked farther into the compound, I started to notice the different Lycans littered around, some in their human form, and some in their wolf form, most of them were kids though..

Despite my ever present respite for them, I couldn't help but wonder at the magical feeling I felt as I watched them. The wolves were gorgeous, some were a shining black in color, others a dark shade of brown and a lesser part of them leaning on to the red color side, and even though I did not want to agree, I somehow felt at peace with the atmosphere.

The Lycans seemed to notice Alec's presence as they had stopped their various activities as they bowed to him. Alec smiled at them, waving his hands and they returned back to their earlier activities.

"Are you staying out here or would you come in?" Alec asked, an amused look on his face as he had caught me staring at the wolfs.

"Uh.. I'm coming in" I muttered in reply.

"Have you never seen Lycans in their wolf forms before?" Alec asked as he pushed the door open.

Surprised at his sudden question, I glanced at him. "What?"

"You look flustered just by staring at them, obviously you haven't seen one before."

If only he knew how many I had seen and destroyed with my bare hands, only that they weren't that beautiful. I did not make a move to correct him and I shrugged instead. "Perhaps."

"Even if you had though, The winter wolfs always have an enchanting effect on people they meet, mostly humans. It kind of comes with our nature." He grinned at me, making me marvel at his sudden change in character. He didn't look like the same man that had told me to stay away from him just two days ago, and even the blue flecks In his eyes were starting to shine brightly.

I opened my mouth to speak but I was interrupted a loud squeal from inside the room we had just entered. "Alec!" I raised my eyes to look at the owner of the familiar voice, of course it was Leila. It is then I noticed that there were other people around, probably more than fifty or so.. They were definitely more than that and of course the room contained them. It looked like it was a gathering of the whole pack, no wonder the streets had been almost empty as we drove past it.

"Alpha Alec is here?" My eyes meets Hera just as she stands from her seating position and rushes towards Alec, it isn't long before the others follow suit, the brightness on their face showing how happy they are to see him in their midst. Soon he is pressed together with a good number of people and I quietly slip away from their midst trudging outside through the front door.

I glanced around as I stepped outside, the children or pups as the Lycans preferred to address their offsprings as were still playing around. I stalked toward the pool as it kept drawing me to itself. The crystal blue emittance from it felt like it was calling to me. My feet led me to the edge and I slipped off my slippers as I sat down besides it.

I stared at the water for a while, before slowly allowing my hand to slide into it. The water shook immediately and just like magic it sprang up, shooting water around like a fountain. I gasped, drawing my hand out swiftly and shifted away from the edge.

"What the fuck did you do to the water!" I turned back to see them all gathered behind me with Alec at their front glaring at me furiously.

I stood up, my hands traveling to my neck in a nervous gesture. It was the first I felt nervous in front of people. "I didn't do anything, I only put my hands in it.. That's all, I swear."

"I don't believe you.." He stalked towards me, making me take steps back.

"I really didn't do anything. I am just as shocked as you are."

"The water has never been disturbed by anyone's presence except yours. What are you?" A familiar voice spoke from the crowd, it was Hera. I stepped back again as she came out of the midst of the gathered pack, narrowing my eyes at her confusedly. What is she talking about?

"What are you saying Hera? You can't possibly be thinking that." Alec said.

"As of now I have no conclusion, but she is telling the truth."

"And how would you know that." Alec snapped. I scoffed inwardly at his rudeness to the old lady.

"You do not mean that question,do you Alpha Alec?" Hera smiled and then left, the crowd also began to disperse with her departure.

Alec growled angrily as he stared at me and then stormed off without saying a word.

"Are you okay?" I almost fell over at Leila's sudden presence beside me. "Hey easy" she grabbed hold of me and pulled me farther away from the pool before I could topple. It seemed like the stupid pool drew me out of my wits today seeing as I didn't sense Leila coming up to my side.

"Hi Leila." I greeted with a small smile, adjusting the wrinkled part of my dress.

"Bellatrix.. You seem pale, are you sure you're okay?." Leila asked again, giving me a worried look.

"I'm fine Leila, probably a little flushed but really I'm good." I replied.

She heaved in a sigh. "Look I'm sorry about Alpha Alec, he is not normally like that." She said as she started to lead me away from the pool side.

"Of course I know that, and besides anyone would be annoyed at what just happened." I shrugged laughing lightly.

"It wasn't your fault.. If it weren't for his stupid Alpha's title, I would have whipped his ass for upsetting a lady."

I glanced at her as I guest into laughter. "Really?"

"Of course.." She paused and made a stop in front of the doorstep. "You are not going to leave, are you? He really needs someone to take care of him at this point."

I doubt that, I thought to myself. I smiled at Leila. "I wouldn't leave because of a little incident like this."

"Oh, thank you so much Bellatrix, and..."

"We are leaving. Now." Leila's statement is cut off by Alec's angry voice announcing his presence.

"Alec!"

"Shut up Lee." I rolled my eyes, Leila was right, he really did need whipping. I mean why would he talk to his sister like that. Stupid gorgeous Lycan.

Alec grabbed hold of my hand and started to pull me away, but the shrill ringing tone of my phone stopped him in his track.

Oh shit! Not Tee.
