THE REALITY

LAURA

Laura stood transfixed in a daze, while the maids fixed her up.

Nobody wants to listen to her. Not her mom or her dad. What was she to do now?

Nobody wants to listen to her. Who was she to run to now? Who would listen to her, and give her an explanation of her dream?

She was terribly worried. At some point, she thought about forgetting about the dream. It wasn't her first time having a night break anyway, so why should she be so scared? There was nothing to be afraid of.

Laura gave herself some hours of peace, but whenever her mind flashed to Xander, she couldn't help but feel extremely scared. What if her fears came to reality? She shook her head, so the thoughts would stop tormenting her.

"Your Highness, are you okay?"

Laura came to herself when she heard the maid's question

"Hold on, are you telling me this is me, like the whole of me?"

"This is interesting, the Princess could no longer recognize her very own self!" Eva exclaimed, with a bright smile on her face. No one knows when she appeared.

"Oh my goodness! I'm speechless, I had no idea I could be this beautiful, you know.

"I could see that through your very own facial expression. So who said the princess was hideous, I wouldn't like to hear them utterly such nonsense today."

Laura almost giggled at how serious her friend looked when she talked about her bullies and teasers. Knowing how Eva acted most times, she was very sure that Eva was ready to fight just anyone that might try to make her look bad.

Knowing Eva was there for her all the time, Laura felt more relieved and happy. Indeed, she shouldn't have been thinking about the dream she had for some hours. She always had nightmares. There was nothing different. Indeed.

While Laura and her friend were still admiring and gushing over her appearance, the door flew open again and her mother washed in.

Laura gazed through the door and found her mom by the door staring at her with eyes wide open. Laura chuckled lightly, she must have totally confused her mom with her new look.

"I knew you would actually look pretty, but I had never imagined that you would look so beautiful. My love, I'm sure you would take it. The breath of so many people away."

Laura's heartbeat stopped the moment she realized that she would be going out into the crowd. So many people will know her as the princess from now on. She just hoped things wouldn't get messed up the moment she came into view.

"I know you are scared, but trust me, you will be okay."

"I believe so too. You would be the most admired tonight!" Her friend added.

Laura breathed a sigh of relief getting assurance from her mom and her best friend.

She was made to descend the stairs alone. At that very moment in time, she was scared to death. Seeing all the eyes on her, made her heart suddenly want to pump out of her chest.

The gaze of the people in front of her was almost choking the life out of her.

It was more of a glare than a look of admiration. She should have known that she would not be accepted in public.

"Now she wondered how she was supposed to have a mate if the stares they gave her now were this threatening.

Laura could tell from the bottom of her heart that she never find a mate in the Kingdom. She wasn't even sure she would get to find one in other places either.

She just had this feeling that it would be hard finding a mate. Even if she was to have a mate, she was sure that he would hate her to bits.

Might even reject her on that very spot. And she wouldn't be surprised, knowing that they hated her in the kingdom.

Laura slowly took a glance at the throne, and there, she saw her parents staring at her in admiration. And, of course, seeing their smiling faces was the only thing that gave her strength in tones like that. She couldn't help but be grateful, that at least her parents who brought her into the world loved her very much.

So long as their love was there, there was nothing that she was afraid of in her life.

Laura summoned all her courage and walked down the stairs without looking at anyone.

When she finally got down the stairs, her eyes scanned the crowd in search of her friends, and fortunately, she found them in the crowd, scurrying over to meet her.

Laura was happy that her friends were happy to be with her. Just as she was about to take a step in their direction, she was suddenly grabbed by the arms.

Laura froze at that very moment, she turned around to see who it was, and to her greatest horror, it was none other than the guy she dreaded seeing most, Xander.

"I must confess that you look absolutely gorgeous today. Why don't you take a walk with me?"

At that very moment, she recalled the dream she had earlier. Why was he dragging her in this way? This was exactly the dream she had, where he was dragging her. She turned around to see her friends staring at Xander in confusion.

"Laura, look this way and dance with me... Don't embarrass me."

Laura suddenly began shivering. The fact that he was forcing her into a dance was a clear indication that her dream was about to come to pass.

"Xander, please, don't hurt my parents. You don't have to go that far, I beg you, please." Laura begged with tears in her eyes.

"What are you talking about? I just asked you to have a dance with me. How is that, me trying to harm your parents? "

Laura stated to Xander, carefully confused. Wasn't the dream coming to pass? Could it be that she had mistaken his intentions?

What was she thinking right now? It seemed it was just a dream, but then his actions were different from what she thought about. Could she be the one confusing herself?

While she was dancing, other guys came to have a dance with her, but they were not from Acrinide. The only person from her kingdom who had a dance with her was Xander. The rest only stared at her in disgust.

Well, her father's anniversary party quite came out like a surprise to her. It seemed the dream she had was false, also she never expected that she would attract other guys who were from her kingdom. While those in her kingdom, most especially the girls stared at her with jealousy-filled gazes.

Just then, Damian took over the dance. When she knew it was Damian, Laura felt comfortable. She danced at him with a smiling face.

"Weird how Xander de used to take your first dance, huh?"

"Yea wasn't expecting him to."

Damian was the last person she danced with before the dancing aspect came to an end.

Laura felt really satisfied and loved. The fact that her parents and friends would always be there to see her through all her endeavors was something she could never be less grateful for.

While everyone was making merry, her father decided to give his speech of appreciation.

"I want to thank you all for honoring my invitation and coming to my anniversary."

While her father was giving his speech, she suddenly saw Xander walking in the direction of the throne.

Even though everything seemed to be going on fine, she couldn't help but keep her eyes peeled for everything that was happening around her.

When she saw Xander approaching the throne, she couldn't help but wonder why he was going over there.

As much as she didn't want to panic, she couldn't help herself. Things had been happening strangely and she would not deny the fact that she was still feeling a little scared.

Just as her dad was done with his speech, she was shocked to see Xander standing in front of the audience.

"Hello everyone, I know you must be surprised to see me up here, but I'm here to tell you that I and the princess have been together for a long time now, and as my mate, would like to use this medium to propose to her."

At that very moment, panic and confusion ensued in the hall. This was the greatest of all confusion she had ever had to experience.

Laura shook her head. She tried to speak but her voice was inaudible at that moment. This must be another dream. It must definitely be another dream.

Laura's eyes watered as she saw what was happening. This was definitely the reality of her dream. Laura shook her head in disbelief. It can't be the day her parents will die. She has to do something fast.

"No! He's a liar!" Laura pushed into the crowd to warn her parents. But at that moment, it seemed as though the crowd was pushing her away from reaching out to her parents.
