SECRETIVE
I looked back swiftly and saw the devious look on their faces.
I thought they were fighting. Now I am their target.
I rushed into our house and locked the door panting. My heart wanted to come out of my chest.
Thank God the days I spent running in the field didn't go in vain. I started breathing heavily, trying to catch my breath. I put my hand on my chest and looked at my hand.
"Oh no, my phone is gone!" I exclaimed.
When did it fall? The first phone my mom bought for me when I turned sixteen is gone. What will I tell Mom? Oh no, I am screwed! I exclaimed, running my hand through my hair. I walked to our window and saw the werewolves walking past our house.
I opened my eyes wide in surprise and rushed away from the window.
The house is quiet. I think my mom is sleeping. Should I go out to look for my phone? Nope, I have seen more than enough today. My brain can't process it all.
I rushed to my room and shut the door.
I collapsed on the bed, staring at the ceiling. The images of what I had just seen kept playing in my head.
So the rumors were true: werewolves do exist. What fascinates me the most is how those handsome guys transform into huge wolves.
I sat up on the bed and took off my shoes, then relaxed well on the bed and covered myself with the duvet. I snuggled myself into the bed, trying to stop thinking about the wolf's Tomorrow is another day.
The next day.
I woke up really early and went for a morning walk to look for my phone before getting ready for school. But I didn't see anything, so I headed back home. My mom was arranging dishes on the table when she stole a glance at me.
"You look pale." She commented, hovering around me.
"Is anything the matter?" She asked worriedly.
"No mom." I replied and walked past her.
I sat at the dining table and started eating.
"When is Lucas coming?" She asked.
"He will be here any moment now." I replied, avoiding her gaze. We normally go to school together.
"Alright then." She muttered and dug into her food.
We both started eating in total silence when we heard the sound of the doorbell.
"He is here. I have to go now." I muttered as I ran to my room to carry my bag.
I grabbed the bag and dashed out of the room. I saw my mom talking to Lucas. I didn't want my mom to discover that I had lost my phone.
I scurried to them and grabbed Lucas' hand, leading him outside the house.
"Bye bye aunt." He beamed, waving at my mom.
"Bye, son." My mom replied we arrived outside the house and he pulled his hand from my grip.
"What's wrong with you today? Why are you in such a hurry to go to school?" He inquired as we started walking towards his car.
"I will tell you in the car." I muttered as his driver opened the door for the both of us. I entered the car and rested there, putting my backpack on my leg.
Lucas entered the car and sat next to me, staring at me with his grey eyes. His parents are not that rich; they are middle class. I just live with an old lady whose son I don't even know feeds her. I am often called the old lady's daughter in school, but I don't give a fuck. She is my mother. She is the one that brought me into this world. I can't trade her for anybody else.
Lucas snapped his fingers in my face, bringing me out of my trance.
"What are you thinking?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Nothing, the reason I was in a hurry was because I went out on a late night walk yesterday and lost my phone." I muttered
"How come? What happened? How can you be so careless?" He asked, wrinkling his nose.
"It's not like I lost it on purpose. I saw a...I paused and stared at the driver, who was looking at us through the front mirror. I leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear,
"I saw a werewolf." He opened his eyes wide in surprise.
"Are you serious? Are you messing with me?" He asked, folding his hand across his chest.
"No, I am not." I assured.
"I don't believe you." He mumbled and faced the window.
"Aren't you the one blabbering about how werewolves are real, now that I told you I saw one. you don't believe me." I was pissed.
He turned to me and smiled widely at me.
"So what did the werewolf look like? Was it big?" He inquired just as the driver halted.
"We are here." He declared I grabbed my bag and stepped out of the car and started walking into the school, which had Winterville College written at the top.
Lucas cut up to me and put his hand around my shoulder.
"They are coming." A student muttered, frightened. Who is coming? I wondered as I saw a lot of students running away.
"Hey you stop!!" I heard someone say it from behind.
We try to take another step.
"I said stop there, girl!!" The person exclaimed in a harsh tone, and we both turned to look at the person.
Oh my God I am toasted. It was the werewolves from yesterday. This time there were humans.
As they both walk majestically towards me with their heads held high, they are extremely tall. I look up at them.
"Who are you supposed to be?" I asked confidently.
"No one in this pack has the right to see us in our wolf form, but you have seen us. You will have to face the consequences." One of the declared.
"Pardon?" I muttered, raising my brow.
In the blink of an eye he swept me off my feet and carried me on his shoulder, holding my legs.
"Who are you, put me down!" I protested by hitting him on the back continuously, but he didn't bulge. As he started walking towards the school entrance.
Lucas ran in front of us, spreading his hands in the air.
"Where are you taking my friend? Let her go!!" He protested, standing akimbo.
